FINN.
After waiting for over five hours for Scarlett to return, I became worried. I didn't know how to find her and it seemed she had turned on the do-not-disturb feature on her phone. She seemed upset when she came into my office and I hadn't had the time to ask why.Well, I had the time. I just wasn't in the mood. Once the clock struck half past four, I decided that I was tired of waiting for her. I had to find her or something. Going towards the elevator, I met Abigail. She was talking with Omar. "Hey, Abby," I stopped. "Have you any idea where your boss went? I haven't seen her all day." Abby shook her head. "I have no idea. She told me she's going to be unavailable for the whole of today," "Have you tried calling her?" Abigail laughed. "Calling her is like pouring water on a rock. Whenever she says she's unavailable, she always is. Calls don't go through and textsFINN. Engagement, huh? So they were getting engaged soon. That was why she has been acting weird. I dropped her phone back on the couch and followed her into the laundry room where I pulled off my clothes. I took a clean towel and wrapped it around my waist before stepping out of the laundry room. The rain had stopped but from the way thunder rumbled in the distance, I knew it was still going to rain again. I found Scarlett standing in the living room with her phone in her hand. She looked really upset. It had to be that text her father sent to her. Sighing, I walked towards her. I pulled her into my arm and kissed the crook of her neck. "You smell really nice. Forgot to tell you today," She smiled and slipped her phone into her pocket. "You smell nice too. In a masculine way." "Hmm... You look upset. What's wrong?" "Upset?" She laughed. "No, I am not. I'm just really tired and all. From everything that happened today. Kelvin and his impromptu visit."
SCARLETT. I woke up to my phone buzzing on my lap. It was still three am in the night and I wondered who could be sending me a text by now. Picking up my phone, I turned it on to see a text message from none other than Kelvin. Why the fuck was he texting me? And just like that, my mood turned sour. I gently pulled away from Finn's hold, hoping that somehow he wouldn't wake up. He didn't. I climbed out of the bed and padded my way across the room. I gently unlocked the door and left the room to the living room. He had sent this text minutes ago so I knew he was still awake. I dialed his number and he picked up after the third ring. "Hello, future wife," I heard the thick sarcasm in his voice and my fists clenched. I wished I had actually learned boxing when my ex-boyfriend back in high school suggested it. It would have come in handy right now. But no, I had chickened out because I believed it was a masculine thing to do. "Can you stop addressing me
FINN. I woke up as early as five the next morning. Scarlett was still asleep but as soon as she noticed I was no longer on the bed, she whined and called after me. "Where are you, Finn?" I smiled and walked back to her bed with my shirt in my hand. "Here, Scar. I am getting ready to go back. I'll get changed and return before eight." She opened her eyes and turned to face me. She looked so beautiful even with her sleepy face. Her hair fanned out behind her and her arm fell on the side of her waist. She was effortlessly sexy this morning. The duvet sparsely covered her body. Her feet peeked out from underneath the duvet, showing off her cherry-red toenails. She stared at me with a small smile on my face as I drew my slacks up to my waist. Just as I was about to button up, she spoke. "Take them off," I stopped for a brief moment. "Are you being serious right now? You just watched me put them on and now you want me to take them off?" She threw back her c
SCARLETT.I was happy today. I knew why. I welcomed it. I didn't know settling things with Finn could bring this much peace. Yesterday, I had felt really uncomfortable, like there was a heavy weight in my chest and as soon as he agreed to come back, it was lifted off immediately and I felt relieved.Today was a really busy day for me. To take my mind off my problems, I immersed myself in work. During lunch break, I stayed back to make a few calls and after lunch, I decided to take a break. Finn was still in his office, reading a book. I went in and snatched the book from his hand before dumping it on the table beside him. He sighed and looked up at me. "What's up, Scar? I was just reading a very juicy part of this magazine. History of fashion or whatever it's called—""We're going out for lunch.""Huh?" He asked with his brows raised in askance. "You heard me. We're going out for lunch. I missed lunch,"Nodding he folded the page he was reading into a dog eat and stood to his feet
FINN. I was still in the cubicle, waiting and wondering what was taking her so long when I heard a knock on the door. It had to be Teyanna. She was the last person I wanted to see right now. I had told her several times that I wasn't interested in anything she had to offer. It wasn't Teyanna standing before me when I opened the door. It was Scarlett and she looked terribly upset. "Scar, what's wrong?" I asked with concern as I pulled her into the office and shut the door. I made sure to lock it before pulling her into my arms. "Something went wrong, right?" She began to sniffle. Her fingers dug into my suit and she began to sob. "Hey, hey," I whispered, pulling away for a few seconds. She was really crying. I led her to my desk and took a seat before turning her face to look at me. "What's wrong?" "They're serious. I thought it was just something they were using to scare me. But I am really getting engaged to Kevin! I feel like my chest is going to expl
FINN. Throughout the drive to the boutique, Scarlett chattered about everything and nothing. I knew she was doing it to stop herself from thinking too much about whatever was going to happen and I also engaged her while cracking some jokes. It got to a point where she went eerily silent, staying quiet for as long as five minutes. I knew she was deep in thought but I said nothing. "I wonder where she's taking me to," Scarlett said as we drove into a boulevard. I followed his mother's car down a street filled with different luxury shops. She stopped at the last shop at the far end of the street and swerved into the parking lot. I slowed the car down into a cruise before turning to look at her. "Are you sure you want to do this, Scarlett?" She laughed. "Like, I have any option? Let's drive in, please. I have no say in this as it is." Nodding, I drove into the parking lot and parked right behind her car. Just as I shut the engine and stepped out from the car, Sca
SCARLETT. Thinking about the time I spent with my mother gave me nothing but a terrible headache and as Finn drove us back to the penthouse, I decided to rest my head for a bit and maybe stop thinking of all the terrible things that were happening to me. "So we are not driving back to the office, are we?" Finn asked from the front seat. I shook my head weakly. "Finn, I do not have the strength to go back in there and look at the faces of my employees. I might just break down into tears and I do not want them seeing me that way," Before he twisted his neck to look at me, I said. "And please, don't look back. Just drive, okay?" He nodded and continued driving. As soon as we got home, he cruised in through the gates and parked properly before killing the engine. He sighed and turned back to look at me. "You don't look okay at all. I am thinking of going to get my belongings and bringing them back there, but I can't leave you." He was being really sweet right no
SCARLETT. I flopped on the seat beside me and cradled my head in my hands. I was shaking uncontrollably. I felt him take a seat beside me before he gathered me into his arms. "Scar..." He whispered and placed his chin on my head. All I wanted to do right now was cry my eyes out. I needed a release in one way or the other. I tugged at his shirt and continued sobbing until no more tears were left to shed. I remained in his arms for a long time before whispering. "Can you take me to my room, please?" "Of course," He said immediately and helped me up. Just before I could take a step forward, he lifted me in his arms and carried me all the way to my room. He kicked the door open with his foot before laying me on the bed. He turned to leave but I grabbed him by the arm. "Stay. Please." He nodded. "I'll just lock the door, okay? I am not going anywhere." I watched him go to the door and once the locks clicked, he turned back. "I said I wasn't going anywher
