“Hello.” She greeted quietly as soon as she stepped inside the apartment. It was her habit even when there was no one in sight, just like how there was no one then. She went to her mother’s room to check if she was sleeping and sure enough, she could be seen fast asleep. She was glad as she did not want to face her at that moment without her expression giving away the dismay she was at. She kissed her mother’s cheek and went to her room.
She got out of her skimpy outfit and stilettos. She could still feel the cab driver’s eyes earlier that were digging holes with the way he was ogling her. Those kinds of stares still made her uncomfortable. All credit went to Joe for not allowing her to change into her clothes.
She would have to go to the club and get her clothes the next day if she still had the job. It was very less likely. Joe would not let her go after she slapped him. She still had a tiny bit of hope. After all, that was all a person could do when everything and everyone in the world seemed against them—have hope despite the contradicting situation.
She tried to put aside the fear of the known and got busy with her shower. She was not a professional dancer, but she had learned a bit of dancing to be fit for the job. Her performances were exhausting which was why the warm shower was doing wonders for her aching muscles.
Besides, the physical effort to get away from Joe had also draining effects on her body.
She could not help but think of the stranger who had helped her. Why did he help her? How did he know what was going on in the room? She had a lot of questions to which she was sure she would never get the answers to.
She had met rude and arrogant people but no one liked them. He was a combination of rude and complicated. He was surely a handsome, tall, charismatic, and wealthy-looking guy. His eyes were of blue-ish grey color and his hair was ash brown. Although it was quite dark in the room where he helped her and outside the club, he could make out his features quite well. Besides, his eyes shone in the dark even more. He also looked to be a minimum of 6 feet. It would be a lie if she said she was not mesmerized by him for a moment outside the club when he ruined everything by saying ‘you should go home
He helped her, but he also did not forget to taunt her regarding her job. He was also glaring at her outfit—not ogling her like the driver did but glaring as in not like what she was wearing.
Strange! He had no right to judge her like that.
His good looks or wealth did not give him the right to go around and taunt other people. That was why she did not thank him. She felt bad, but she could not bring herself to tell him she was thankful for how he treated her.
She got out of the shower after changing into her pajamas. She lay down and closed her eyes when her stomach grumbled.
“Oh!” She remembered that she did not have dinner. She stood up grumpily and went to the kitchen to make herself some noodles. She was not in the mood for proper food.
She was scrolling through her phone and checking out her social media sites when she got a text from none other than the devil himself.
Her heart skipped a beat. She was afraid to open the text, but she had to. She tapped on the message with her beating heart.
“I will make you pay.”
So simple, yet so promising! She thought bitterly.
Thomas’s POV:
‘I can’t believe what just happened. That bastard!” He cursed while speeding up his car. He was furious to no end. He wanted more than just to break his nose. He knew Joe could not do anything against him even if he beat him up to a pulp. His grandfather had a powerful empire and tons of influential connections which Joe was aware of. What did not settle with him was the fact that he knew Joe was a piece of shit, but he did not know he would as far as to force himself upon someone.
He got shivers just thinking about what was about to happen if he did not intervene. He was a playboy, but he would never go against someone’s wishes and be a dickhead. Although he was never rejected by a girl before, he would not even think of something like that even if he was rejected.
He was surprised how he put up with him all those years of friendship. People called them buddies. He wanted to puke at the thought of it.
And that girl! She was indeed a beauty. He got the idea that she did not like the way he was directing her. The fact was that he did not know why he was being like that. When he saw her at Joe’s mercy, he felt a rush of anger. He did not want her to be alone on her own such late at night. Although she must have been used to taking care of herself, she had such an aura of innocence about her that he wanted to take care of her instead.
But she did not want his help. She did not even thank him!
“Why am I thinking about a stripper?” He shook his head trying to clear his thoughts. Somehow, it was making him uncomfortable that his precious thoughts were occupied by a mere stripper. She was an exotic beauty and there was no doubt about that, but there was still the fact that she was just a stripper and nothing more.
He grabbed his phone and quickly dialed a number.
“I want you now. Your place.” He said in a clipped tone without even greeting the other person.
“Hey. I am out at the club, Tom.” He sighed at the stupid nickname that she liked to call him despite his showing annoyance.
“I am coming to pick you up. Be ready.” He got the club’s address and ran his car in that direction. He was frustrated—sexually of course. He wanted someone.
He soon reached the club and called to tell her he was there. Just a few minutes later, she appeared out of the club looking ravishing. His member hardened.
She was this new girl he had met at the same club she was exiting at that moment. They met two weeks ago and they hit it off right away. He was not someone to date and be in long-term shit rather he preferred to spend time with different girls. He did not like to be with one person for more than a month.
She was sexy to no end. Her long legs made him feel like he was in heaven whenever they were wrapped around his waist. Her luscious mouth gave him ideas when he saw her biting her lips as she spotted him.
“Hi.” She greeted me seductively as she sat on the passenger’s seat. She crossed her legs making him take a peek at what she was wearing under her extremely short black dress. He could not control himself anymore.
He grabbed her head roughly and plastered his lips over hers trying to get rid of some of the frustration he felt, but it was not enough.
He left her lips and started his car speeding towards the direction of his house. He could not think straight as Tiffany kept caressing his upper thigh. She was indeed a tease.
They soon reached the house and the guard opened the gate for him. He parked his car on the porch and grabbed her hands to take her into his room.
His grandfather had left for a trip, so he was pretty sure he would not be there and he would have the space to do anything he liked. He had not spoken to him after the scene in the study when he urged him once again to take responsibility for the company.
As far as living with his grandfather was concerned, his grandpa did not like for him to live in some stupid apartment when he could live in a mansion. Sometimes, he felt suffocated but there was nothing he could do.
“Where is your room, baby?” He was snapped out of his thoughts when she held his arm and fluttered her eyelashes at him.
He closed the distance between them and kissed her lips biting on her lower lips. She let out a moan. He could not wait to take her to his room upstairs. He wanted to ravish her right there and then.
He was busy making her moan uncontrollably when he heard the sound of glass shattering.
“What the hell is happening in my house?” The voice reverberated against the walls of the vast and huge mansion. It was that powerful and angry.
He left her neck which he was sucking the hell out of and turned around to face a very angry old man who was throwing daggers at him with his eyes. He was embarrassed that his grandpa had seen him ravish a girl. He was shocked to find him there. He thought he would be out of the city.
He saw Tiffany from the corner of his eyes. She looked so scared glancing at the shattered glass on the floor and his aggressive grandpa.
“I had no idea you would be here.” He said scratching his head. He did not know what else to say.
“You thought I would not be home and you would be free to do whatever the hell you wanted. I have had enough. You have to decide now if you want to live in this house.” He barked going to his room for God knows what.
Thomas turned to Tiffany who was standing there looking confused and scared.
“You should go.” He told her with a sigh. She glanced at him and nodded leaving the house.
There go his plans!
James Walker came out of his room and threw a paper on his face. He was offended by his grandpa’s action, but he was in no position to argue.
“What is this?” He held the paper before it could fall on the floor after hitting his face.
“Read it.” He spat in the same manner.
Thomas sighed before reading the paper. His eyes widened the more he read. He could not believe his eyes.
“What the hell, grandpa?” He asked in shock.
“Mind your language. I will give you only time until tomorrow to decide. Whether you live here and enjoy every perk or leave my house without getting a penny. It is for you to decide. I cannot put up with your tantrums anymore.” He gave his final verdict and stormed off toward his room.
Thomas sat on the couch and grabbed his head in worry. He not only wanted him to take charge of the company but also find a bride and get married. He only had a month to do all that. Otherwise, he would be kicked out of the house without a penny and would not get anything from the property of his grandfather. He could not ignore the signature in bold letters meaning his grandpa meant business this time.
“How the hell would I be able to do both? I neither want to take charge nor get married. That too, within a month! Damn it!” He cursed out loud before hitting his head against the headrest.
He was basically fucked!

“Olivia, don’t bother coming to the club. You are fired.” She heard an angry voice from the other side of the phone before the call dropped. So what she feared happened. She was not surprised at all. But she was indeed worried. What would she do now?It was a cruel world. To think that he was the one who had harassed her, and he should have been the one to bear the consequences but no, she was the one on the receiving end. Might is right. She understood the concept really well that day.“What happened? Why do you look worried?” Her mother came to her room looking concerned. She did not realize that she had been standing in the same position.“Oh, it is nothing. I just got a call that today I can take the day off.” She said with a fake enthusiasm. Her mother still did not buy it.“Then why did you look worried?” She asked doubting her. Damn her mother was so smart!“I have not been given a day off this sudden, so I was worried what to do today.” She tried to laugh, “Come on! Don’t stan
“I am sorry. You are not fit for the job.” The manager politely slid her resume toward her. Disappointment washed over her. It was the second place she had tried that day. The small café shop had a sign that they needed a waitress. Since she had no experience, they rejected her. The first place she tried was a salesperson's job in a small outlet. They asked her about her experience and after knowing what she did for a living, they ushered her out quickly saying they did not need a salesperson. She had never felt so insecure as she did after failing to secure a job in those two days. She had been seeking a job since the previous day when she got a call that she was fired. She was not going to give up. She would find a job soon. She left the café and decided to call it a day. Her phone was dead and she was so tired because she had not been sleeping and eating properly. What she worried the most about was how to inform her mother that she had lost her job and how to bear the expenses.
“What?” She could not believe her ears. Her eyes were about to pop out, “Are you drunk?” That was the best conclusion she could come up with in her state of shock. She heard him chuckle making her frown. “No. I am not drunk. I know what I am talking about. I want to marry you.” He said with all seriousness he could muster. Her reaction was making him amused as much as it was making him nervous. He did not want to show her he was nervous about her answer. Damn! There have not been a lot of events in his life that made him anxious. He was a go-getter in everything, especially in matters concerning women. Also, he did not see the point of why she would reject his offer. But he was indeed anxious. “Are you out of your mind? Why would I marry—you?” She said it like it was the most unbelievable thing she had ever heard. It was exactly how she was feeling. “Look, I have an offer. You marry me for a year and I will take care of everything in your life including your mother. I know she is
“Oh my God Sana, I cannot thank you enough. You have no idea what you have done.” She was on the verge of crying. She had been so emotional considering everything that had happened in the past week. She was unable to find a job, and her mother needed to go to her monthly check-up. For that, she needed money. A piece of paper, without which, they would be kicked out of the apartment and her mother would not be able to continue her treatment. Sana had done her a huge favor. “Don’t be silly. And I’m sorry it took me so long. Dad was busy with his trip, so he could only help once he was back. Thankfully, he was able to secure a job. But, the job is not that high-paid like your previous one.” She could hear the hesitation in Sana’s voice. She chuckled. “Right now, what I need the most is a job even if that is low-paid. I will try to do a part-time job as well if the pay is not enough. Once again, thank you, Sana. I love you!” She blew a kiss making Sana laugh. “Enough with your "thank y
“Olivia, I am going to take a break for a while. Can you handle it?” The friendly bartender asked her and she nodded with a smile. She loved the new work environment. Everyone was so friendly while the people back in the club were always rude to her. She thought that the reason might have been that she was a stripper and was profusely judged because of that. They may have concluded that she was just a money-hungry gold digger. Despite her trying hard to mingle, they distanced themselves. She could not control people’s perceptions though. She gave up eventually after they gave her a cold shoulder. Here, her coworkers were very friendly. It was her fifth day at work, and she was already comfortable and adjusted. Three bartenders handled the people at night. It was not a big bar but an average sized. She was glad that it was not crowded like the club she previously worked at. She was busy serving drinks to the customers when she heard a few taps on the counter. The music was softly p
“I am going, mom.” She smiled kissing her mother’s cheek and went out of the apartment. She was in a really good mood. Not only she had secured a job, but she also convinced her manager to give her an advance salary. The monthly rent was due and she had been postponing the owner of the apartment for weeks. Now, she did not have to worry about that. Her mother’s chemo would also continue smoothly. Last time, it was delayed. She reached the bar smiling to herself. After so many days, she felt such pleasant feelings. “Hey, Rose.” She greeted her coworker cheerfully. “Hi Olivia, you seem so happy today,” Rose commented. She had hardly seen her smile except when she greeted the customers. It had been hardly a week since they met, but she liked the innocent girl so much. What she could guess was that she had been through a lot. “Yeah. Things are finally going well.” She said with a smile and took her uniform to change into the changing room. Before she could go inside, the manager appear
“What did you say?” He asked with clenched teeth. His expression turned harder. She saw how he did not care about getting wet under the rain anymore. The umbrella was long forgotten as he unconsciously lowered it and grabbed it tightly in his hand. Now, both of them were drenched to the core as the heavy rain kept pouring all over them, not caring about anything. She wished she was as carefree as nature at that moment. “I said what you heard.” She spat and turned around. She was not in the mood to argue with him in the middle of the street with people watching like some movie scene was unfolding before them. Before she could get away, he grabbed her wrist and turned her around. “Nobody” He whispered angrily, “Nobody has ever disrespected me like that. I thought losing your job would make you see sense, but no! You are going to regret this.” He glared deep into her eyes making her lose her breath for a second. There were so many emotions—not so-pleasant emotions—in his eyes. She wa
"Doctor, is my mom alright?” His mother had been admitted to the hospital. She started having pain again and started bleeding. She just had her chemo three days ago. Olivia could not understand what the hell happened. “Please come to my office.” Dr. Robert had a serious expression on his face. Olivia followed him with her heart beating harshly. She had been crying non-stop. “Please take a seat.” The doctor told her gently when she kept standing and looking at him worriedly. “I want you to listen to me carefully. What I am going to tell you might shock you.” He said in all seriousness making her take a few deep breaths. She was worried to the core. Why was he behaving that way with her? What was wrong with her mother? “Your mother has entered stage four of cancer.” He told her regretfully. She looked at him dumbfounded. What did he just say? “M-my m-mom has, w-what?” She could not think straight. She just stared at the doctor blankly. She felt like the world had fallen upon her an
