Celeste's POV

I was in the middle of sorting through some underwear when the maid peeked in, holding a tray with a small fruit salad.

“Miss Celeste, Miss Devereux is calling for you. She’s in the garden.”

“The garden?” I asked, my voice tighter than I intended.

“Yes,”

I took a deep breath and set everything aside.

“Alright,” I murmured, brushing past the maids as they watched me with curious eyes.

The sun was dipping lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the perfectly manicured lawn. I spotted Matilda seated on a wrought-iron bench, her gaze fixed on the horizon.

“You’re here,” she said softly, turning her head just enough for me to see the faintest curve of a smile. I approached cautiously.

“Hi… Matilda.” Even after so long using her name still feels strange to me. “You sent for me?” She nodded, her hands folded neatly on her lap.

“I wanted to talk to you.” taking a sip of whatever is in her cup. Herbal tea if I had to guess. My heart stuttered.

“Talk… about what?”

  • The Billionaire’s Fake Bride    Chapter 55- A Stranger's Mercy

Celine's POV I could have begged Lucien. God knows I wanted to. I wanted to fall to my knees and clutch at him and scream that it wasn’t what he thought. That I wasn’t what they said. That I wasn’t a liar. That I wasn’t crazy. That I wasn’t this horrible, horrible person they had painted me to be.But I didn’t.Because when he looked at me like that, like I was a stranger — my voice just… died.So now I am alone. And it feels deserved. Because maybe I actually am just that bad.The doctor speaks, the nurse hands me papers, someone tells me to drink water and rest. Their mouths move but I’m somewhere else entirely. I am still standing in that room. Still hearing my name spoken like I was a killer on the run.Still hearing him say leave.I sign where they tell me to sign. I nod when they ask me anything. I keep one hand over my stomach because I can’t help it now. It was my only anchor to the world. I don’t even know if I deserve to touch this child growing inside me, but I do it anywa

  • The Billionaire’s Fake Bride    Chapter 54- The Cherry On Top

Ava’s POVThe mansion felt a bit too silent than Ava liked it to be. She was still in a good mood from everything that happened that she felt like she was levitating when she strode through the house. The living room smelled faintly of old wood and expensive leather. Everyone else had retreated to their corners of the mansion, worried, shocked or angry. Ava, however, had work to do. Lucien sat in front of his floor to ceiling window in his study, his back rigid and his hands clasped like a king on trial. His eyes flicked to her when he heard his door shut. Ava's lips curved almost imperceptibly. The look alone, equal parts pain and suspicion, made her stomach tighten with satisfaction. Good. Let him be wary. She thought to herself.“Lucien,” she said lightly in a milky soft, seductive tone. She carried two glasses in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. “I thought you might want a drink.” she said, but what she means is, ‘let us celebrate.’Lucien didn't respond, just stay

  • The Billionaire’s Fake Bride    Chapter 53- Abandoned

Celine’s POVI am doing the walk of shame.I don’t know how long I stood outside crying. Minutes, hours, lifetimes? I have no clue, but when I finally turn back and step inside the room, when it is time to leave, every eye is on me, judging me.Elara looks incredulous. Hurt. Betrayed. The look in her eyes makes me feel like I'm a horrible human being, and I don't deserve to live. Everyone else looks at me like I am something ugly. Something rotten. Something they wished they’d never touched. And the worst part is that, everything happening to me feels justified, like they are right to judge me. This is all my fault.Every step I take feels like walking through scorching hot fire. Every breath feels short.I deserve this.I deserve for my life to be ruined.Thankfully, my feet somehow remember how to move. My head stays bowed because I don’t think I’ll survive if I see their faces again. If I see him again.Lucien.Although I have a feeling he has left this place already, he wants not

  • The Billionaire’s Fake Bride    Chapter 52- Ava’s Victory

Ava’s POVIf peace were a living thing, it would sound exactly like the sharp gasp that ripples through the room when the truth finally comes out.Celine… dear, perfect, precious little Celine, stands frozen beneath the chandeliers, every gaze slicing into her, every whisper about how horrible one woman could possibly be directed to her. The shocked faces, especially on that big-mouthed Elara, made Ava want to cry tears of joy. It is beautiful.Ava stands at the corner of the room, champagne glass barely brushing her lips, watching the carefully-built life crumble. Celine looks so small now. Not so proud. If the death of her fake child hadn’t done anything to affect these people, their sweet little ‘Celeste’ being an imposter sure did the magic. And God… Ava has never felt more alive. I warned that bitch, she should have taken my advice and saved herself the trauma, Ava thought to herself as she took a sip. This was a mere spat compared to what she had done to keep Lucien in the past.

  • The Billionaire’s Fake Bride    Chapter 51 - Bitter Confession

Celine’s POV“What is she talking about…?” Vanessa whispers, and Lucien turns to me, confusion flickering across his features. There’s no accusation there, just blatant bewilderment.Ava waves a hand theatrically.“I know what you’re thinking,” she laughs lightly. “How can we believe you? Why should we?” She turns around.“Well,” she says. “You can ask her yourself. Tell them the truth, Celeste, is that even your real name?” She grins so high her cheeks must hurt. I shake my head and step back. Everything is spinning, and I feel tears prick my eyes.“That’s a lie. You’re lying, Ava.” My throat feels coarse and raw that it hurts. “That isn’t what happened at all.” Lucien looks at me with confused eyes.“Right, sure, so you admit to everything else, yes?” I stay silent, feeling the tears well up, but I do my best not to let it fall. I can’t. I just can’t.“Celeste?” Lucien mouths with confusion. I fiddled with my fidgeting fingers, but the next information Ava dropped was the real bombs

  • The Billionaire’s Fake Bride    Chapter 50- My worst nightmare

Celine’s POV A cheerful hum of laughter fades when Ava lifts her glass and gently taps a silver spoon against the rim. The sound rings through the hall like a bell summoning judgment. Conversations taper off. Heads turn in her direction but a few smiles remain. There is something electric threading through the air that feels stronger than the usual sensation I get when Ava is present. My skin prickles with discomfort.“Good evening, everyone,” Ava beams, bright and sugary sweet. The bad kind of sweet that rots teeth. Her eyes sweep the room.“I’m so glad you could all make it tonight. Truly. What a beautiful night to celebrate… family.”I spotted Elara by Matilda; it seems she had just shown up. She lifts one brow, as if already tired of whatever performance Ava is about to stage. Vanessa tilts her head, curious. Even the staffs pause mid-stride.My throat dries completely and starts to itch.Ava continues, perfectly poised.“Before I begin — I just want to say how grateful I am to
