Silence.

Heavy.

Sharp.

Daniel stared at me as if he no longer knew the woman standing in front of him.

And honestly?

Maybe he didn’t.

Because the girl who once begged for his attention no longer existed.

“You’ve changed,” he said finally, his voice colder now.

His jaw tightened.

Around us, whispers continued quietly, people pretending not to watch while clearly listening to every word.

Daniel stepped closer.

“Do you really think this marriage is real?” he asked quietly. “You’re just a replacement.”

The words hit harder than I expected.

Replacement.

Before I could respond-

“She’s my wife.”

Alexander’s calm voice cut through the tension instantly.

I looked up.

He had moved beside me without me even noticing.

One hand slipped into his pocket while the other rested lightly against my back.

Possessive.

Protective.

Dangerously convincing.

Daniel laughed bitterly. “You expect me to believe you actually care about her?”

Alexander’s expression didn’t change.

“What I feel,” he said coldly, “is none of your business.”

The atmosphere shifted immediately.

Even Daniel seemed caught off guard.

Because Alexander King was known for many things-

Power.

Control.

Ruthlessness.

But never Public affection.

Vanessa noticed it too.

And she looked furious.

“This is getting ridiculous,” she snapped, walking toward us. “Alexander, everyone here knows this marriage happened out of nowhere.”

“And?” be replied calmly.

“And she doesn’t belong here.”

Her eyes moved toward me with open dislike now.

I felt the insult instantly.

But before I could speak-

Alexander answered first.

“She belongs wherever I decide she belongs.”

The entire room fell silent again.

Even I stopped breathing for a second.

Vanessa stared at him in disbelief.

“You’re defending her?” She asked quietly.

His expression remained unreadable.

“I’m correcting you.”

Something in her face cracked slightly after hearing that.

Hurt.

Humiliation.

Anger.

And suddenly, I realized something important-

Vanessa had feelings for him.

Real feelings.

Which meant this situate was even messier than I thought.

Daniel scoffed. “Interesting. Since when do you start caring about other people problems?”

Alexander slowly turned toward him.

And for the first time that night-

I saw something dangerous in his eyes.

“Since someone forgot their place,” he replied.

The warning was clear.

Daniel heard it too.

For a moment, neither man spoke.

The pressure between them was almost unbearable.

Then Daniel let out a dry laugh.

“Fine,” he muttered. “Enjoy your little marriage while it lasts.”

He looked at me one last time.

But this time-

There was regret in his eyes.

Real regret.

Too late.

Without another word, he walked away.

Vanessa remained still for a second longer before leaning closer to me.

“You may have won tonight,” she whispered quietly, “but trust me… this won’t last.”

Then she walked away.

Leaving me alone with Alexander.

The noise of the party slowly returned around us, but my heart was still racing.

Alexander glanced down at me briefly.

“You handled yourself well,” he said.

I blinked in surprise.

Was that…. a compliment?

“Thank you,” I replied carefully.

A small silence passed between us.

Then his phone rang.

His expression changed.

Not dramatically.

Just enough for me to notice.

Without a word, he answered the call.

“Yes?”

Silence

Then suddenly-

His eyes darkened.

“When did these happen?” he asked sharply.

Something about his tone made my stomach tighten.

Whatever he was hearing-

It wasn’t good.

Alexander ended the call and looked at me immediately.

“We’re leaving.”

“What happened?” I asked.

He didn’t answer right away.

Which made my anxiety worse.

Then finally-

“My grandfather wants to meet you.”

My breath caught.

The most powerful ma in the King family…

Wanted to see me?

And judging by Alexander’s expression-

That was not a good thing.

  • The Billionaire’s Replacement Bride   The Warning

The ride back home was painfully quiet. I sat beside Alexander, staring outside the window as the darkness blurred past. But my thoughts remained trapped inside that study. Be careful who you trust in this house. The warning echoed over and over in my head. The strange past wasn’t the threat. It was the certainty in his grandfather’s voice. He didn’t sound concerned. He sounded sure. Sure that someone around us couldn’t be trusted. And somehow, I knew he wasn’t talking about Venessa. Vanessa was obvious. People like Venessa didn’t hide their intentions. No. This felt different. More dangerous. Suddenly, the car stopped. Alexander stepped out. As usual, he offered his hand to help me. I hesitated for a second before accepting it. His fingers wrapped around mine briefly. Warm. Steady. For some reasons I couldn’t explain, that made my heart flutter. The moment we entered the mansion, the staff lowered their heads respectfully. Everything looked normal. Yet I cou

  • The Billionaire’s Replacement Bride   His Public Wife

“Get ready.” I looked up from where I sat, still trying to process what had happened in the last few hours. Alexander stood by the door, already dressed in a black suit. “Ready for what?” I asked. “A dinner,” he replied. “You’ll be attending with me.” My chest tightened slightly. “So soon?” His gaze flicked to me briefly. “You’re my wife now. People will expect to see you.” Right. Of course. This wasn’t just a marriage. It was a performance. “Someone will help you prepare,” he added before turning to leave. “Don’t be late.” The door closed behind him, leaving silence in its wake. Minutes later, two maids entered, carrying dresses and accessories. “Madam, please one of them,” she said gently. I stood, letting them guide me. If this was my new life- Then I had to learn how to survive it. An hour later, I barely recognized myself. The woman in the mirror looked… different. Elegant. Confident. Like she belonged in Alexander’s world. But

  • The Billionaire’s Replacement Bride   The Woman Who Shouldn’t Be There

“This is your life now.” Alexander’s words echoed in my mind as I stepped fully into the mansion. Everything was… overwhelming. The high ceilings. The polished floors. The quiet elegance that screamed money and power. I felt out of place. Like I didn’t belong here. “Madam, this way,” a maid said respectfully, gesturing for me to follow. Madam. The word still felt strange. I glanced at Alexander, he but he was already walking ahead, his attention elsewhere-as if I was no longer his concern. So that was it. In public, I was his wife. But here? I was just… part of the arrangement. I followed the maid up the grand staircase, my heels echoing softly with each step. “Your room has been prepared,” she said. Your room. Not our room. That didn’t go unnoticed. The door opened to a beautiful space-larger than anything I had ever seen before. But before I could take it all in- A sharp voice cut through the air. “So it’s true.” I froze. Slowly, I turned. A woman sto

  • The Billionaire’s Replacement Bride   Terms and Conditions

“Do you take this man as your husband?” The priest’s voice echoed in my ears, but everything felt distant… unreal. I turned slightly, my gaze meeting Alexander’s. His expression didn’t change. Calm. Certain. As if this was just another decision in his life. “I do,” I heard myself say. The words felt heavy the moment they lift my lips. “And do you, Alexander King, take this woman-“ “I do.” He didn’t hesitate, not even for a second. The Priest nodded quickly, clearly overwhelmed by everything that had just happened. “Then… I now pronounce you husband and wife.” A wave of murmur swept through the hall. Shock. Disbelief. Confusion. But no one dared to object. “Y-you may…” the priest stammered, “…kiss the bride.” My breath caught, Alexander didn’t move immediately. For a second, I thought he would ignore it. But then- He stepped closer. One hand gently lifted my chin. My heart pounded wildly. This was crazy. Everything about th
