Chapter 2

"All are packed?"

I looked at Mr. Lincoln who had just gotten into the dining area. I just came here from upstairs and I am already. I just wore a green shirt and I paired it with denim jeans and white shoes. My bag is just small since it is our first day today, and I am hundred percent sure that we will just introduce ourselves.

I smiled at Mr. Lincoln and nodded my head in response.

"Y-yes."

He smiled at me too and offered his hand.

"Come on, take a seat. Eat your breakfast first."

I followed what he did and sat down next to him.

"Good morning by the way," I greeted before I forget. Then, I looked at Mrs. Lincoln who is currently sipping his coffee. "Good morning Mrs. Lincoln."

She, then, smiled at me.

"Mom. Just call me mom," she replied and looked at Mr. Lincoln. Mr. Lincoln raised his brows and looked at me with an I-told-you-and-you-have-no-choice look.

"M-mom," I tried to speak it and his smile went bigger.

"And me?"

"D-dad?"

"Oh great!" He happily said and even clapped his hand because of what he had heard.

Then, they started laughing and making me feel comfortable with them. Mr. Lincoln and Mrs. Lincon tried their very best to not make me feel left out. They offered me food, asked me how was my stay here-- and everything about me.

It's only a week since I got here. And to be honest, it was not easy because Bridget wouldn't dare to talk to me. I tried to reach her out, but she was too high to reach that I couldn't even stay nearer to her. She disgusted me so much, and it was so obvious in her treatment how she wanted me to be gone here in this house. However, along with that-- I made friends with their helpers. We became close actually and they were all nice to me. I helped them with the chores even though Mr. Lincoln told me I don't have to, but I insisted and it made my heart full if I am helping them in the house since this house was too big for them to clean each day.

"Where's Bridget, Gabriella?"

I looked at Mr. Lincoln and continued eating my pancake. And one more thing I like here, the food is so good. No joke! They serve the best food every day!

"I don't know, but you know your daughter. She wants the best for herself, so I assumed, she prepares for this day so much," Mrs. Gabriella smiled at us. Then, she looked at me.

"How about you?"

My brows furrowed when she asked me. Why? What about me?

"I mean, are you fine with you..." she paused and scanned me. "Yeah, with your clothes." She smiled.

"Oh, yes. I'm fine with this," I automatically answered.

"Oh, okay," she shrugged. "Anyways, that's you. I can't tell you what to wear."

Then, she laughed and looked at my back. Why? Is there something wrong with my clothes?

"Oh, there she is, our lovely daughter! Wow! You looked stunning, Bridget!"

She spoke in awe. So, I immediately turned my back and faced Bridget. My jaw dropped as I watched her walking inside the dining room. I couldn't even blink because of how gorgeous she is in her button-down barn red dress with a white long sleeve inner top, and then red leathered shoes. Her hair was curly and there has a white silver headdress on it. She got to the stage.

"Hi, dad and mom! Good morning!" She greeted and passed by me, then kissed her dad and mom. They looked at Bridget with so much love in their eyes, and I couldn't stop myself from smiling while seeing how happy they are as a family. I hope everyone has.

"Baby, you looked good!" Her mom complimented her and even hugged her.

"I know right!" Bridget responded and they both giggled.

"Right, dad?" She looked at her dad.

Her dad nodded his head.

"You are a grown-up lady now. Are you excited on your first day of school?"

"Of course!" she answered and sat down next to her mom.

"That's good. I can't wait to send you off later in school," he replied and looked at me while smiling.

I smiled at him too. Then, I shifted my gaze to Bridget but she just rolled her eyes at me so I bowed my head to hide my embarrassment in front of his family. I'm kind of comfortable with Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln because they are always making me feel at home, however, if I am with Bridget, I feel like... stranger. A stranger who she could just ignore and make me think that I am not on her level. Though, I understand her. I am just praying that one day we can get along even not just as sisters but as friends.

"Dad, can I ask for a favor?" She blurted out, so I looked at her again.

"Sure, what's that baby?"

She smiled at her dad and spoke. "Can Sav-- Savannah, right?" she looked at me so I nodded my head. I smiled because finally, she recognized me.

"Yeah, Savannah. So, can Savannah ride in another car?"

Ohh.

My smile faded slowly as she glared at me.

"Oh, why baby?" Mr. Lincoln asked.

She rolled her eyes again for the nth time.

"Of course, dad! Duh! I can't just be with her in the same car. What if everyone in the school will see her? Look at her! Look at her outfit! Gosh! It's so old fashion! What will everyone say if they see her jump out from where I hop out? Do you know? That is so embarrassing! I can't embarrass myself on the first day of school--"

"Bridget. Shh, honey," Mr. Lincoln cut her off. "You can't say that to her. She is your sister now, so you must be nice to her."

I bowed my head and looked at my shirt. I don't see anything wrong with my clothes, why does she react like that? Everyone wears this.

"She is not my sister, and will never be my sister!"

"Bridget! Enough!" Mr. Lincoln's voice volume up.

"But dad--"

"Don't ruin our day, Bridget. Stop being so immature, act your age."

I got scared at how he handled it so calmly yet so scary. Bridget shut her mouth and there were no complaints after Mr. Lincoln's last words. The breakfast ended and Bridget went out first with her mother. I was left with Mr. Lincoln, and as I got my bag, he spoke.

"I am sorry for what my daughter said."

I looked at him and smiled.

"It's fine, Mr-- d-dad," I responded. "I understand her. Don't worry about me."

He nodded his head and tapped my hand.

"You will get along soon. Maybe let's just give her time for now."

I nodded my head and we both walked outside.

As we got in the car, she looked at me with a deadly look. Mr. Lincoln was in his driver's seat while Mrs. Lincoln was seated beside him in the front seat. Meanwhile, Bridget is on the left side of the backseat and now- I am on the right side.

Mr. Lincoln started the engine. No one talked until we got to the school.

"Take care honey, okay?" Mrs. Lincoln reminded Bridget.

"Yes, I will, mom!" she then kissed her parents and got off in the car.

"You too, Sav."

I smiled at Mrs. Lincoln.

"You both take care and enjoy!" Mr. Lincoln added and I nodded my head in response.

As soon as I got off, I saw Bridget run off the entrance. I was even about to ask her if she knows her schedule, only to find out that she was avoiding me. There are a lot of students talking, catching up with each other, and hugging like they missed each other. Meanwhile, there are still a lot of students who are looking at their papers, probably the one I am handling right now, which is our schedule.

Finally, I entered the campus and I must say I do not belong there. Everyone was looking at me, the same look that Bridget and Mrs. Gabriella gave me. Is this because of my clothes? Why? Just because they wear expensive clothes and I wear thrift clothes, does not mean they can give me that look.

I sighed.

What do I expect?

I am enrolled in this prestigious and most expensive school. I can't blame them.

I was about to turn my way to the left when I saw Bridget. No- she was with three girls. Just like her, they are all stunning! They looked like a runaway model and the hallway is theirs. Like what happened to me, everyone was watching them. The only difference is- they gave them a better look.

"Omg, is that Bridget? No way she became even prettier!"

"I know right! Even Claudette. Damn!"

"Gosh, I want to be part of their group!"

Lots of reactions are starting to fill the hallway, which made me think that Bridget is quite famous here in this school. Now, I get why she didn't want me to be her friend and in her car-- I didn't pass her standard.

Before she could even see me, I turned around and looked at my paper. Maybe I start finding my room now.

I started searching in the lobby. I saw a janitor who just passed by, so I didn't hesitate to run toward him and asked.

"Hello! Good morning! Can I ask?" I politely asked.

He was a little bit shocked when I approached him, but as he looked at me from head to toe, he answered.

"Sure, what is it?"

I smiled at him and spoke, "Thank you! Ahmm, here... I can't find the room LC11, can you tell me where is it?"

The janitor smiled at me and instructed me on my way. As soon as he finished, I heard some girls chattering behind us.

"Aw, so sweet. Even though he is just a janitor, he still managed to enroll his daughter here."

"Yeah, right. God bless him."

I looked at the two girls and they immediately smiled at me and walked away. My brows knitted upon realizing what they just said.

Lmao, I am not his daughter, but whatever.

"Oh, that room is..." he turned around, remembering something but he seemed to forget about it based on his reaction. He awkwardly laughed and looked back at me. "Forgive me because I'm too old to remember everything, but I guess you can go straight there and turn left, you will see the stairs and you go upstairs. That is the LC Building, you just need to find the number 11 in each door, then you are at your room."

He doesn't seem like an old guy for giving me detailed instructions.

I thanked him for the help and went to the location he was pointing. It was easy to remember since he gave me explicit instructions, so I went upstairs and looked for room 11, and there I found it. I was kind of amazed at how this school was called expensive when all of the rooms here had no doors.

I just shrugged off and fixed myself. I took a deep breath and was about to enter the room when someone bumped me in that made me stop and looked at... them.

Yeah... it's them.

"Gosh, why are you so naive? Can't you see you are blocking the way?"

The one with blonde hair spoke.

"I am sorry," I immediately said and stepped back, but I regretted doing it because I stepped on her heels.

Her eyes widened and pushed me.

"What the fuck?! Don't you know that this is more expensive than your life?!" She shouted.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to."

"You freak! Don't you know me?!"

"Hush, Maiena. It's the first day of school and seems like she is a newbie. Let her pass this time, okay? We don't bully new girls here, right Bridget?" The girl with dark brown curly hair added.

I looked at Bridget. She looked skeptical to answer but I could see straight in her eyes how she wanted me to vanish in front of her. Before she could even answer, I stepped back and gave the way to them. I was thankful enough when they decided to leave.

"Come on, girls. We don't waste our time on this junk girl."

And just like that, everyone laughed at what Bridget said.

"We are not done yet!" Maiena glared at me.

I bowed my head as they got inside the room.

I was a little bit shocked when someone touched my hand, so I looked back to see who it was.

"Hey, good morning, young lady. Are you one of my students?"

I was speechless when I saw how beautiful she is. Her eyes were black, her nose was pointed, and her lips were as red as cheery. Her formal white blouse and trousers with 3 inches heels brought so much class. I mean, do people here really look so expensive? Because I couldn't afford it.

"G-good morning--"

"Ms. Lavender," she cut me off.

"Good morning, Ms. Lavender. Yeah." I smiled at her even though I was a little bit nervous right now.

"Then, let's go!" And she went inside, smiling from ear to ear.

"Good morning class!" she greeted the whole room and so my classmates greeted back.

"Good morning, Ms. Lavender!"

She smiled at everyone and then looked at me. "It seems like we have a new student here, come on young lady, get inside." She signaled me to come while still not removing her sweetest smile.

I looked around and saw that everyone was looking at me. So, I took a deep breath again and stepped in. As I went inside, I heard Bridget speak.

"Kindly close the door as you enter!" she shouted and smiled at me.

I was lost for once I looked for a door. Seconds later, I heard everyone's laugh.

"She's so stupid."

"Gullible."

"As if we have doors here!"

"A public girl!"

And numerous nasty comments that made me put in shame.

"Shh! Stop now! She's just new here. Let's welcome her instead, okay?" Ms. Lavender spoke.

"And educate of course," Bridget said and they laughed so hard again.

I don't know if I still have the face to show, because I am extremely shy right now and want to go home.

Mrs. Lavender helped me to get inside and find my chair. She told everyone to be nice to me since I am just new here. The class was over and I immediately fixed my things so that I could leave this messy room.

"Oops, sorry!"

My lips gape as I felt hot on my uniform. Slowly, I turned around and saw the girl who was called Maiena with a coffee cup in her hand.

"I just think that you have to pay for stepping on my lovely shoes earlier, so I have to put some stain on your shirt. We are quits now." She smirked. "It is not that quits because compared to my shoes from your... ugly shirt? It's incomparable!"

"Why don't you just transfer new school?" Bridget interrupted.

She took the coffee cup from Maine's hand and poured it into my head.

"This is just only a warning. If you don't transfer right now, expect more like this." Then, she threw me the cup and they left me alone inside the room.

I didn't know that I was too weak for this, I cried.

I am not prepared for this.

"You need help?"

I was stunned as I heard someone's voice. I immediately turned around to look if someone was there, and it didn't disappoint me.

I saw a beautiful man standing right in front of me.
