Chapter 6 – A Woman With No Dignity
Third Person POV
“Fine then, I will take you to my house.”
“Sir, put me down!” Kiara said but Phoenix did not listen until they reached the parking lot.
Phoenix unlocked his car and opened the door and deposited Kiara on the front passenger seat then he immediately slammed the door and locked it while he walked to the other side, unlocked it again and entered. He did not say a word as he started the car’s engine and drove.
“Sir, what are you doing?! I need to work!”
“Your address or to my house? You choose.” Phoenix said while looking at the road and they have not gone too far from the street of the night club yet, they were already welcomed by a heavy traffic on the main road.
“Aren’t you listening, Sir Phoenix? I need to go back! Open this damn door.” Kiara raised her voice but it was futile because Phoenix pretended that he cannot hear her.
Kiara sighed when she did not get a response from Phoenix after a couple of minutes.
“What were you doing there?” Phoenix asked when he saw that Kiara had calmed down already.
“Dancing, as you saw it.” Kiara retorted and Phoenix glared at her.
“What were you doing there?” he repeated firmly.
“None of your business, sir. And don’t you dare tell this to the school. Just mind your own business.” Kiara replied and leaned her head back and closed her eyes thinking of what she should do now. Her night has been wasted, she did not get any tip and she doubt she would get a salary for tonight since she was not able to complete her hours of duty.
“Leave and find another job.” Phoenix said and continued driving as the traffic started moving and getting better already.
“It is none of your business, sir.”
“I said leave that da-mn club, Kiara.”
“I said it’s none of your business, sir.”
“I will talk to the owner to fire you then.” Phoenix replied which made Kiara fume in anger and annoyance. She slammed the side of her fist on the door and gritted her teeth. She does not want to be disrespectful, she does not want to get mad, so she tried to control herself and did not argue with him anymore but just repeated to him that he should not meddle with her life.
“Do not go there anymore if it disgusts you… Don’t try to ruin my life.” She calmly said while suppressing her anger.
“I am trying to save you from that place. That job would ruin you.”
“And why do you care? Huh? Sir. Tomorrow will be your last day in school, by then you can go back to your real job and you do not have to act like a concern educator anymore.”
“I am warning you, Kiara. Leave that job.”
“Why?”
“It is not good for you.”
Kiara laughed at his remark, as if she had lost her mind. A sarcastic laugh, but it was actually a mock to her own self.
“I know. But I managed to live with it for years and who knows how many years more. So don’t worry about it, sir. I’m doing good. Just forget that you saw me there and don’t return anymore.”
“For years?”
“What, Sir? Did you really think I am that nerdy and innocent b-tch at school? No, I’m a f-ckng whore.” Kiara sarcastically chuckled and secretly wiped a tear that was forming at the end of her eyes as she looked outside the window.
A slut, whore, a cheap girl. Maybe that is what everyone would think of her when people finds out about her job. Selling her body to entertain men.
A woman with no dignity and self-respect. Is that what they think of people like her?
“Drop me off at the next bus stop.”
“In that state?”
“Then stop the car and let me walk back to the night club.”
“Your address.” Phoenix asked but Kiara refused to tell him. She does not want to and no one ever asked about it before anyway and the one that was recorded in her school was their previous address before they moved in their new apartment because they were kicked out on the last month since they were not able to pay the due on time.
“Drop me at the next bus stop.” Kiara repeated.
Phoenix did not say anything anymore because he can see how stubborn and determined she is not to tell him where she lives.
He stopped at the bus stop she told and Kiara opened the door but it was still locked. She glanced at Phoenix and he sighed.
He reached at the back seat and took his suit that was hanging from the roof of his car near its window. It was his spare coat and long sleeve polo. Every time he goes out of his house he always make sure to carry a spare suit with him in case of emergencies and mishaps.
Phoenix took his white long sleeve polo and tossed it to Kiara and unlocked the door.
“It-“
“Do you really dare go out there with the tiny piece of fabric, Kiara?” Phoenix cut her off, evidently upset.
Kiara hesitantly wore his long sleeve polo, engulfing her with his expensive perfume. She feels so cheap and undeserving of such expensive thing.
She buttoned the polo and was about to get out of the car when she remembers her shoes. It would be too hard to walk on them, so she had decided to take it off and carried them on her hands before she hopped out of the car. Gladly, the polo was big enough for her to cover her upper thigh.
Before she closed the door shut, she uttered,
“Thank you for the ride, sir. I hope what happened in the club remains at the club.” And she left.

Kiara’s POV
Fortunately, last night I was able to get home without any scratch. Well… aside from the minor cuts I got on the soles of my feet since I walked back home from the bus stop. I made sure first that Sir Phoenix drove off before I walked to the street where our apartment is, and thankfully, mom and Caleb my little brother were already asleep then by the time I arrived because I would not be able to explain to them what happened to me due to my attire and look. Obviously, I managed to get inside since we always have a spare key hidden on one of the pot of plants in front of the door of our apartment. And due to such incident, I left my bag in the club and my copy of key was in there.
Today will be the last day of the lecture from the guests. So far, the school hasn’t called for my attention yet. We are now waiting for our last lecture and that is to be discussed by Sir Phoenix.
And as I was tapping the pen on my table, with my earphones on, in just a few minutes after one song in my RnB playlist, Sir Phoenix entered the room, and as I looked up, our eyes immediately met and we held it for a second…
Chapter 46 - He Is Not Like Father!Morning came and Kiara had an earful lecture from her mother while they have their coffee to cure her aching head though she did not drink too much last night yet her head was aching and she was thankful that Phoenix gave her an off today and actually she does not remember James telling it to her, glad he told her mom. Kiara might be pulling a bit string on Phoenix for this day off from her and it is still her second day at work, she is kind of glad that she is not entering work today and might bump into Stacey again.“I understand everything now, mom.” Kiara said, hearing her mother repeatedly reminds her of getting hurt because of those wealthy people.“You do not usually drink, Kiara, and you only do it when there is something heavy both
Chapter 45 – We’re All Messed Up“Friends with benefits, they do.” James replied and Kiara’s face dropped.“I don’t give him benefits like that.” She replied, knowing exactly what James was talking about.“Did you ask him?” he asked.Kiara frowned in puzzlement. “Ask? Ask him what?”“What you two really are.”And that was when it dawned to her. There was never a clear verbal affirmation from Phoenix. He never told her that he loves her.“Do… do you think should I ask him that?” she wondered, and her head was not taking the alcohol lightly anymore, however, she can still think properly to process everything that James was telling her.“I do not know… I mean, so that you would know what to do. You cannot love him still and be a martyr if he does not feel the same way right?”“And
Chapter 44 – Friends Don’t KissThe day ended with Kiara ignoring Phoenix’s calls and messages, asking where she is. She walked on the streets of Garse, getting lost in her thoughts and in the crowd of people passing by, letting her feet take her wherever it goes, and wondering how her life turned to be this complicated just because of love. If only… If only she had not fallen for him in the first place, then everything should have been better and less complicated. It would have been just her, an architect, working in a company, having daily work routines, and not getting too much to think about her boss whom eventually she fell in love with. Tough luck!Everything should have stayed in their places. No crossing of boundaries. No going beyond the limits. But then, it already happened, and it is not like they can still turn back the time and fix it all up in the beginning just to avoid the complications off today.
Chapter 43 – A Game He Can PlayThird Person POVWhile Kiara and Phoenix were tidying the table and putting aside the plates they used for lunch, they both looked at the door when it bursts open, and there stood the surprised yet pissed off Stacey Morgan.“Who are you?!” she asked, closing the door behind her.Phoenix glanced at Kiara and she avoided his gaze, finishing in cleaning the table. He stood up then and faced Stacey.“This... is Kiar—“ Phoenix was cut off when Stacey recognized her familiarity.“Wait, I know you. I’ve seen you before. You’re a friend of one of Phoenix’s maid, isn’t it? What are you doing here? And Phoenix did you just eat lunch with her?”“Shut it Stacey. This is Architect Kiara Stones.” Phoenix retorted with a reprimanding tone. The he added with a clear annoyance in his voic
Chapter 42 – A Foreseen DestructionThird Person POVWhen Kiara had already signed both the contract for the project and as an employed Architect of the Ramirez Hotels, she then resigned in the Desire Night Club. It was such a relief to her that finally she was now free, free from that place and job, though yes, it had helped her in her finances and bills, she is thankful for it, however, she had never loved the job she had, but he had no choice. She wore her corporate attire and stilettos since she won’t be going in the field to check the location and she will be staying in the company for now to have more discussion and modification if there are needed. And besides, the location is in Singapore so for now she won’t be going there, only when the building starts. She bade goodbye to her mother before she walked out of their apartment and walked to the roadside, waving to a taxi. It probably won&
Chapter 41 – His Family’s Capability To DestroyThird Person POV“What are yo—“ Phoenix was cut off as James spoke.“I know you. And I know how you can mess things up.” James shrugged, and he turned around and entered the establishment as the other engineers waved at him to their table.“What does he mean?” Kiara curiously asked.“Nothing. Don’t mind him.” Phoenix replied yet he knows that there is some truth in his cousin’s statement. If he is not careful, what he and Kiara has could crumble into ashes. They followed James inside and the Engr. Paula and Gregory stood up to greet Phoenix.“It’s nice you could join us tonight, sir.” Paula said and she and Gregory noticed his hand on Kiara’s back, yet they did not judge her or anything, they just smiled at Kiara. They do not see her as s
