It was way past work hours but I wasn’t in the mood to go home because Abigail wouldn’t be home yet. She went out with her friends in the afternoon and I was sure their plans stretched out until midnight.

I just concentrated on working so I would leave work early the next day and spend time with her.

I was busy when my phone started to ring. I smiled, thinking it was Abby, but it happened to be an unknown number. I stared at my screen in confusion. There weren’t many people who had my private number and I didn’t give it to anyone new in the past months, so how…

I watched the phone until it finished ringing and just when j I wanted to go back to my work, it started ringing again. I massaged my forehead before I answered it. I merely brought it to my ear and didn’t speak, waiting for the unknown caller to speak first.
