Can I Attend the Birthday Feast

Aurora returned to her room, gathered all the random pills, and put them in a bag, planning to have them tested at the hospital later. Right now, losing weight was the top priority!

Aurora was 5 feet 8 inches tall, similar to her height as Olivia Pendleton, but while Olivia weighed only around 90 pounds, this body weighed 150 pounds.

With this weight, let alone training, even daily travel was inconvenient.

Aurora took out her notebook and quickly devised a weight loss plan for herself, including daily diet and exercise. This was the winter vacation of her senior year, and she had two months off. She had to lose weight as quickly as possible so she could enter high society and gradually get closer to Isabella Whitmore.

At dinner, Aurora ate only an apple and then went out for a run. After running a kilometer, she was already panting. She couldn’t believe it; she used to be able to run ten kilometers with weights!

When she returned home that night, Sebastian Pendleton was waiting in the living room. Sophia was sitting next to him, crying and telling how Aurora had bullied her.

Sebastian asked, ”Aurora, why did you hit Sophia? She’s your sister, after all. Apologize to Sophia!”

Aurora sneered. Sophia’s one-sided story was enough for Sebastian to demand an apology, without even giving her a chance to explain. Such a father was worse than Olivia being an orphan.

“Dad, Sophia said my mom was a short-lived ghost, so I’m a short-lived ghost too, and I’ll die sooner or later. I was angry, so I hit her. I know I don’t have a mom like Sophia does, with Madeline to guide her. I won’t do it again,” Aurora said quietly, her head down.

This pitiful appearance made Sebastian feel a twinge of guilt. Aurora was, after all, his biological daughter.

“That’s not true! She’s lying! Dad! I didn’t say that!” Sophia protested.

“I’m sorry, Dad. I know I was wrong,” Aurora apologized obediently, her voice much more pleasant compared to Sophia’s shrieking.

Sebastian frowned and said, “Enough. I’m busy at the company every day. Don’t bother me with these trivial matters.”

Then, ignoring Sophia’s cries, he went upstairs.

As soon as Sebastian left, Sophia dropped her pitiful act and rushed over to slap Aurora. Aurora grabbed her wrist, her face no longer showing the obedient expression from before. She said menacingly, ”Sophia, I’m not the Aurora you used to bully. You’d better not provoke me, or I won’t mind hitting you a second time!”

The malice in Aurora’s eyes frightened Sophia, who stepped back. Aurora released her hand and went upstairs.

In the middle of the night, Aurora woke up, starving. This body was used to eating so much, and now that she had suddenly controlled her food intake, she was so hungry she couldn’t sleep.

Her mind was filled with thoughts of barbecue, hot pot, chicken legs... She was starving!

So she lay in bed doing sit-ups, determined not to eat anything. She had to lose weight or die trying!

A week passed like this. Perhaps Sophia had been scared off by Aurora’s sudden fierceness, and the week was very peaceful. No one came to bother her, and she successfully controlled her appetite, losing ten pounds!

Although she was happy, she still had 140 pounds to lose... She really wanted to eat hot pot!

One day at lunch, her grandpa came over. This was the first time Aurora had seen her grandpa since her rebirth.

At the dining table, Grandpa said, “For the birthday in half a month, Madeline, make sure it’s well-organized. All the well-known families in the city will be there, including the Fairbank family. We can’t let anyone look down on our Pendleton family.”

Madeline seized the opportunity to please the old Pendleton, smiling and saying, “Dad, don’t worry. We’ll make sure your birthday celebration is splendid.Maxwell and Evelyn will be back soon."

Although the old Pendleton didn’t like Madeline, Maxwell, her son, was his only grandson, and Evelyn was a top star who had become famous all over the country.

Hearing that Maxwell Pendleton and Evelyn Pendleton would be back, the old Pendleton immediately smiled and said, “Good, tell the children to put their work aside and come back to accompany me.”

Because of her brother and sister, Sophia became even more smug. With her sister’s support, she was going to enter the entertainment industry and become a big star. As for Aurora, she would remain a lazy, fat slob at home.

---

“Grandpa, can I attend your birthday feast?” Aurora asked.

The old man furrowed his brows, seemingly reluctant to see such a plump girl at a high-class banquet. He didn’t want to hurt her self-esteem, so he appeared somewhat troubled.

"Aurora, don’t make Grandpa uncomfortable. When people ask who this chubby girl belongs to, should Grandpa say she’s from the Pendleton family? Do you want others to make fun of the Pendletons at Grandpa’s birthday feast?” Sophia taunted.

“Yeah, Aurora, you always stayed in your room during Pendleton family gatherings before. Just skip it this time too,” Madeline chimed in.

“Grandpa, if I can lose weight successfully in half a month, can I attend your birthday feast?” Aurora asked again.

The old man looked into Aurora’s sincere eyes and finally gave in, saying, “Alright, come see me in half a month.”

Aurora knew that Grandpa had agreed.

For her, the most important person to win over in the entire Pendleton family was Grandpa.

Forty-five percent of the Pendleton Group’s shares were in the old man’s hands, five percent in Sebastian’s, and ten percent in Maxwell’s. These three granddaughters had none, so the real decision-maker in the Pendleton family was the old man.

Aurora wanted to secure her position in the Pendleton family and break into high society to get close to Isabella Whitmore. Winning over Grandpa was the first step.

Sophia glared at her angrily, but Aurora ignored the rage in her eyes, standing up and saying, “I won’t eat dinner from now on. Don’t call me.”

She changed into running shoes and went out for a jog, Sophia sneering behind her back, “Still as lob, no matter what.”

Over the past week, she had set higher goals for herself every day. Now she could run two kilometers. She had to regain her strength quickly and seize power to have enough capital to face Isabella Whitmore.

Thinking of little Mike, with his vacant eyes, falling silently to the ground, Aurora’s heart filled with hatred. She had knelt and kowtowed, but nothing had changed the outcome. And Dominic Ashcroft, who had made a promise but let her die horribly, she had to take revenge!

She gathered her strength and started running again.

By the roadside, inside a black Audi, a man looked impatiently at the documents in his hand, asking, “How much longer?”

Assistant Kieran Ashford wiped his sweat nervously, saying, “Sorry, sir, the car broke down. I’ve already called the branch in the cityto send a new one.”

Heath Fairbank pinched his brow and looked out the window. The chubby girl passed in front of his car again, this time stopping to stare at the window for a long time.

Aurora couldn’t see anyone inside the car. It had been parked by the roadside for half an hour, unmoving, so she subconsciously thought it was empty.

Heath Fairbank sat inside, watching the girl stare at him for a full ten seconds.

Her eyes were delicate and beautiful, but her face’s plumpness hid her beauty.

Just as Kieran was about to get out of the car to shoo her away, Aurora suddenly yelled at the window, “You’re so fat!”

Heath was startled, then amused. He thought the girl was looking at him inside the car, only to realize she was using the window as a mirror.

"Aurora! Please lose weight! There’s no time!” she pleaded with herself.

She had to constantly remind herself of her past life’s hatred to push herself faster, to quickly return to Olivia’s state. Otherwise, by the time Isabella married Dominic, with so many assassins in the Abyss Group, she wouldn’t be able to break in alone.

Thinking of her friends who had fought and died together, Aurora remembered Isabella’s words about uprooting her loyal forces in the Abyss Group.

She had grown up with Dominic Ashcroft, watching him strengthen the Abyss Group step by step, becoming his right-hand woman, and even cultivating her own loyal followers. Those people were like her family.

She had to secure her footing quickly to protect the others.

Isabella was right about one thing: she was just a knife in Dominic Ashcroft’s hand, and they, the assassins, could be sacrificed as pawns at any time.

But Isabella had the entire Whitmore family behind her, and Dominic Ashcroft would never abandon her.

Heath watched the girl outside the car window, her eyes filled with determination and endless hatred. He laughed, thinking, what could a high school girl possibly hate so much?

Aurora didn’t notice the man in the car and continued to run faster.

The car from the branch office arrived, and Heath left the street. Such a trivial matter was hardly worth his attention.
