Chapter Fourteen

"She is not here, sir."

"She's not around? Where did she go?" I asked with all seriousness.

"She didn't say, sir. She said she'd be back soon," Sheila replied.

"When did she leave the house today?" I asked, hoping to know it hadn't been long and wait for her return.

"Today? Sir... sirrr..." Sheila stuttered.

"Why are you not saying anything? I asked you to tell me when she left the house today!" I said impatiently.

"She... It's been three days, sir," she said.

I didn't say anything. I didn't know what to say. I kept quiet and tried to remain calm, but the anger inside me could wound somebody if released.

I summoned all of my workers outside. I asked how many of them knew about Sophie leaving the house. Sheila, my security man, and my gardeners raised their hands.

"I don't want to see any of you in my house starting from this moment," I said calmly.

Sheila tried to say something, but I didn't care to listen. I asked the rest to go back home and resume next week. I didn't want to see an
