LOGINEmily felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest because of how fast it was beating. She honestly thought she was going to fall to the ground but was saved by Caden.
Caden stared at Emily, his grip around her tightening as an uneasy feeling sprang through his body. He gulped down nothing before letting go of her hurriedly, and Emily regained her stance. "Sorry," she quickly said, rubbing her sweaty palm on her slacks. "Why are you in front of my door?" Caden asked, his voice cold. "I... I just noticed you didn't eat anything when you came back and.." Emily trailed off. "And what?" He asked impatiently. "I just wanted to apologize for what I said. If it offended you in any way, you sounded angry," Emily replied. "I don't normally eat when I get back, and the apology is not accepted," Caden replied flatly, and Emily frowned. What the hell? "I'm being nice by apologizing. You can't blame me for thinking like that with your kind of reputation," Emily complained. "I thought you were here to apologize," Caden said, and Emily sighed. "I did, but you decided to be an àsshole as usual, so, good night, even though I am pretty sure you don't sleep at night," Emily replied. "You have no idea how true that is" Caden said under his breaths before shutting the door, even though Caden's voice wasn't audible, she heard exactly what he said but she shrugged and went to her room. _ {GEORGE'S HOUSE, 8AM} "I'm here!" Anna yelled as she walked into the living room with a huge smile on her face. George came down the stairs already dressed for work. "You were supposed to be here yesterday evening," George replied. "Oh c'mon, don't be a sour candy, I was busy," Anna said. "You're always busy, I'm late for work. Make yourself comfortable," George replied. "Why are you working for Caden? Just take over your dad's company like he wants you to instead of working for your friend, " Anna blurted. "We are not having this conversation Anna, you know exactly why I don't want to work in my father's company," George retorted. "Fine, don't work for your father, but you mustn't work for Caden either," Anna frowned. "You're already a successful model. You don't have to worry about me, focus on your career, and don't bring my father up again," George warned. "I was just being considerate," Anna pouted when she noticed George was getting angry with her. "I'm sorry, you know how my relationship with my father is," George apologized. "I won't bring it again," Anna promised, and George smiled. He kissed her, and she returned the kiss hungrily, but he pulled away, and Anna sighed in disappointment. "I have to get to work. I can't be late, especially when Caden is always late," George sighed, and Anna nodded with a smile. "Bye," he said and left the house. "Bye," Anna waved as he left, and her phone pinged. She brought it out of her bag to see a message from "Hubby." Hubby: This evening at the usual location by 9pm Anna: Of course, I can't wait to see you. Anna smiled as she sent the reply. She dropped her phone back in her bag before walking into the kitchen. _ {KINGSTON'S MANSION} Anthony read Anna's message with a smile on his face, the tug on his lips quickly faded when he saw the incoming message, he was supposed to fund the oil refinery Caden had suggested in the last meeting. He didn't want the business to go through because he regretted why he never thought of the idea first, but the board members seemed to agree with Caden. He didn't become the sole owner of the Kingston company by letting his son make good suggestions before him. The anger inside him burned all the way outside, and he went to his wardrobe to take a stick. He made his way out of his room and went downstairs. "Beatrice!" He yelled at the top of his voice as he walked down the stairs. Beatrice, who was in the kitchen, flinched at her husband's voice. She didn't know what she had done this time, so she made sure to stay as far as she could away from him so as not to annoy him. Anthony got downstairs, and when he saw Beatrice, he marched towards her. "You had only one job and that is to raise Caden right but you couldn't" he yelled and Beatrice blinked, her heart raced and her palms instantly became sweaty, drops of sweat fell from her forehead and her lips trembled when she saw the stick in his hand. He is going to beat her again. "What happened?" Beatrice asked with a shaky voice, unable to come up with the reason why he would want to beat her today. "You're seriously asking me what happened? That son of yours happened!" He yelled angrily at her and used the stick to hit her leg hard, making Beatrice stumble and fall to the ground. "I'm sorry," she said. She didn't even know what she was apologizing for, but she just wanted this to end as her eyes pooled with tears. "You'll be very sorry by the time I am finished with you," he answered. _ {HALTER'S MEDIA} Emily sat on a chair and got prepared for the day, Madison appeared on Emily's desk, and Emily sighed. "What is it, Madison?" She asked, clearly irritated. "Nathan Pierce has been caught frequenting a certain art museum," Madison Informed. "And.....?" Emily asked, hoping Madison would get to the fuçking point. "And this is something to write about him. What if he is going there for a lady, huh?" Madison smirked. "Or to look at art since it's an art museum," Emily interjected. "We still have to check it out. Little things like this are why we haven't gotten anything on Nathan," Madison replied. "Alright, let's go to an art museum," Emily said with a sigh. "I would get my coat," Madison squealed. _ {ART MUSEUM} "We would wait for him here. He normally comes by 1pm," Madison said as they stood beside a huge painting. "Can I help you ma'am?" A polite lady said to them, she noticed they were just standing without looking at the art and she wondered if something was wrong. "No.. thank you, " Emily replied politely, and the woman nodded before leaving. "Let's walk around and look at some art before they think we are thieves," Emily said to Madison. "Why would the daughter of the stone family steal?" Madison said. "Why is the daughter of the stone family in an art museum?" Emily retorted, and Madison rolled her eyes. "To get dirt or anything interesting on Nathan, obviously," Madison replied, and they heard distant voices. After a while, Nathan and Caden came into view, and Emily's eyes widened. Shît. She quickly turned away from them, pretending to look at a huge painting, and Madison did the same. "I never knew Nathan was on speaking terms with Caden," Madison said, also surprised. "Rich people know other rich people, I'm not shocked," Emily replied. "Does that mean you know them?" Madison asked. "Just shut up, now we know Nathan isn't coming to see some woman. Can we leave now?" Emily asked. "Of course not, we need to know why they are talking. The camera has never caught these two talking, not even by mistake, so I want to know what this is about!" Madison said, and Emily felt like dying. She didn't know if Caden would pretend not to know her because if Madison finds out she is married to Caden, then it's good as the entire New York City knows too. "They are moving away, let's go after them," Madison said as Caden and Nathan walked further into the museum. "I would wait here for you," Emily said, and Madison frowned. "I won't do all the work for you Emily, you're coming with me," Madison dragged Emily along, and they trailed behind the men slowly. The men stopped to look at a painting as they converse, and so did Emily and Madison. "This is crazy," Emily said as she pretended to understand what the hell she was looking at. "Well... We need the story, " Madison replied, doing the same. "Is something wrong, ladies?" They heard Nathan's voice, and they both froze. Madison turned towards them with a smile. "Nothing at all," she replied and tugged at Emily, who reluctantly turned. She was hoping Caden didn't say anything or else she's doomed. Caden was very surprised to see Emily. He wondered if she was stalking him, and the thought made him smirk. "You both have been following us for a while," Caden said this time. "Really? We didn't notice, " Madison chuckled awkwardly, and Emily sighed. "Emily, care to explain?" Caden asked Emily, who bit her lower lips were hard. Fuçk you Caden Kingston. Nathan and Madison seem to be taken aback by the way Caden referred to Emily. "You know her?" Nathan asked. "Yeah... She's my wife, " Caden replied, and Emily felt like the ground should open up and swallow her while Madison looked like she had just gotten hit by a truck. "What?!!" Madison couldn't stop herself from screaming, and when she remembered she was in a museum, she quickly palmed her lips. "Madison is a fan of art and she wanted me to come with her so we are here, sorry if it looked like we were following you both, I had no idea you'd be here" Emily quickly said while Madison was still trying to recover from her shock. "I actually thought they were journalists," Nathan said. "Emily is a journalist, and I am guessing her friend is too," Caden replied. 'Damn you, Caden!!' Emily screamed in her head. "Sorry for the inconvenience, we would leave immediately," Emily smiled and dragged Madison away. "I didn't know you got married," Nathan said to Caden. "Didn't know I would get married either," Caden shrugged. "She is very beautiful," Nathan complimented. "Keep your compliments to yourself, Pierce," Caden frowned. "Jealous husband?" Nathan smirked. "Far from that," Caden rolled his eyes. "Let's get back to the main topic," Caden added, and Nathan nodded.Emily felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest because of how fast it was beating. She honestly thought she was going to fall to the ground but was saved by Caden. Caden stared at Emily, his grip around her tightening as an uneasy feeling sprang through his body. Emily turned and tossed on the bed uncomfortably. No doubt, this bed is huge and soft, way better than the one she normally sleeps in, but she couldn't sleep. This is her wedding night for heaven's sake, and she couldn't sleep a wink, definitely because she is in a foreign place.Emily stood up from the bed and walked out of her room. She decided to get a glass of water. Maybe it would help her sleep. As she made her way downstairs, she looked around for anyone. She didn't want to get scared when she saw someone but she saw no one and made her way to the kitchen.Emily took the glass of water and gulped the content, her eyes roamed through the neatly arranged and organized kitchen. She is sure as hell Caden doesn't have a hand in this amazing design. He doesn't look like the type.Emily dropped the glass neatly and turned to leave, but she bumped into someone, and she screamed. Caden, who was taken by surprise, quickly covers her mouth to stop the noise."Are you out of your mind?" He
Emily picked up the phone. She didn't remember having Caden's number. He definitely saved his number on her phone. This would mean he was at the club yesterday, and he even picked up her phone."Was he the one I bumped into?" She asked no one in particular.Emily: Where were you at the club yesterday?Caden: How did I pick up your phone if I wasn't?Emily: Just asking.Caden: stupid question.Emily frowned at his reply. Caden Kingston is such an àsshole.Emily: Are you stalking me or something?Caden: As much as you wish for that to be true, I have better things to do. It was just a mere coincidence.Emily: Then thank you for returning it.Caden: Nah.. a simple thank you won't do.Emily: What the hell? What did you want?Caden: I would tell you when the time comes, you should wear dresses like that often, it makes you look less boring.Emily rolled her eyes at his message. She didn't even bother replying. She simply dropped her phone on the bed and went to the bathroom to have her bat
Emily was surprised, he was actually threatening her, he was the one who came late, clearly he doesn't want to come for the "date" so why wouldn't he let her leave. Emily turned back to Caden, she would have just ignored him and walked away if not for her father, the Stone enterprises needed this alliance more than the Kingstons, they are just doing them a favor and Emily couldn't afford to blow it or else her father would put her head on a stick. "What do you want?" Emily asked. "Sit down, we need to set some ground rules if we are going to get married, that's the only reason I actually came for this dinner" Caden replied and Emily sighed before sitting back down. "I'm listening," she spoke after she got comfortable. "You have to stay away from me. We are only married in name only, and that's it," Caden informed. "Fine with me, I don't see any problem with that," Emily replied with a small smile, and Caden wondered why she was happy with the idea. Most women are dying for a ch
{NEW YORK CITY~STONE MANSION~3PM} The door to Emily's room opened, and her head snapped up to meet her mom. "Your father calls for you. He is in his study," Layla informed her daughter. "Why is Dad at home this early?" Emily asked, confused. Her father never comes back this early. That's if he ever comes back at all. "I have no idea, just go see him." Layla waved her off before leaving, and Emily stood up from her bed. She went to the study and knocked softly on the door before pushing it open. "You called for me?" She asked her father as she walked into the study. "Yes, have a seat," Harper said sternly in his usual tone. "I prefer to stand," Emily replied. This was an indication that she wanted him to be fast with whatever he asked her here for. "The stocks are falling." Harper started, and Emily frowned. Since when did her father care to tell her about the falling stocks, she isn't helping him manage the stone enterprises in any way. "I don't understand," Emily said truthfu
