Chapter 8

On our way out of the atelier. Rory's cell phone, which Nicholas made me use, started to ring. It was as if he knew I was now done fitting his sister's wedding gown. I glance at Kairos, who is two steps ahead of me—biting my lower lip as I contemplate whether I'll answer Nicholas's call immediately. He didn't realize that he had left me behind.

Rory's phone soon stopped ringing, but a new message popped on the screen.

[Aren't you done with your fittings? Your appointment should have ended ten minutes ago. Please answer the phone, Isla.]

Right after I read his messages, that is filled with correctly spelled words and punctuation. Nicholas' number popped on the screen, and I had no choice but to slide up the answer button this time.

"Wait for me there. I am just a few blocks away from the Atelier," he said. I was about to open my mouth and say something when a massive hand and long fingers took Rory's phone out of my hand.

Kairos stole the phone from me, bringing it straight to his ear.

"Nicholas, your sister might end up spending the rest of the day with me. You have nothing against us being on a date, right?" After he said what he wanted to say to Nicholas. Kairos ended the phone call. I don't think he allowed Nicholas to say something in return. He straight up told my supposedly older brother that he would have me for the rest of the day.

"Date?" My eyebrow shot up as I opened my palm, asking him to give me my phone back, but instead of handing it back to me. Kairos kept it in the pocket of his suit.

"Why the sudden change of heart, Mr. Lancaster? Don't tell me that all of a sudden you can't get enough of me?" I playfully wriggle my eyebrows at him.

Both Dianna and Nicholas told me earlier that Kairos treats Rory as if she is his dog and that he expects to follow him around while she patiently waits for a single drop of his attention but is looking at him now. It's weird because all of a sudden. This billionaire wants me next to him all of the time, and I know for sure that his sudden change of heart has something to do with what happened back in the Atelier's VIP room.

"You were persistent about wanting to know me better. I am giving you this day to get to know me better," he said so casually as if I was now in enormous debt to him, for he was sparing me his precious hour.

"After what we did back in the VIP room. I think I know you better now. There is no need for us to sit at a table in a fancy restaurant. Because if we're being honest. We're not interested in all these little details about each other. I think I know what you want. I just want to hear it from you."

Kairos cut the distance between us with just one step, and he leaned closer to my ear, "Tell me fiacée. What is it that I want."

My hand crawled on his tie and tugged it to pull him closer, "Me," I said, sounding way confident, but I managed to figure him out.

The only way to catch his attention is if you challenge his dominance and later on submit to him.

Kairos loves it when his ego is being fed.

"Instead of a usual lunch out. Why don't you take me through your day? I feel like giving you a blow while you're working to add more zeros to your bank account." I teased him.

"To my office then," he said. Kairos positioned his hand around my waist. He was marking me as his property as we walked towards his sports car.

Rory Spencer, I am doing the devil's work. Suppose they happen to find you after I married this man on Sunday. I hope to get a chance to talk with you. I got a cheat code ready to make this man kneel before you and for this. I think I deserve another million.

"I want you to move in with me in my house." Kairos suddenly announced that caught me off-guard. He looked so severe while he was lost in his thoughts and I don't want to assume things... could it be that this is what he is thinking for a moment now while we are on our way to Lancaster Prime Estates?

"Woah, wait. Why do you want me to move in with you?"

"Why not."

"We'll be married on Sunday. After the wedding, then I'll move in with you like I should."

"What's stopping you from moving in with me now? Like you said. We'll be married on Sunday. There is nothing wrong with you moving in with me now."

There is something wrong with that. I can't just move in with him and go ahead and start living that married life because I am not supposed to. What happened in the VIP room shouldn't have happened in the first place.

"Cat got your tongue? Or you're feeling scared now?" Kairos mocked.

"I don't think Nicholas would let me move in with you just because you want me to start living with you." Kairos's eyebrows crossed with each other, and I couldn't help it but wonder if I said something that irritated him.

"Rory, you're twenty-five. Why would you need your brother's permission?" He asked. My lips remained shut. Kairos waited for me to say something, and when I didn't. He grabbed his phone from the pocket of his coat.

I saw him typing a text message on his phone, but because we were sitting a meter away from each other. I couldn't see what he was up to right now.

"I'll go to your house and talk to Uncle Niklaus about this plan of mine. At the end of this day. You're going home with me."
