Chapter seven

As I stepped off the subway into the bustling station, the noise and clamour of the city engulfed me. The smell of freshly brewed coffee mixed with the sound of hurried footsteps, a symphony created chaos. I glanced around, taking in the sights of the crowded subway platform.

My eyes scanned the crowd, searching for a familiar face. I needed to get the files that proved that I was the real owner of the James Group and not Alison, my step-sister. And that was what I had asked Chris, an old servant of my mother's, to bring me.

However, amongst the sea of strangers, I caught sight of a young man holding a bouquet of roses. His face was etched with nervous anticipation. He glanced at his watch, his eyes flicking from left to right as if searching for someone.

From where I stood, I braced myself for any sudden mishap. This kind of people should be beware of, for this is how kidnappers and robbers and the like act when they are about to commit their evil deeds.

However, soon
