"Could it be Carter's first girlfriend?"

One of them snickered.

"Don't talk nonsense. Carter is getting engaged."

"So jealous, the engagement will take place in Paris, the capital of romance."

"Carter and the mayor's daughter are a perfect match. At that day the pictures they take in Paris will undoubtedly astound the city."

Carter did not say anything more, just smiled gently, and put the picked-up book back on the shelf, but his mood was long unsettled.

"Come on, Carter. Let's go upstairs?"

Not long after, the sounds of footsteps were getting farther and farther away from her.

When Rosalie heard this, her heart ached as if it was cut by a knife. She was in so much pain.
