Chapter 40.

(Kim's Point of View)

I didn't know what hit me as I stood in front of Arthur's door, chewing my lower lip and fiddling with the hem of my shirt, pondering whether or not to walk in.

It was 1 a.m., and I couldn't sleep, and ice cream wasn't doing anything for me after waking up from a nightmare.

I pushed the door slowly, intending to flee the moment he sent me away.

As I reached the bed Arthur was sleeping on, his eyes opened as though he realized I was in his room. I nearly fell over as he focused his attention on me and asked what I was doing in his room.

"I-I-I," I stuttered. He wouldn't get mad, would he? "I can't sleep, can I sleep here with you?"

He looked at me as if I'd suddenly developed a twin head on my shoulder, maybe I have. He rolled his eyes, which I interpreted for approval as I got on the opposite side of the bed, gleefully snuggling beneath the blanket, and finally, I closed my eyes, suddenly feeling so peaceful that I let out a sigh and didn't notice when I slept ou
