9. Four Years Later

It had been four years since I left my old life behind, the life that had been wrecked. I left my old home. I left my dad. I left Tara and left Uncle Vincent. Leaving everything behind would make me someone new. At least … that’s my goal at that time. I needed to move on. It’s the best for me and my baby.

The same goes for my first semester at the new university. Of course, I left without a heavy heart. I wasn't particularly fond of the major I was pursuing. My mom had insisted on me studying management because I didn't get accepted into medical school. She said it would lead to a good job, just like hers.

So, after my mom left me, my enthusiasm for studying disappeared. The challenges of life I faced at the time were just additional reasons to quit college altogether.
