The moment Christabel was shot, Ethan's bodyguards took down the shooter.

Ethan's heart raced…. That was a close call. He saw that Amelia appeared to be shocked so he pulled her into his arms to calm her down..

"It's okay… they are dead. They won't hurt you.. don't be scared. I'm here." He whispered as he tightened his arms around her..

His heart ached when he noticed how she was trembling and gripping his shirt tightly. He felt guilty for bringing her with him.

The scent of blood hung in the air, making Ethan wrinkle his nose. Kissing the top of Amelia's head, he suggested, "let's get out of here."

Amelia nodded and followed him towards the car. He could see she was still trembling which further ignited his guilt.

Ethan had wanted to apologize for being angry earlier but he kept quiet. That was not the time.
