Freya's POV

«SIX YEARS LATER.»

I came out of the place slowly walking to the exit of the airport as Sophia and Riley ran around without watching their steps.

"Common, Sophia, caution your sister." It was too exhausting raising two daughters alone but with the help of Donna and Lucas, it became more easier for me.

Donna and Lucas came earlier than us to prepare for my welcoming party and even though I still felt somehow coming back, I was back for one more thing, Revenge.

I know something was fishy about my divorce with Henry, I don't love him anymore but I wouldn't allow just a scheming woman to plan against me.

As much as I know, I know it wasn't a coincidence Linda got pregnant and was able to announce the news before I could get to Henry, or should I say I had no idea what she said or what she saw him for him to completely lose his interest on me.

I don't care because I no longer love him. Just then Riley ran towards the door like she had seen someone and Sophia followed.

"God, these kids." I tried running after them but ended up bumping into someone, the chest was hard, and judging that I had bumped into it hard made me wince in pain.

"Fuck!" I cussed raising my head to meet a familiar blue pair of eyes. The eyes I hadn't seen for years. My jovial face slows and my body red. I realized how much I have longed for.

"Freya?" His tone was shocked and his eyes held an expression I couldn't describe. I rolled my eyes and disengaged from him.

"Watch where you are going Mr Moore," I said and attempted to go my way but he stopped me by helping my hand, I frowned instantly, and my brow twitched in anger.

"Let go," I said gently, trying not to sound rude or angry so he'd let me go but he ended up hugging me.

I disengaged immediately slapping him right on his cheek, "How dare you, Henry? Watch how you touch me and respect yourself, you are a family man, not a scumbag." I hissed pushing him out of my way as I went out.

I could hear him calling my name but I was less concerned, my heart was racing. I couldn't believe he could still make my heart race that way after six years but I knew maybe I was scared and that was why I felt that way.

I saw Sophia and Riley with Donna at the door and shook my head, these kids. But it was good as they ran away saving them from meeting Henry or I'll have to come up with a lie on how to deny they weren't his kids.

He was not worthy of being their father. I walked over and hugged Donna before facing the kids, "Girls, what did we always talk about?" I frowned, Sophia pouted, her brown eyes shining, she was a replica of Henry and she mostly reminded me of him.

"No more running anywhere it's crowded." She answered, Riley was looking, her emotion not predictable, she was looking more like me but got her attitude from Henry.

"I'm sorry Mom." She softly said. Donna tugged me lightly which made me chuckle, maybe I was being too harsh.

"Okay, damsel. No more running, now let's go home to meet Grandma and Grandpa." They squealed happily as we walked to the car.

«THREE DAYS LATER.»

«AT THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEW PRESIDENT OF WILSON GROUP.»

The door opened as I walked in gracefully, my long shiny slit silver gown shining as it backed me up complimenting my skin.

The spotlight was on me as I walked in, I dropped Sophia and Riley off with Mom and Dad so they wouldn't be running around carelessly.

Alina came to meet me to accompany me to my seat, I wouldn't lie, she felt as though she had changed a lot. From her personality to the way she relates now.

She had been apologizing all these while after dad told her about it and I think from the report given, she had changed a lot.

I don't know what changed because she doesn't like me and I knew it was evident she doesn't so coming to me and trying to play being nice was weird.

And the company developed more lately, maybe because I was also working hand with her. Dad was thinking of making her the vice president since the space wasn't available for a long time but I felt that was what she wanted.

I didn't want to sound jealous or rude so I didn't argue with Dad, she'll be announced as the vice president today also.

The banquet was huge because everyone was curious to see me. It's been years and I didn't show up even when I was needed, that was because Dad was trying to protect me, he thought someone tried killing me 14 years ago but had no idea I saved someone instead.

He wouldn't listen to my explanation so I gave up explaining, I saw Henry at the side while Linda was in front of him.

She was more trying to get his attention but he wasn't giving her any, okay that's weird. I think he shouts at her because she left his front dejectedly walking back to her father.

Maybe they were not in a good relationship. Could it be there was more than I thought?

Henry saw me, and I could see the hurt in his eyes, even though he tried standing up to meet me I could tell he was controlling himself.

That must have been because of the incident at the airport. Linda traced his eyes and saw me, seeing he looked away already, she walked over to me. Here comes the bitch again.

"Hey, so what are you doing here?" She smiled, does she think I wouldn't see past her fake smile?

"Green tea bitch." I muttered in response and smiled. She widened her eyes in shock as I walked past her without giving her face.

"Hey, how dare you walk out on me. Is it because of your dress, you just hooked up with one of the old wealthy…" I interrupted her with a loud slap on her right cheek.

I've heard enough of the disrespect.

"I thought you knew better," I whispered into her ear, that should give her a clue. Everyone was staring at us.

Henry was surprised too but I glared at him looking away. He should have realized by now that I'm no longer the lady he left 6 years ago.

"For the most important reason we are here today, the announcement of the new president and vice president to the Wilson group ." Everyone cheered.

Due to the announcement, everyone's attention was focused on Dad now.

"Everyone, please welcome the new vice president to the Wilson group, the second daughter of the Wilson family, Alina Wilson." I let out a smile as she walked towards the stage in shock.

She probably wasn't expecting it. She must have thought she'd be the director as planned but maybe I had misunderstood her, she must have changed.

Everyone knew her as the adopted daughter of the Wilson family and I think that was why she was always being against everything, maybe that was why she was always jealous of me.

She must have thought I had everything being the original daughter but if only she knew I just wanted an ordinary lifestyle and that was why I stayed away from everything all this while.

Not because I wanted her to be my shadow and protect me, and it was because Dad didn't listen to my explanation and decided I was attacked and almost killed.

She looked at me after getting to the stage and I smiled giving her a positive look. She gave me a weird smug look but it was covered up with a smile.

"Everyone, please welcome the new president to the Wilson group, the eldest daughter of the Wilson family, Freya Wilson formally known as Freya Moore." The spotlight set on me as I walked to the stage.

I could see the shock on Henry and Linda's faces asI stood on the stage with everyone looking at me.

Henry’s POV –"You don’t remember me,” he said, his voice gravelly and low, the kind that vibrated under your skin and lingered too long in your mind. “But I remember you."There was something about the way he stood half in shadow, face obscured by a hood and low-drawn cap that made the sterile hospital room suddenly feel like a trap. The soft beep of the monitor beside me seemed to slow, as if time itself were trying to process what was unfolding.“I was tasked with a single job," the man continued, his tone shifting from eerie calm to something more jagged, more unhinged. "To kill Freya. And you...” he took a single step forward, the floor creaking softly under his boot “...you just had to disrupt that.” His voice rose now, sharp and accusatory, echoing against the tiled walls. My heart thudded painfully in my chest. I could feel the blood drain from my face, but I forced myself upright, ignoring the sharp pull in my side. The stitches screamed, but I didn’t flinch. I needed to stay

Freya’s POVThe clock had slid well past midnight by the time Lucas and I finally stepped out of the office building. The heavy glass doors swung shut behind us with a dull thud, sealing away the stress and urgency we had fought through only hours earlier.Outside, the night air was cooler, laced with the faint smell of rain on asphalt. It was one of those strange city nights, quiet but alive, where every distant siren or car horn echoed louder than usual.Lucas walked beside me, hands jammed into his jacket pockets. His easy smile had dimmed to a softer, almost protective expression."You sure you’re okay?" he asked, breaking the silence.I glanced at him, managing a small smile. "I’m fine. Really. Just... tired."He nodded slowly, like he didn’t fully believe me but wasn’t going to push. That was one of the things I appreciated about Lucas,he knew when to joke and when to simply exist beside me.“Just stay safe, alright?” he said after a beat, his voice low and serious. “I know you l

Freya's POVWhen I left Henry’s hospital room, I felt a strange mixture of relief and sorrow battling in my chest. Relief because he was alive. Because I had seen him, heard his voice, and knew he’d make it through. But sorrow... that was the heavier weight, the one I couldn’t shake off even as I walked down the corridor. The hallway felt cold despite the neutral white lighting and polished tiles. I wrapped my arms around myself, not from the chill, but from the way my heart had twisted the moment Linda stepped into that room. She hadn’t said a word to me, and she didn’t need to. Her presence alone had said enough. She was his wife. His wife.Even now, those words cut deeper than I cared to admit. Rationally, I knew she had the right to be there. She was the one who had stood by his side these past few years. She was the one he’d chosen, no matter the reasons or circumstances. But emotionally? Emotionally, it felt like walking into a room filled with smoke, barely able to breathe, kno

Henry's POVThe finality of everything my uncle said to me was echoing louder than it should have in the sterile quiet of the room.I stared at it for a long moment.Maybe he was right. His words, harsh, unfiltered, but painfully true, coiled around my chest like vines, tightening with each breath. He had always been the one who saw through my polished image, through the power suits and conference calls, right into the chaos I tried to tuck neatly behind a perfect life. You can’t keep dragging two women through your indecision. He said it like it was simple. Like choosing between duty and desire, past and present, was just a matter of flipping a coin. But what if both sides were scarred?I ran a hand through my hair and stared out the window. The city pulsed in the distance, uncaring, indifferent. Cars zipped down the highway. People lived their lives. No one outside these four walls knew what it felt like to be me in this moment, broken in body, split in heart.A soft knock at the door

Henry’s POVMorning arrived slowly, like a guilty whisper slipping through the slats of the blinds. It didn’t bring peace or clarity, just light. Unwanted and unrelenting.I lay still, staring at the ceiling with bloodshot eyes and a mind far too awake for the amount of sleep I hadn’t gotten. The scent of antiseptic and faint hospital-grade coffee still clung to the air. The beeping of my heart monitor was the only sign that something inside me was still functioning on autopilot. My side ached a little showing progression in my recuperation, a low, hot burn from the knife wound that I was doing a decent job of pretending didn’t hurt as much as it did. Every breath reminded me of that night. The rush. The chaos. Freya’s scream. The flash of steel. And then, pain. My own blood. Not hers.I’d saved her. At least… I hoped I had.But the cost?My body was healing. My mind? Not so much. The door to my hospital room slid open with a mechanical hiss. I didn’t look up. The nurse had probably re

Henry's POVThe room was quiet, too quiet. Not the comforting kind of quiet where you feel safe and tucked away from the world, but the kind that pressed down on your chest and made every breath feel like it echoed off the walls. Even with the steady, mechanical beeping of the heart monitor beside me, the silence felt oppressive. It wrapped around me, thicker than the hospital blankets, making me aware of every ache in my body and every regret in my soul.I lay still, my body sore from the surgery, stitches tugging at my side with each shallow breath. The light above me was dimmed to a dull, yellowish glow, artificial and cold, casting long, sharp shadows on the ceiling. Occasionally, the flicker of headlights danced across the blinds from the street outside, painting brief, ghostly shapes on the walls. It reminded me of how fleeting everything is,how quickly light passes, how quickly warmth fades.Freya and Linda had left hours ago.Even now, I could still feel the ghost of Freya's pre
