The Final Blow

Author: Cassiel Z
Elara's POV

After I said those words, the bedroom fell silent.

Damien stared at me. His face went through several expressions.

Confusion. Disbelief.

Then something that might have been panic.

"Let you go?" he repeated slowly.

"Yes."

"I don't want to let you go."

The words should have meant something. Once upon a time, they would have meant everything to me.

Now they felt empty.

"What you want doesn't matter anymore," I said quietly.

"It does matter." He stepped closer. "We matter. Our marriage matters."

I almost laughed at the irony. After six years of treating our marriage like a burden, now he wanted to claim it mattered.

"Isabella is back now," he continued. His voice grew more confident. "I can finally make things right with her. Give her proper compensation for all the years she lost because of our forced marriage."

Even in his attempt to save our marriage, Isabella came first.

"Once I've settled things with Isabella, I can focus on being a better husband to you. A better father

  • The Billionaire’s Regret After His Daughter Died   The Father's Awakening

Damien's POVBecause Tanya had been frightened by Elara's outburst, Isabella and I decided to take her shopping. The mall was crowded with weekend families. Children running between stores while their parents chased after them with indulgent smiles.I watched Tanya's eyes light up at every toy display. Every colorful storefront."Can we go in there, Daddy?" she asked, tugging at my hand toward a children's boutique. The word 'Daddy' came so naturally from her lips. Without hesitation or fear."Of course, princess," I said, allowing her to lead me inside. For the next two hours, we moved through store after store.Tanya tried on dresses and picked out stuffed animals with boundless enthusiasm."I love this one!" she exclaimed, clutching a soft pink rabbit to her chest."And this one too!" She grabbed a blue elephant with her other hand.Isabella laughed at the growing pile of toys in our shopping cart."You're spoiling her," she said with fond amusement."She deserves to be spoiled."By

  • The Billionaire’s Regret After His Daughter Died   The Cruel Substitution

Elara's POVI woke to the sound of a little girl's laughter drifting up from downstairs. My heart stopped completely. That voice. That sweet, musical giggle I'd memorized from five years of bedtime stories and playground visits."Lily?" I whispered to the empty room.Without thinking, I threw off the covers and ran toward the stairs. My bare feet slapped against the cold marble floors.Could it be possible? Had I been wrong about everything?Maybe the hospital had made a mistake. Maybe some miracle had occurred while I was unconscious. The hope burned in my chest like wildfire.I reached the top of the staircase and looked down into the living room.Damien sat on the elegant sofa. His arms wrapped around a small girl with dark hair. She wore Lily's favorite dress. The pale yellow one with tiny flowers that I'd bought for her last birthday. The child's back was turned toward me. I couldn't see her face. But she was the right size. The right age. Her hair fell in the same soft waves. For

  • The Billionaire’s Regret After His Daughter Died   Delusions and Denial

Damien's POVI carried Isabella to the emergency room. Her face was pale against my shoulder. Her breathing shallow and uneven."Please help her," I told the attending physician urgently. "She's pregnant. Someone attacked her."The words felt surreal leaving my mouth. My wife had assaulted a pregnant woman. The doctor examined Isabella thoroughly while I paced the waiting room like a caged animal. My hands wouldn't stop shaking. The image of Elara striking her kept replaying in my mind. How could she have become so vicious? So completely unrecognizable from the woman I'd married?"Mr. Blackwood?" The doctor emerged after what felt like hours."How is she? Is the baby okay?"My voice cracked with barely controlled panic."Miss Reed is fine," he said with professional calm. "No signs of trauma or distress. The baby appears healthy."Relief flooded through me so intensely."Thank God," I whispered."The stress was concerning, but there's no lasting damage. She can go home tonight with pr

  • The Billionaire’s Regret After His Daughter Died   Too Little, Too Late

Elara's POV"What about Lily?" Damien demanded before I could step away. His voice carried desperate authority. Like he was trying to regain control of a situation spiraling beyond his grasp."My daughter will never call another man daddy. I won't allow it."The possessive declaration hung in the night air between us.I stared at him with bitter amusement. After years of neglecting our child, now he wanted to claim her."You don't need to worry about that," I said. "I don't want Lily's custody either."Damien's face went blank with shock at my words. His grip on the divorce papers loosened."You don't want custody of our daughter?" he asked slowly.Like he couldn't believe what he'd heard.Lily is dead. What custody is there to fight over? The thought echoed in my mind with devastating finality. But I didn't speak it aloud.Damien wouldn't believe me anyway. He never did."There's no need for custody arrangements," I said instead. His gray eyes searched my face desperately. Looking for

  • The Billionaire’s Regret After His Daughter Died   The Lies We Tell

Elara's POVLiam hesitated when I asked about Lily's heart. His brown eyes shifted away from mine for just a moment. Then his hand moved unconsciously toward his face."No," he said finally. "I haven't found anything yet."But I caught the telltale gesture. His fingers brushed against the tip of his nose before falling away. That small habit hadn't changed since we were children.Liam always touched his nose when he lied. Especially when he was trying to protect me from something painful."You're lying," I said quietly.Surprise flickered across his expression at being caught so easily."Elara, I really haven't discovered anything concrete...""Is it related to Isabella?"He went rigid. Just for a second, his mask of calm cracked. That was all the answer I needed."Don't overthink this," he said, his voice gentle but firm. " I truly haven't found any solid evidence yet."But his eyes told a different story. There was knowledge there. Painful knowledge he was trying to shield me from.I

  • The Billionaire’s Regret After His Daughter Died   At Lily's Side

Elara's POVWhen Damien refused to come with me to bury Lily, I didn't cry.But hearing Liam speak to my daughter like this, I broke down completely.Tears streamed down my face as I watched him arrange flowers at her grave.Lily had wanted her father's praise so desperately when she was alive. She'd been such a good, obedient child. But slowly, she learned the truth. Her father was a block of ice.Parent-teacher conferences. School plays. Holiday pageants. It was always just me. Standing alone in a sea of smiling couples.I could still hear her small voice asking the question that had broken my heart."Mommy, why do all the other kids have both parents at school? Why is it always just you?"Her innocent eyes had searched my face for answers I couldn't give."Daddy's just busy, sweetheart," I'd told her, forcing a bright smile. "He loves you very much. Work is just demanding right now.""When will he not be busy anymore?" she'd pressed."Soon, baby. Very soon."But as she grew older, s
