I never thought there’d be a time when I would hate working, but I hated it a lot recently because it kept me away from my wife. She was so close yet so far away. It was distracting.

I straightened up when the door to my office suddenly opened. “Mr. Galanti, what can I do for you this time?”

I held back a laugh. This was the seventh time I was calling her into my office and it was only ten in the morning. “I don’t know, Mrs. Galanti. What can you do for me?”

Abigail shot me an irritated look. “I’m beginning to regret working for you again.”

“It’s been two months since you resumed. You should be used to it by now.”

After months of pleading with her, Abigail finally agreed to be my secretary again, but it was part-time this time around. She usually clocked off by one so she could attend her baking classes.
