Chapter Twenty-Five

“No you don’t.” I snapped.

“Yes I do.”

“No!”

“This isn’t up for discussion,” he waved my panicked self off with a cold calmness that l infuriated me deeply, “I’m coming with you. End of story.”

“He’s my son!” I snapped at him, “I should be the one there.”

Dominic glared at me angrily now, having I poke the bear, “He’s mine too. The difference is you kept him away from me.”

“It’s not like—

Chapter Twenty Six “Your mother is distressed,” He said, barely acknowledging any pleasantry, “I did raise you to be weak, Dominic.” “You raised me to protect my own.” I fired balm. Cold. Precise. Hitting right on the nail like a Volkov would. His jaw tightened, “The girl is an outsider.” “The woman,” I corrected with an adamance, “Is my wife and mother of your grandchild. Maybe you should take some time to come see the boy for yourself, and pay less to the words of my mother.” “She’s my wife. I have to listen to her.” “Now who’s the weak one?” Tensed silence followed. My father was trying his possible best not to rise to my bait; a typical Volkov trait. Keep silent when provoked, and strike whilst your enemy least expects it. Volkovs do not rage. We punish when the time is right. “Your insolence will be forgiven just this once, “I see you’re willing to go to war for this wife of yours. Same as I will do for mine.” “Then we’ve reached an impas

Now you’re trying to keep me away, “ His jaw tightened, “Care to tell me why?” Scared. I was scared. In the eyes of the rest of the world, I was a gold digging secretary who seduced her boss and produced his child. Tomorrow would be our first time going out publicly as a family, in a hospital, where gossip ran the quickest through the bored nurses looking for a quick source of entertainment. “It’s…it’s nothing.” I

Chapter Twenty-four.~.~.~AMELIA.~.~.~ I couldn’t believe my eyes. Dominic Volkov, a man known for being a terror in the eyes or anything corporate was being peed on by a one month old. The gobsmacked look on his face was priceless. “I suppose I might have miscalculated this part of the baby book.” He mumbled under his breath and I finally bursted into laughter. It was the funniest thing I’d ever seen. Clad in his now rumpled suit and soiled with the funky stench of his son’s urine. My heart felt lighter than it had in almost a year, and it was all thanks to him. “Funny,” deadpanned, he quickly wrung out of his shirt revealing a simple white tank underneath, “I’m happy you find my uncompromising state amusing, Amelia.” I giggled now, almost catching a smile at the corner of his mouth, one which quickly died down and returned to the controlling mask he bore onto like his life depended on it. “Go change,” I dismissed him, still having small tiffs of

Chapter Twenty-Three “Wh—“ She shrieked, sharply turning around as she grabbed a blanket to cover her risqué appearance, “Jesus Volkov, care to knock a little?!” “I don’t need permission to see my son,” I tried my best to conceal the amusement in my voice, “What is that?” She rolled her eyes surreptitiously, thinking I probably wouldn’t notice. My presence was clearly bothering her, I was inclined even more to stay now. “It’s a breast pump.” “A breast pump.” I repeated. Her brow arched, “You don’t know what it is do you?” “No I do not.” I answered glumly. She sighed, my heart pounding at the rosiness of her cheeks which seems to only happen whenever she was shy or embarrassed, “It’s used to get Mikhail’s milk into his bottle. I don’t necessarily have to breast feed him directly.” “Oh,” I mouthed, “But studies show that babies……” my voice trailed off. “Studies?” She lifted a brow in question. “Nevermind.” I brushed it off. As

Chapter Twenty-Two.^.^.^DOMINIC.^.^.^ “Uhhhh….are you sure Mr Volkov?” Natasha, my new secretary was practically gobsmacked by my request. My brows tightened, “I don’t pay you to question me, Miss Hassan. I’m on a time crunch, do as you’re told or leave the building.” She nodded frantically and bolted outside in the blink of an eye. I was in a feisty mood this morning, having fired over six staff members and yelling at practically everyone who crossed my way and acted out of the ordinary. They were pretty used to my glooming presence by now, having being tagged as the ‘Wicked wizard of east end’, but today was different. I just wasn’t angry. I wanted to destroy everything. My mother thought she was doing herself a favor by pegging Amelia for a gold digger, offering her a great deal of money to leave me which is absurd. My mother has never been one to care about my love life, neither did she really have this much disdain over the women I have brought in the past

  • The Billionaire’s Fortune Baby    Twenty One

Chapter Twenty-One “Pardon?” I managed to ask, seeing as I wasn’t sure I got the question she asked first. “I have no time for games,” her brows creased into a tight V—a feature I had noticed Dominic possessed too, “How much would it take for you to leave my son.” I blinked. My face was wrapped in bemusement as I simply couldn’t believe the words blurting right out of her mouth. The concept of a mother paying the son’s lover to leave him was a cliche that had existed in most forms of romantic media I’d indulged in during my spare time. I simply wasn’t expecting the same to happen to me. “I have a son,” my voice was hoarse and meek, but she really needed to know I wasn’t the gold digger she pegged me for, “I’m sorry I can’t— “You seduced my son.” My head finally sprang up, I shook my head in vehement refusal, “I did not!” “You seduced my son,” she repeated, “Otherwise there’s no plausible reason for Dominic to fight so hard for me to accept you.”
