The life I wanted

Truly, one can go an extra mile just to get the printed papers since it's capable of making anyone do the unthinkable.

The ride was long and Megan won't stop thinking about how her stay with the Zahans will be. Would she enjoy those long stays at their house and would it be enough to make a good and long-lasting memory?

Or she will desperately wish she never left with the Zahans?

This thought keep replaying in her mind but after a while, she decided to push the thoughts aside. For now, she needs to focus on the long ride that seems not to be ending any time soon.

After what seemed like forever, the expensive drive was ushered into a mansion. They all hop down from it after it was parked properly.

She was surprised, ‘But this was not the same house...’ The Zahans must sure be heavily loaded for them to bring her to another building.

‘Holy Shepherd!’

Megan stared at the huge building, she was totally mesmerized at how huge the house is. She tried her possible best in hiding her facial expression, she does not want to appear cheap and poor before her new bosses.

If they should possess most things like this, then surely, the Zahans must really be one of the most prestigious families in New York. If not ranking amongst the first five but why hasn't she heard a thing about them?

She must really be outdated for her to know next to nothing about people and affairs in New York since almost her existence in New York.

"Just like we've talked about it previously, from now on, this will be your new residence." Dwayne was the first to break the awkward silence between them.

"Till your due date, you will be staying here with us. We don't want you far from us. We have to keep you under close watch for you and the baby’s safety." Hilary added with a small side smile. "If anything should happen to you the babies are not safe too."

All Megan could reply with was a quick and short nod, she has nothing to say since she read them in the documents she signed with them.

"Fine, I'll ask the maid to take you to your room. If you need anything, we are just a call away." Hilary's smile wasn't wide but it doesn't look like it'll be vanishing off her face soon.

"Here, these are the keys to your room." Dwayne handed a bunch of keys to Megan who collected it immediately in a quick snatch like she is in a hurry. "Just so you don't want to use the stairs, the elevator is always available for you to use."

Megan was kind of surprised, what do the house occupants need an elevator for?

‘Okay, what was I expecting in the first place?’ Megan thought within herself with a faint chuckle. ‘That a house as huge as this won't be using an elevator? Oh, common on Megan.’

For real, living a low life really helps her with the ignorance of how the society is developing lately. Wow, just wow!

"Hey, earth to Megan..." Hilary Zahan snapped her fingers across Megan's face to get her attention. "Are you listening to us at all? You look carried away and exhausted too."

It's clearly on Megan's face that she must have zoned out in the last few minutes, lost in her own space of imagination and condemning her ignorance.

"I'm so sorry, ma'am. I was just..." Megan was still saying.

"Huh, don't worry much. I guess you are just stressed and need plenty of rest, we'll excuse you now." Hilary interrupted her softly, patting Megan's shoulders gently. "If there is anything your attention is needed on, We will notify you of it and you are expected to do the same. Okay?"

"Sure, ma'am. I'll be sure to keep you updated on anything you ought to know." Megan replied almost in a faint tone, and she was kind enough to reciprocate the smile Hilary has been flashing her.

"I guess we are cool then, Megan. We will be back soon, we have pretty much things to attend to before the day runs out." Hilary uttered between smiles. "Feel at home till we will be back, okay?"

"Okay..." Megan gave Hilary a curt nod.

Hilary turned to her husband, Dwayne, who has been putting on a stoic expression throughout the conversation. Clearly, he is not interested in what so ever they are discussing. "Let's go, Dwayne before we run of out time." She dragged his hand gently.

"Hmm..." Dwayne could only mutter.

Megan watched as they exit the house.

"Whoa..." Megan let out an excited squeal. "I just hit the jackpot, this is really huge!"

"Excuse me, ms. Megan..." A Lady said, no one could have missed how professional she sound.

Megan was startled cause she wasn't expecting anyone to interrupt her, at first she thought it was the couple.

Megan quickly curled up her startled expression with a dry smile. "You..."

"I'm sorry, Ms. Megan. I must have startled you, I'm really sure." Sincerity was laced in the lady's voice.

"It's nothing." Megan's smile was broad by now. "I guess you are the one to show me my room then?"

"Yes, your new assigned personal maid. If you need anything, I'm always at your service." The lady muttered, avoiding Megan's eye contact. "I'm Elite by name, ma'am."

Is this how nice and caring the Zahans are? Or they are just on pretense due to the contract? Anyway it is, she needs to enjoy this moment to the fullest.

"Hmm, Elite. It's a nice name for someone like you." Megan was trying to be nice.

Elite led Megan to her new room. It was really a huge and spacious room and the color really fit her taste. If only she has great taste, though!

Megan tried her possible best to hide the smile that was tempting to spread wide and broad on her face. This room is really captivating and, what word is best in describing how this room is?

Surely, luck has decided to smile at her. Even if it's for a while...
