Olivia’s POV

The last thing I’d expected to see was Christian standing there so…distraught.

I’d hoped to see him standing there with a smile on his face, because even this symphony was pure melody to my ears. So maybe he felt the same?

But no, he stood there, looking like he struggled with pain and admiration.

I was so close to him now, but he just stared down at me with the same pain in his eyes, saying nothing to the question I’d asked.

“Christian,” I called again, reaching up to tug at his fingers. “What’s the matter?”

He finally heaved a sigh, wrapping his large hand around mine. “It’s nothing, Olivia,” he mumbled, a small smile playing on his lips. “I’m fine.”

“That’s clearly not true.” I sounded adamant because that was how I felt about this situation. He wasn’t telling me something…

He’d hurried out earlier, only to return now with a sullen expression. Did he think I hadn’t seen him leave?

    Olivia’s POV“Are you really not going to let me see her?”He lifted his eyes, held my gaze for an inquisitive moment.“Grace, I mean. I worry for her, Christian. It’s sad and heartbreaking that I haven’t laid eyes on her since she got hurt, and because of me!”We were seated at the dining table, quietly munching a late breakfast. Christian had seemed deeply lost in his thoughts, barely saying a word to me.My sudden appeal didn’t seem to sit quite well with him.He heaved a small, frustrated sigh, then he dropped his fork and scratched his brow. “We’ve been over this as much as I can recall, Olivia.”“Please.”“I want you safe, don’t you understand that?”“Well am I going to be cooped up in here forever?” I argued in a slightly peeved tone. “Just let me see her, please. I need to see for myself that’s she’s doing fine.”After a bit more back and forth with him, he finally gave in.“But I’m letting you go see her only on one condition.”I paused mid celebration, narrowing my eyes on h

    Ophelia came by the house later this evening, smelling like peaches and fresh cider.“Olivia!” She shrieked the moment she saw me, half-flying across the sitting room to throw her arms around my frame in the wheelchair.“My God! I’ve missed you.”“Very much same here, Ophelia,” I mumbled into her bosom, inhaling the heady mix. “How are you?”“I’m great,” she responded with a swift swirl. “Don’t I look it?”“Of course you do, always.”“You look ravishing, anyway.” She played with my hair, her eyes crinkling at the corners. Anyone could see she really adored me. “I just can’t wait until you can join me in my countless shopping sprees again.”“Soon,” I gave her the most reassuring of smiles.“Come,” I pulled at her hand when the silence started to stretch uncomfortably long, moving towards the dining area, “I was just about to have dinner. Join me.”As she followed behind me, her eyes darted around carefully, almost like she sought out something. Or someone.Steaming plates of meatballs

  • The Billionaire's Virgin Surrogate    Chapter {133}

    Christian’s POV I stared at my grandfather for what seemed to be an eternity, tongue-tied and seething. What could I possibly say to refute such tough evidence? His eyes held so much resentment and disappointment, burning into mine. “I asked a question, Christian,” he spoke after a while of silence. “Don’t make me repeat myself.” I heaved a frustrated sigh, running a hand through my hair. “Michael was right,” I replied, “but…” I slid my gaze over to Cain, who stood next to him. “But what, Christian?” I shifted my gaze back to my grandfather’s face. “Things have changed. Olivia and I are really together now.” Grandfather scoffed. “You really expect me to believe that? After lying to me all this time?” “It’s—“ “That girl, Christian,” he cut in bluntly, not giving me any chance to speak, “she had the guts to look me in the eyes and lie to me. Repeatedly. She even went to the lengths of making me feel like a bad father figure with her antics and pity speeches.” My jaw ticked h
