Chapter 6

"You've got to be kidding me," Madison yelled as Emily drove. They were in Emily's car going back to the company.

"I told you Nathan wasn't seeing anyone in secret. You just wasted our time," Emily replied.

"Oh please, you know that's not what I am talking about. You're married to Caden Kingston, or did I not hear that correctly?" Madison was stunned. "He referred to you as his wife!!!" She screamed in shock.

"Maybe you didn't hear it correctly," Emily replied stiffly. She really hoped Madison would simply drop the topic and not talk about it.

"What the fuçk do you mean? There wasn't any news about Caden Kingston getting married and surely not to Emily Stone, so how did it happen? Something so big can't be covered up except you both were really discreet, I mean he was caught in a hotel with some whore just like a week ago but now he is married to you!!! Make it make sense Ems!! make it make sense!!" Madison rambled and by the time she stopped talking she was breathing heavily.

"Okay... I know you have a lot to say but you can't tell anyone Madison, " Emily tried I reason.

"Why not? The public deserves to know, isn't that why we are journalists?" Madison frowned.

"This is too private, with time everything would be known by everyone but I beg you to just shut up for a few days or weeks till we announce the wedding," Emily persuaded.

"Are both of you in Love?" Madison asked, disbelief written all over her face.

"What? No, no, no" Emily frowned. "It's just business, okay... Just business," Emily replied.

"Yeah I thought so, you're definitely not Caden's type," Madison said earning herself a glare from Emily.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Emily asked.

"Caden has only ever been seen with models and potential actresses not nerdy journalists," Madison clarified. "And you're-"

"If you don't stop talking, I will push you out of my car," Emily threatened.

"I'm keeping your secret, you should be doing everything to please me not threaten me Ems," Madison rolled her eyes.

"Just don't tell anyone anything, please..." Emily pleaded. "And stop calling me Ems," she complained.

"I won't tell anyone because well... You've been good to me since Felicia disappeared on me and Ems is a nice nickname, I like it," Madison shrugged and Emily sighed.

She didn't want to argue with Madison, she has offered to keep her marriage with Caden a secret, and that's enough for Emily.

{CADEN'S HOUSE~6PM}

Emily parked her car and came down from it. She was literally tired. It was basically hell with Madison at work after they bumped into Caden at the museum.

She has to constantly remind Madison not to spill the beans because she couldn't trust Madison for shît, the girl might as well be national news herself.

Emily walked into the house and was surprised to see Caden on the couch. He wore casual clothes, and his laptop was on his lap.

He was definitely working because he didn't notice Emily when she entered the house.

Emily was freaking mad at him. He couldn't just take a hint and not run his mouth about them being married to Madison, which is currently causing her her sanity.

So she ignored him and walked upstairs to her room. After taking a warm shower and changing into comfortable clothes, she walked back downstairs.

She wondered why Caden was home so early, though he normally doesn't come back till 8pm or 9pm, sometimes 10pm if he felt like it.

"When did you get back?" Caden said when he noticed her presence and Emily paused, his gaze was still on his laptop, and she rolled her eyes before walking to the kitchen.

Emily made pasta, and she only made it for herself because she didn't see a need to cook anything for Caden.

Emily finished cooking and dish out a plate for herself, but as she turned to leave the kitchen, she bumped into Caden, and the spaghetti spilled on the floor.

"What is wrong with you?!" She yelled angrily at him.

"It's not my fault. You spilled it yourself. You even got some on my favorite shirt," Caden frowned.

"I don't care. You've been making quite the effort to be such an àss today, you know that, right?" Emily retorted and proceeded to clean the dirty floor.

"Ohh, so you're mad at me, I thought so, since you blatantly ignored me since you came back." Caden nodded in understanding.

"Go away," Emily said.

"What did I do? I only want to know so I would do it again, " Caden said, and Emily glared at him.

She was going to just ignore him and finish what she was doing and go to her room, but she didn't even know when she started complaining.

"We agreed that we won't tell anyone about this unfortunate marriage till further notice and you just had to blurt it out to my colleague who happens to be a journalist like myself and not just any colleague, Madison for fuçk sake!" Emily complained.

"Ohhh... I see. " Caden crossed his arms on his chest. "Surprising how you think I care about that," he added with a light chuckle, and Emily tried her best not to punch him in the face.

"I knew you were an àsshole" Emily scoffed. She was already done cleaning the floor.

"I should be the one ashamed of having people know you're my wife, not the other way Emily, you don't get to hide our marriage like you're ashamed of me," Caden frowned "Or is it because of something else? Hmmm, do you have a boyfriend, Emily?" Caden asked, his gaze pinning Emily, who was speechless.

Why was he getting angry that she decided to hide their marriage? Isn't that what he wanted?

"I don't have a boyfriend," Emily responded.

"Then it's fucking settled, everyone in New York would know Emily Stone is now Emily Kingston" Caden declared and Emily's eyes widened.

"Abso-fucking-lutely not!" Emily retorted. "We won't be doing that! I won't get to go to work peacefully without the paparazzi at my back" she added with a frown.

"You're a journalist Emily, have you forgotten that? Even you guys are afraid of paparazzi? Interesting" Caden chuckled and walked out of the kitchen.

"Damn you Caden," Emily gritted her teeths.

{KINGSTON'S MANSION}

Beatrice looked at her bruised arm and back through the mirror in her bedroom, a sad expression clawed her face. A loud sigh escaped her lips.

Anthony isn't back yet and she knows he won't be coming back home tonight either.

She was glad he was going to stay the hell away from her but the risk of him getting caught with whosoever he was fuçking drowned her.

She doesn't want his name to fall to the gutter yet, not now, she just has to wait and endure this for a little while and she would finally be free from Anthony's clutches.

Beatrice's phone rang on the bed, Caden was calling and she sighed.

Too bad he had to have a father like Anthony Kingston.

She watched the phone ring and stopped, it would be best if he thought she had fallen asleep.

She picked up the phone and called someone else. "Who is he with now?" She asked over the phone. "I see, interesting" she muttered before hanging up.
