MasukSIENNA THORNE
My head was pounding and my mouth tasted like sandpaper.
Those were the first things I noted when I opened my eyes the next day.
The sound of a door closing reached my ears and I jerked up, glancing around.
A man I had never seen before walked towards me carrying a tray of food perhaps - the aroma said a lot.
“I see you're awake.” He said as he placed the tray in front of me. “I thought you should eat first before we talk.”
I kept staring at him, wondering if I knew him from somewhere and then my memories from last night rushed into my mind altogether.
He was the stranger who had taken me home. Looking around my surroundings, I frowned.
“This isn't my home.” I commented and eyed him wearily. Had I been kidnapped. “Who are you?”
“My name is Anthony Miller. My friends call me Tony.”
“Why did you bring me here? Where is this place?” I asked, ignoring his attempt at pleasantries. “Did Xander send you?” I added a follow-up question, my mind spinning with the many possibilities.
He snorted. “No, he most definitely didn't. I'm here to help you but you have to trust me.”
“How can I trust you? I don't even know you. I whispered and he chuckled.
“That's fair.” He nodded in agreement and I sighed in relief.
So far he didn't look like a threat but these things weren't that simple.
“Why am I here?”
“Because I want to help.” He replied and I narrowed my eyes.
“How could you possibly help me? You don't even know me.” I shot back, suspicion rising inside me at his words.
Was he a stalker perhaps?
“Sienna Thorne-Smith, married to the heir of the Smith empire. Unfortunately that collapsed to the ground and was bought by a powerful business man who he now works for,” he summarized and I gasped.
“Who are you? Have you been stalking me?”
He shook his head. “I have been watching you, yes, for a while, especially after I found out about your husband's affair.”
“My husband's…You spread that video online, didn't you?” I asked, my tone accusatory. “How could you do that? You had no right!”
I was angry now.
He frowned. “I didn't upload anything, wouldn't stoop so low just to expose your husband. Besides, it wasn't my place anyway.”
“So what do you want with me?” I asked and he smiled.
“I want to help you get revenge on your ex-husband and stepmother. Your father too if you'd like.”
I scoffed and sat up. “What makes you think I want revenge?”
“You should after everything they've done to you,” he replied and then picked up the spoon and scooped some rice into it then brought it to my mouth. “Eat,”
I sighed and reached for the tray. I didn't want to get revenge on them, especially not my dad.
“I'll give you my card and you can call me when you've had time to think things through.”
I nodded and started eating. It was my first meal since the incident and I was starving.
He chuckled. “There's no need to rush it. I'm not going to take it away from you,”
Pink coated my cheeks as I glared at him. “I need to go home. In case you forgot, I'm a married woman.”
“Not for long,” he whispered but I heard it. “Anyway, “I'll drop you off when you're done.”
I rolled my eyes but kept eating, fuming because he might be right.
Could I still stay with Xander after what he had done?
****
“Oh Sienna darling, you're finally home,” I whipped my head around and searched for the source of the voice, Diane.
My eyes locked on her at the dining table but she wasn't alone. My dad and Xander were there with her.
“Where have you been?” Xander asked as I got closer to them.
I shrugged, unwilling to give him an answer. “It's none of your business.”
“Answer your husband Sienna, where have you been?” Dad growled, sounding upset.
“He's not my husband,” I shot back and Xander narrowed his eyes at me. “My whereabouts ceased to be of any concern to him since he slept with my stepmother.”
Xander scoffed. “You can't still be mad about last night. I told you already that wasn't me. Someone doctored it to create a rift between us.”
A laugh burst out of me before I could stop it. “Doctored it? Xander there was no way whoever did it could have known about the tattoo on your hip bone.” I pointed out as the video flashed in my head. “Unless of course it was one of your many lovers,”
He started to speak but I held up my hand, cutting him off.
Taking a deep breath, I continued. “I’m not here to fight with you Xander, I just came to get my things and leave.”
“We're married Sienna, where do you think you're going?” Xander yelled and I narrowed my eyes.
“Whatever we have ends today. It was never real anyway and you'll be hearing from my lawyer soon so please make sure you sign the papers as soon as you get them.”
Xander just stared at me like I was sputtering nonsense. "You're bluffing Sienna, you can't leave me,” he pronounced and I almost laughed at his audacity. “Besides, once people see you've forgiven me, it will all blow over quickly. We have to put up a united front,”
“And what makes you think I want to do anything like that?” I scoffed. He was even more delusional than I thought. “Unfortunately for you, I'm done with this sham. It was never a marriage built to last anyway so now you're free to ride off into the sunset with Diane,” I spat her name like it left a bitter taste in my mouth. “Or any of your other lovers,”
“Sienna, please let's talk about this.” Xander begged and rushed after me as I made my way towards our bedroom on the first floor.
I took in the familiar environment and tears filled my eyes.
It would be my last chance to admire the place I always called home and I wanted to take it all in as much as I could.
“Cece baby, please don't do this.” He kept pleading but I wasn't listening.
How could I have missed it? Surely there had to have been some signs along the way that I ignored? The ones that could have saved me from this embarrassment if only I had paid attention back then.
“Sienna, I'm sure we can work this out. Please don't leave me.”
Once again I ignored him as I threw one of my bags on the bed and started tossing clothes into it.
“Sienna, I'm talking to you!” he yelled as he grabbed my wrists.
I screamed and st
ruggled to break free but his grip was too tight. “Xander, what are you doing? Let me go,”
“You're not leaving me!”
Sienna’s pov“My clients can wait.”“No,” I shook my head. “I’m pretty sure there’s a poor innocent woman who has billions somewhere and her rich husband is sleeping with somebody else and she wants you to help comp the money from the man.”He nodded.“There is, actually. I have two cases like that, but I am on break. I’ve been working nonstop for a year. I need a break, so they’re going to have to forgive me, but I’m not going to work today.”I walked to the car and sat in the passenger seat as he entered the driver’s seat and ignited the car.“Where to?”I brought out my phone and gave him the address as he inputted it into the car and we drove off.“So, Gia. Talk now.”He laughed.“Fine, I’ll talk about Gia. She dated Anthony for two years plus, I think, almost three years. I can’t really remember. And they were the perfect couple, according to the news.”“What about according to you?”He shrugged, slowing down before a red light.“Well, according to me, they were like fire and wat
Anthony’s povWe got out of the building as the press ran after us. Luckily for us, the bodyguards stepped in the way to protect us.We entered the car and she fell asleep immediately in the car.I turned to the driver. I tried to speak to him, but I didn’t speak Japanese, which made things worse because Gia was the one taking me around.I got out my phone and tried to call my assistant, but he wasn’t picking up his phone. I tried to call Gia’s assistant, who picked up, but she spoke Japanese, which made things worse.I then looked at the driver, then gave him my address since I didn’t know where Gia lived. He nodded and drove to the place.Throughout the ride, I looked at her. Sprawled across the limo as a smile came on my face. Staying with her brought back little feelings from the past, but things were different now.The moment we got to the hotel, I got out of the car and helped her up to my own penthouse. She wobbled around, then said some things about her falling in love with so
Anthony’s pov“Do they know anything about my marriage?”“Some news sources know about your marriage, some don’t, but it all depends.”I took in deep breaths, then looked away from the balcony as I looked into the party through the glass window.“Well, what do we do?” I asked in concern.“All I can tell you is avoid the media.”“I can’t avoid the media. Most of my dealings are out here in the public.”The door opened with Gia joining me.“I’ll talk to you later.”I then cut the call and looked at a worried Gia.“Was that wifey?”I shook my head.“No, it was Randy.”“Ah,” she scoffed. “Him. He hated me, you know, when we were together.”“He hated you because of what you were wearing whenever we had guests.”“What? That’s why he was mad?”“You could wear a bikini and sit beside me.”“I was in my modeling phase then. I mean, now I cover up a bit, but during that period, yes, I could say I was a bit on the wild side.”She poured our drinks as she sat down beside me while we looked out of
Anthony’s povI stared at the man, then looked at Gia who had her eyes down. I pitied her. She was in a world that didn’t care about what she had to offer.Gia was intelligent. We had dated for a while before things hadn’t worked out and we had gone our separate ways. We had not broken up because of how smart she was or how beautiful she was. It was because we were not compatible. That was it.But Gia was business-driven. She was focused on her job. She was focused on the algorithm and how to boost business. And she was very competitive. If there was one thing I knew about her, it was the fact that she didn’t take no for an answer.I could remember one time when she had finished her degree in modeling classes, and when she tried to get a job, they denied her multiple times. Some male models even tried to sleep with her to give her jobs. But she decided to go on YouTube to model herself. She did, and then she got so much traction she landed jobs all around. And now watching her be one
Anthony’s povWe got to the gala and got out of the car as she hooked onto my arm. Now, on these types of galas, it was wrong for men and women to show up alone. They would be seen as a lone wolf and would be easy pickings for bullies. Yes, even in big societies that were supposed to be civilized like ours, bullies existed.I stood by her, waving to the press, as she whispered into my ears, “Come on now, how about we answer a couple of the questions the press has for us?”I thought it was stupid, but at the same time, I decided to agree with what she had said.“Fine,” I said. “I guess we would go ahead with that. One question only.”We walked to the side as the press put their microphone close to us.“Are you two in a relationship?”I shook my head.“No, we’re not,” I said boldly, as they asked Gia the same thing.Gia looked at me and then looked at the camera and gave the dumbest response I’d heard that day.“Well, to be honest, just because you’re married doesn’t mean you can’t go o
Sienna’s povI didn’t want to pick up the call, but I had no choice. I took in deep breaths. I knew that Randy was calling because he wanted to apologize on the behalf of Anthony. Well, whatever his reason for calling was, I wasn’t going to listen to it. It wasn’t like Anthony and I were married for real. It was only because we wanted things out of each other.I took in deep breaths and then picked up the call.“Hello?”I heard him chuckle across the phone.“Hey, it’s been a long time. I haven’t called in a while, and I really apologize for that.”“It’s okay,” I shrugged, then looked at my computer screen as I started clacking away on my keyboard.“Where are you?”“I’m at work.”He chuckled. “At work? Where? When did you get a job?”I felt insulted a bit, but I took in deep breaths and told myself mentally that I wasn’t going to let anything ruin my day today.“I’ve had a job for a while now, possibly a week.”“Oh, that explains it. Well, congratulations on your new job. Where do you
