“What did you just say?” Brianna’s eyes flipped open, and like an arrow unlatched from a bow, it flew in Jack’s direction very sharply.

“Hey!” He flinched when he saw her reaction. He was expecting her to react, yes, but not like this. Like one wrong word from his mouth will send him to the gates of hell, face to face to the prince of darkness himself.

“Make yourself clear. I am not joking.” She sternly warned Jack. He is her guardian’s son, almost four years older than B. He was nine when they first met. He is like a big brother to her, and she is a little sister to him. Only that B is more mature and reliable, not the other way around. He is the big brother, but she is more sensible. Yet, he tends to help her in every way he can, in anything she needs. Whether he can do it or not, that won’t be the issue. He will do it, especially when it comes to her life goals. Things that aside from his dad, only he knows. Maybe, just maybe, more than what his dad knows. Brianna is more comfortable telling him than anyone else. And he is proud of that. Now is like a moment for truth. A moment she had been waiting for. He cleared his throat, took a deep breath, and sat straight on his spot, facing the now indescribable expression on B’s face.

“I said,” he paused. Then he continued when he saw impatience starting to show on B’s fierce-looking eyes. “I saw an ad stating that the CEO of LM Realtors Group is looking for a Personal Assistant and Executive Secretary.” He stated clearly and slowly as if making her understand every word that he said.

“And….?” She asked with her left eyebrow lifted up. An expression she would do when the matter in discussion sounds irrelevant to her.

“And I submitted an application on your name?” He enthusiastically answered. His gleeful face cannot be ignored.

“What?! Why the hell would you do that?!” She jumped up from her yoga mat. She heard him say about becoming a Personal Assistant and Secretary. Why would she work as such?! She still has a lot of clients she can work for and earn a whole year’s salary for such a position in one single mission.

Now it was Jack’s turn to be shocked. He closed his eyes tightly and opened them again. “I can see her.” He said like he was talking to himself. Then he pinched his left arm with his right hand, and he flinched.” Ouch! I’m not dreaming either.” He tapped his face with both hands as if waking himself up from drowsiness. “Okay, okay. I’m awake!”

“Yeah, you better be! So you can explain to me why on earth do I have to do a collar job all of a sudden?!” She was now definitely furious. She felt weird about herself. Why is she getting so worked up? She thought Jack was the one getting worked up. It turned out he was making her really, really pissed.

“Well, Babe! You have been waiting for this moment, duh?! What is going on with you? Did your life goals change without my knowledge?” He felt so betrayed.

Hearing the word life goals made her ears flap and like bunnies do when they hear some noises that threaten them, she felt her ears stand in attention. She patted her chest and took a few counts of a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Then she sat down right in front of the looking hurt and pitiful Jack.

“Okay, I am so sorry. I don’t know what came to me just now. Can we start again? This time, make me understand clearly. My brain seems to be on break. I don’t think it’s working like the way it used to and the way it’s supposed to be.” Brianna patiently urged Jack.

“Okay. LM stands for Lucien Michaelson, and he is in need of a PA and ES, as in....” Jack started, but Brianna cut him off.

“Personal Assistant and Executive Secretary, right?” She seemed to have seen the light in the midst of darkness as her face beamed with excitement. But she quickly felt panicked. “But I haven’t had any experience in that area?” She had been on many missions. Bloody and dangerous tasks, but she had never tried being a corporate nanny. That is what the job looks like to her, and more is being a secretary. “Can’t I just get into the building and throw him out the window?” She asked desperately.

“Did you change your mind?” Jack asked her with a measuring look. “You always said you wouldn’t hurt the ones not directly involved. I believe Lucien is totally innocent with what happened to your parents or with what his grandpa has ordered to be done to your mom and dad.”

Brianna nodded. “Yeah, I said that. But I feel excited, panicked, and devious all at the same time.” She stood up, and for the first time in her life, she paced. She was nervous and worried that she might fail her once-in-a-lifetime shot, jubilant and excited, thinking that she could visit her parents’ grave, bringing good news for their peaceful rest.

“You can do it!” Jack boosted her confidence. Even if you have had experience in that field of work, every office and company has their own rules and regulations, that means, you will still undergo training and probation periods, and that means you can familiarize yourself with what to do and what not to do, according to your boss’ preferences.”

“Right! Okay.” She quickly walked out of the room. Jack, who was still sitting slumped on the floor, was cramping to stand and follow her.

“Where are you going now?” He shouted as she saw her already at the end of the hall. “Does she have flash’ ability to move that fast?” He asked himself, shaking his head in disbelief.

“To the study room.” She shouted back in reply. She needs to do a quick research on how a PA and ES should perform. She needs to equip herself with as much knowledge as she can gather to make sure her job interview would be irresistible and get hired. Her outstanding Intelligence Quotient would be easy to digest and adapt to the new identity that she will have to bring to life. Naturally, meticulously, effectively, and convincingly. She searched for professional tips and advice on videos and blogs, every multimedia that she could find, every tutorial and information, from behavior, clothes, posture, gestures, organizing, taking notes, scheduling, speed of walking on high-heeled shoes. She was like a robot downloading all necessary data into her brain, all eyes focused on the screen, oblivious of Jack, who was now quietly watching her every move. He was only watching her as he sat on the sofa in her study room, but he was feeling tired of her straight posture seated on her swivel chair facing her widescreen computer. His spot was facing her right so he could see her view from the side. He stood up, went to the kitchen, and got a glass of juice to give her. When he came back, she seemed to be waiting for him. He shot her a questioning look at her.

“When is the interview, again?” She asked with her eyebrows crossed.

“Tomorrow.” Jack shortly answered

“Damn!” She started cramping again. She looks like she just wanted to slurp everything she needed right into her brain. As if a law student who will take her bar exam the very next day. A sight so new to his eyes. He had never seen Brianna like this ever. She is always composed and confident. But hell, just looking at her being panicked, he feels even worse than that! As if her failure would be more painful for him than herself.

Five years later. “Babe, don’t tire yourself so much,” Lucien reminded Brianna lovingly. “How is our little Anna doing today?” he asked with his warm hands rubbing on Brianna’s six months pregnant belly. “I am not really sure. But I have no doubts she is too eager to see the outside world. She has been kicking my ribs inside as if trying to push her way out even before her due!” Brianna blew a breath as she answered. Lucien laughed happily at the cute face of his lovely wife who somehow looked complaining. “Babe, I noticed that your mood swings during this pregnancy and the first one, with Caleb, are so different. Could it be because their genders are also different? With Caleb, you were as tough as usual, but with our little girl, Abigail, you are so… Uhmmm, so…. How do I say this?” Lucien scratched his head as if searching for the exact but safe word to say not to provoke his pregnant wife. “Come on, tell me. I am so what, huh?” Brianna asked with a sweet smile. Her face looked

“And in respect to Anna’s parents, I wish to move their graves into a mausoleum only for the Peters; the parents and grandparents. And as soon as we’ve done so, we will hold a ceremony to honor them,” Leandro declared. “What do you say about these thoughts of mine, Anna? I really hope I do not offend you in any way, because with all my heart, I swear, I only have the purest desire to express my gratitude that they brought you into this world and now you become a part of our family, that also makes your family ours, just like our family is also yours.”Silence filled the whole room. The question was directed to Brianna, so their eyes all turned to look at her as they waited to hear what she would say in response to Leandro’s words that were said with heartfelt sincerity. Brianna was silent not because she was feeling so emotional. Brianna was inwardly checking her heart and thoughts as well as her intuitive response, in silence. Guarding her mind against any misunderstanding or miscal

Brianna and Lucien arrived earlier than Sandra and Levi. It was because Sandra wanted to buy something for Anna, Sandra’s soon-to-be daughter-in-law, and also something for her father-in-law, Leandro Michaelson. There was nothing to worry bout since the war had already subsided and there were more than enough men to assist the couple with security or anything they would ever need. Enzo welcomed the young couple, Brianna and Lucien, as soon as they arrived at the mansion. Leandro sent the helicopter to fetch Enzo right after Leandro and Andy were dropped off at his yard. Lucien did not say anything, but Enzo understood the curious look on his young Master’s face as to why it was not the same as usual. Leandro would always wait for Lucien and Brianna by the door whenever the patriarch knew of their arrival. “The Master has a guest. They are in the study room and he is asking for your presence as well,” Enzo answered as he led the couple to where Leandro, Andy, and their guest were at

While the rest of the world was in tumult, the men on the Michaelsons' private army along with Brianna’s team subdued the whole barracks and gather every useful piece of evidence to solidify the cases against Terrence Clayton. The Michaelsons team found out there were more grave reasons why the ex-Vice President wanted the whole place burned down. “Sir, there seemed to be a lot of hidden bundles of money on one of the installed container vaults covered in military cloth to make it appear and look like it was only one of the stocks containers,” Captain Lexus Bordeaux reported when they started to search the whole property for anything they could find useful. “There is no way one can create a legal document to explain such a large sum of money, so Clayton must have kept them there,” Andy scoffed. “And there wouldn’t have been any way his under-the-table deals would pay him other than by cash,” Leandro also scorned. “Do not touch anything, just take photos and secure the surroundings

Blake assigned Finn and Hoggins to cover him by looking at their surroundings as his watchmen while he focused his attention on the target he was after according to the order given for him to execute. Blake had to look up most of the time to locate the shooter so he was relieved two of his comrades who already knew the drills and what they were supposed to do in this situation were with him to rely on. “Boss, these men are wearing a different uniform from ours. I believe they are not on the same side with us. What do I do?” Blake reported in a whispering tone as soon as he got the assurance that his information was accurate. “Take them down. Alive if possible, injured or not. But don’t hesitate to shoot if they try to resist and fight back!” Brianna answered. “Yes, Boss!” Blake answered. He gave Ramil Finn and Andrew Hoggins a signal on what to do and they acted accordingly. Hoggins took the east and south directions to secure. Finn took the other two directions while Blake Gordon

“Don Leon, the barracks in the forest is about to be abolished. Whether there are people in it or none, the order was made, and Terrence Clayton’s minions are on the move as we speak. If you have your men in there, tell them to pull out. Especially if your grandson and his wife are there, I strongly suggest you inform them of this message immediately!” The caller was using a voice synthesizer, so it was unrecognizable if the caller was a man or a woman. “Let me know who you are, whether what you say is the truth or just a prank; I want to thank you for this length of effort to notify me; let me return the favor one day,” Leandro wisely replied. “I will come to find you in person one day, then you will know who you are, and I will personally ask for your help. But for now, we don’t have time. Tell your men to pull out!” That was all they heard before the line was cut. “Tatum Eliott, leave the area right away. I repeat, leave the area right now! A tip just came in; that place is

“What are all of these?” Lucien asked looking at a slideshow of files with word documents and images. “Isn’t that the address of the warehouse where we found the human organ harvesting? Are these papers the legal documents of property ownership?” “Yes! And someone sent me this file after I failed to hack into their firewall!” Jack answered with a victorious laugh. “Wait…! The ownership is under the name of… Will somebody zoom that part where the name is printed and signed?!” Leandro frowned as he also tried to read the content of the document on the wide screen in front of him and Andy Lockwood. “Terrence Clayton!?”Andy, Leandro, Lucien, and Jack almost read and uttered the name aloud in unison. Brianna scoffed. In her thoughts, “got ya!” was bouncing although her facial expressions remained as calm as always. “How did you get this? Are you sure they are legit?” Brianna asked calmly instead of showing her pure delight. She still wanted to make sure they weren’t rejoicing over a f

Then Charles Anderson turned to the IT team. “I want to see every corner, every area, every exit and entrance of this barracks!” he roared in panic. “Sir, what about the men in the field?” the team leader asked cautiously after nodding in response to the command given. “Forget them, they are no longer of any use now that the enemy has its hands on them,” Charles answered waving his right hand dismissively. “I want to see if the ones I am after would grace me with their mighty presence,” Charles murmured as he busily looked at every screen. “I am not so sure they would choose to join their team to attack me back for gatecrashing their wedding but knowing the bride too well, I won’t be surprised if I see her face coming for me at this moment.” Charles keenly observed every angle on every screen. He was tracing Brianna’s figure among the intruders. They were all in full gear, but knowing Brianna for more than a decade, Charles Anderson could tell even her shadow. And he was more tha

As soon as Blake Gordon activated the jammer, the sniper team Charles had sent to attack the resort hotel, where Brianna Peters and Lucien Michaelson’s wedding was supposed to be being held, got disconnected and unreachable for Charles and the few men with him that controlled their overall internet connections and communication. “What the fuck is going on?!” Charles asked the man he knew was the most active in every inquiry Charles would make. “Get them back online!” Charles Anderson was furious beyond words but he was not very much familiar with everyone around him at the moment, so he was aware he could not act like he would usually do when he was with Jack and the rest of the men under his command.“Sir, something must be wrong from their end of the network,” the man seated in front of the computer hesitantly uttered. “What is that supposed to mean?!” Charles snarled. The poor IT guy cringe, but he had no choice other than clarify his words.“I tried to reach out to them but the
