CHAPTER TEN

ETHAN’S POV

Immediately Brad brought back the information I told him to gather about Emily,that was when I thought I was too harsh towards Emily,maybe I should loosen up a bit and become friendly.

It turned out Emily wasn’t a spy like I thought she was,she was just a girl who was betrayed and abused by the ones she called family,she had to work as a maid in her own house,a family that she was a heir to,that was an inhuman act done by her stepmother and sister.

Now I remember why I thought her face was familiar when she first came to search for a job at the mansion,she was the beautiful girl that came out to attend to me,the day I angrily went to the Jones mansion.

I actually thought she was a maid,a beautiful one though.Turns out the poor thing was trying to escape from her stepmother and sisters.

Speaking about her stepsisters,I can remember through the pictures I saw,that Charlotte was that so called Sophia's best friend,who kept throwing herself at me after Sophia's death.I can see she took her character from her mom.

Ever since when her stepmom didn’t keep to our deal for the advertisement of one our five star hotel,I grew an immediate hatred for her.

It seemed her stepmother was trying to steal all Emily’s inheritance,what baffled me the most is that,the information that came to me about her stepmother was that she was Emily’s Moms best friend.

What's wrong with Emily's Stepmom and Step sister Charlotte,did they derive joy in wanting what belongs to their bestfriend?I rolled my eyes and sigh now I know where Charlotte got that disgusting character of hers from.

I got information about every single person related or close to Emily. When I saw pictures of her mom and dad,I knew immediately where she got her stunning look from. Her mom was just as beautiful as Emily,but sadly she died in a car fire accident,what a pathetic story.

Apparently Emily’s Nanny who took care of her since birth,willingly gave us this information and even sent a message across to me,to please take care of Emily.

Learning the truth about Emily I admired and pitied her at the same time,she was strong willed and hardworking even though she came from a rich family.The information came and then I chose to protect,Like her Nanny begged me to and help her take down enemies.

But first I needed to get her close enough to me,so that I could protect and keep an eye on her.Granny agreed more easily than I thought she would.

I brought her to my penthouse,without the intention of making her work too hard.I could see from the reaction on her face that she loved my house. It made my heart flustered and felt warm.

I showed her to her room and I could tell she loved it. She had a beautiful and radiant smile. Under a different circumstance I would have said she was actually my type,because she possessed all the qualities I liked in a woman,most of all she reminded me of Sophia.

She asked if I had a girlfriend,I could have sworn I saw a look of jealousy on her face before she masked it away,that shows that she’s actually not a social media type of person like the information told me,if not she would have known I haven’t been with any woman since Sophia died.

I couldn’t help but admit that I was fascinated by her and becoming more interested and curious about her.She came from a wealthy family,but still behaved like an ordinary person,I admired that about her.She doesn’t know that I know who she really is and I think feigning ignorance would help for now.

I knew she would find it weird and strange if I just came out of the blues and started acting cool and friendly to her,so I made up my mind to take it one step at a time.She offered to prepare breakfast for me when we got to the penthouse,but I declined and told her to settle in and unpack first.

I had to put in much effort to make her room beautiful and comfortable for her,because she had been through a lot since the death of her dad,I had to bring down my pride and ask Ava on ideas on how to go shopping for beauty and skin care products for Emily,just so she could be more comfortable and feel at home,of course I didn’t tell Ava it was Emily I was getting them for.

I stayed in my room checking and replying to business mails,I would be working from home today.Afternoon came,I got tired of working and decided to go and rest at my balcony,I saw that Emily had made lunch,the aroma was alluring.

She smiled and told me to come have lunch.She started dishing the food,she made chips and fish for lunch,i couldn’t help but take a glance at her,she would make a beautiful wife ,I thought.

Nathan came to visit me when Emily was serving my lunch. I found it strange because Nathan never visited me by this time when he is supposed to be attending to patients in his hospital.I frowned because I knew he had an ulterior motive.I just sat back and watched what was going to happen.

I saw him trying to flirt with her in the pretense of trying to be her friend,I wasn’t gonna sit and let him take advantage of her naivety and make her another of conquest.Not knowing what came over me I asked him to leave my house,Emily was an innocent girl and I would try to protect her from playboys like Nathan.

I was just angry that she wanted to accepted the phone,couldn’t she have just told me she needed a phone?.Nathan stormed out of my house in anger,Emily looked embarrassed and tried to explain to me but ,I didn’t want to stay in the same space with her right now because I felt betrayed,so I stormed out of the dining area to my room,went into my room and locked the door.

I wondered why I was feeling this heartache,Nathan was right in one aspect,I am neither her boyfriend nor her dad,so I decided to just protect her but distance myself from her.

I heard a knock on my door,I knew it was Emily but I wasn’t in the mood to talk to her. I needed to be left alone and think.

But Emily kept knocking and banging on my door,out of anger i opened my door and shouted,

”Don’t you dare knock on my door you whore,what are you still doing here won’t you chase after your boyfriend?Remember that you are just my maid and nothing more.Now get out of my sight”I said, gritting my teeth and shutting my door.

She has begun to make me feel things I only felt for Sophia.I was only this possessive towards Sophia,and right now am acting like a jealous boyfriend,I groaned as I rested my back on my door,could it be that I am beginning to have feelings for Emily?.
