Victoria had just left Jake's office and was heading to her desk. The company's senior designer, a young woman two years older than her, was helping her settle into her new job.

Her name was Lisa, and unlike Victoria, who was slim like a model, Lisa was plump.

When Lisa saw how beautiful Victoria was, a spark of jealousy ignited in her heart.

“This woman must be a flirt; I’m sure of it!”

Lisa thought, as she had always harbored feelings for Jayric. Seeing him admire this new woman made her nervous.

To vent her anger and jealousy, Lisa shoved a pile of drafts into Victoria’s arms and instructed her to review and organize the projects by the next morning. Then, without another word, she turned and went back to her desk.

Victoria stared at the tall stack of papers in her arms, nearly reaching the top of her head.

It was a lot of drafts. She wouldn’t be able to go home that night.

And her children? They needed milk!

Victoria could feel her breasts becoming heavy at the thought of her children. The weight reminded her that she needed to pump her milk within the hour.

She planned to take the milk home and then rush back to the office. It was the only way to ensure her children were fed while she stayed late at work.

Victoria carried the pile of papers back to her desk and began working on the drafts. After several hours, her breasts felt like stones—hard and heavy.

She really needed to pump her milk, but Victoria didn’t want anyone to know she was breastfeeding.

She slipped out of the office with a small bag containing her pump and headed to the bathroom on that floor.

While Victoria was pumping her milk, Jackson had just finished his meeting and was heading down to the tenth floor to discuss JB Digital’s expansion plans with Jayric.

Victoria had filled two milk bottles. After finishing, she cleaned the pump, packed it away, and prepared to take the bottles home during her lunch break.

There was enough milk for the entire afternoon.

As she exited the bathroom, still looking at her bag, she wasn’t paying attention to her surroundings.

Suddenly, Jackson stepped out of the elevator and collided with Victoria. One of the bottles she was holding, which she hadn’t fully sealed, slipped from her hand and splashed all over Jackson’s expensive gray suit.

A creamy liquid exploded instantly, and a strong smell of milk filled the air.

Jackson’s secretaries, who had joined him for the JB Digital meeting, gasped.

What had just happened? What was wrong with this woman? Was she crazy? How could she pour milk on Jackson? Did she want to be thrown out of the building?

Everyone stared stupidly at the scene, not daring to make a sound.

In fact, they were all waiting for Jackson to say something. His expression was absolutely threatening.

If looks could kill, someone would already be dead.

Victoria knew she was in trouble again. She lowered her face and froze, unable to react.

She didn’t dare make any sudden movements or sounds. Her fingers clutched her bag tightly against her chest.

She began silently praying, knowing she couldn’t afford to lose this job. She couldn’t withstand Jackson’s anger, yet she somehow managed to upset him again.

Jackson’s eyes swept over his suit, blazing with a fiery intensity.

“Victoria, look at me!” he exploded, his rough voice echoing through the office.

His voice was as cold and cutting as the harsh winters of Alaska. Victoria didn’t dare do anything.

She was on the verge of tears. It was her first day at work, and she only wanted to work in peace. Why did she keep running into this man?

She couldn’t believe she had just spilled breast milk on him. She must have the worst luck in the world.

“I won’t repeat myself again. Look at me!” Jackson was about to lose it.

Victoria finally lifted her face and met Jackson’s gaze.

“We meet again!” His hand shot out and grabbed her wrist. “Now, tell me again that you’re not plotting something.”

Jackson’s grip on Victoria’s arm was hurting her. She struggled to free herself, but Jackson didn’t let go. Instead, his fingers tightened, and the pain nearly brought Victoria to tears.

Was he trying to break her wrist? He didn’t need to hold her so tightly!

“Come on, tell me—you did this on purpose?”

“No, I swear it was an accident...”

Victoria spoke in a near whisper, looking sad and miserable. But to Jackson, it all seemed like an act. Another one of her tricks.

Or was it?

She wanted to marry someone from the Carson family, so she had drugged him and feigned ignorance when they woke up in bed together. But Jackson had always doubted the bloodstains on the sheets that night. That couldn’t have been real blood.

There was no way this woman had been a virgin before that night. She had probably undergone surgery to create the illusion that it was her first time.

“Stop pretending already. Tell me the truth, Victoria, or you’ll face my fury!”

“I’m telling the truth! I’m not lying!” Victoria shook her head quickly.

“You’re not lying?” Jackson didn’t believe her. His grip on her wrist intensified further, and Victoria felt like she was in hell, staring the devil in the face.

She had been a fool to harbor any love for this man.

She used to think he was kind, but he had never been kind. He was cruel and ruthless.

His cruelty left her hopeless, and she had no fantasies about him anymore.

The fire danced before her eyes, an unreal and terrifying image. Then instinct took over. She handed Lara to the bodyguard, the order a hoarse whisper, and leaped from the car, running toward Jackson. She reached him, her gaze shifting from the burning inferno to his face, suddenly fearing the fire had touched him. Her eyes instantly reddened.“Honey, are you okay?”“I'm fine. It's over,” he said, pulling her into his arms, a safe haven in the carnage. “He's dead.”She nodded, hugging him tighter, her head resting on his chest, an unexpected and complex sadness settling in her heart. Jackson turned, his gaze so cold it could freeze hell. “Mercy? He kidnapped my daughter. He tried to kill her.” A smile devoid of any warmth touched his lips. “I will have my revenge. Nolan, you'd better mind your own business. Ellijah's friendship wouldn't save you. Nothing would save you.”“Mr. Carson, I'm sorry for what he did,” Nolan's voice was that of a broken man, begging for a soul that was already lost. "What he did to Lara... is unforgivable. But he has mental problems. I only ask that you go easy on him. He broke the law, he must be punished. But please... allow me to send him to a psychiatric hospital first. He needs treatment. In the car, Lara struggled. The lollipop, the sweet promise that had lured her into the trap, fell onto the upholstery, forgotten. Her small body shook uncontrollably. She looked at the face of the man beside her, now a stranger, a monster.“I... I want to go home...” Her voice was a trembling whisper.“Be good, Lara. I'll take you to your new home,” he said, his voice indifferent, as he stroked her head, the gesture a desecration.Tears ran hot and silent down her cheeks.“I... want to go home...”“Don't you want to go to your new home?” he coaxed her, his voice sickly sweet. “You'll have lots of lollipops. And I'll take good care of you.”But she couldn't stop crying. She wanted her mother. Her father. Her brother. Her little sister. “I heard that the federal police are coming to investigate the legitimacy of your company and the illegal acts you committed abroad. Mr. Danniels, let's get out of here. If he didn't leave now, it would be the end.“Please, I'm begging you. Let's hide for a while. You can still live comfortably with your reputation abroad.”Ellijah's face was a mask of restrained fury.
