LOGINRoman’s POV
After Celeste left the dining room, the atmosphere around the table became unbearable. Nobody seemed interested in eating anymore.
My father looked disappointed, Throne looked furious, and Willow looked offended.
But I didn't care. They stepped on the wrong toes.
The tension hanging in the hallway didn't disappear immediately. After Viktor grabbed Celeste's wrist and declared she wasn't going anywhere with me, I was fully prepared for another fight. A part of me actually welcomed it. The first one had been interrupted too soon. But before either of us could say another word, Celeste turned toward Viktor. She simply looked at him without a word. Just one look, and Viktor stepped back. His grip loosened. Rhen completely disappeared. For a second, even I was surprised. Viktor looked away first. The anger remained on his face, but there was something else there, too. He clenched his jaw tightly before speaking. "Fine. Do whatever you want." Celeste didn't respond. Neither did I. Honestly, I didn't care what had just happened between them. All I cared about was the fact that Viktor had finally let go of her. Because whether he liked it or not, Celeste was my wife now. Contract or not, three years or not…she married me. And I wasn't about t
Roman’s POVAfter Celeste left the dining room, the atmosphere around the table became unbearable. Nobody seemed interested in eating anymore. My father looked disappointed, Throne looked furious, and Willow looked offended. But I didn't care. They stepped on the wrong toes.Millie…she was just there. As for me? I simply wanted to find my wife before she got herself into another argument. Not because I was worried. At least, that's what I told myself. I eventually excused myself and left the dining room. The mansion was large enou
Celeste’s POVThe moment I stepped out of the dining room, I kept walking. I didn't know where I was going, and I didn't care either. I just knew that if I remained at that table for one more minute, something terrible would happen.Something involving Millie. Possibly a plate or a fork. Maybe both will be thrown at her. I released a long breath as I moved through the hallways of the mansion. The sound of conversation gradually faded behind me until all I could hear was the soft clicking of my heels against the marble floor.I eventually found myself outside. The cool evening air greeted me immediately. A small breeze brushed against my face, carrying the scent of flowers from the gardens. For the first time that evening, I felt like I could breathe properly. I continued walking without any destination in mind. The stone pathway stretched ahead of me while decorative lights illuminated the gardens around the mansion. It should have been peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. Guess it was
Roman's POVI felt the change in Celeste the moment her eyes were set on Millie. Her fingers stiffened in mine, her shoulders straightened. And then came the smile. Not the polite smile she had been wearing throughout the evening. Not the fake smile she kept throwing at me whenever she wanted to annoy me.This one was a genuine, victorious smile. I followed her gaze and immediately understood why. Millie's face had lost all color. She looked like she had seen a ghost. Her eyes darted from Celeste's face to our intertwined hands and back again. The disbelief was so obvious that I almost laughed.Apparently, Celeste becoming my wife wasn't part of her plans.I tightened my grip around Celeste's hand and pulled her slightly closer to my side.Instinctive and simple. Yet I felt her pause for half a second.Millie's expression worsened immediately.A maid quickly appeared beside us, "Dinner is ready, sir."Her voice broke the silent tension growing between the two women.Another set of f
I sighed again. When exactly would all this end?I looked around the luxurious bedroom one more time. The massive bed, the expensive furniture, the walk-in closet larger than my apartment, the private lounge area. I suddenly felt a headache coming on.It was like Roman could somehow hear every complaint forming inside my head because he glanced at me and shook his head."Stop nagging and cursing at me in your mind."I immediately looked at him. "What? I wasn't doing that."Roman walked toward the wardrobe casually. "You keep looking at me like I'm responsible for all your problems.""I know you're not. And I'm not complaining. It's all just in your head.""Are you trying to convince me you're not cursing me out?”I opened my mouth and closed it back. Unfortunately, he was right. “Well, I wasn't,” I said finally. “As I said, it's all in your head. Don't make me feel guilty for regretting my decisions now.” Roman turned around and looked directly at me. "You're the one who called me,
I nodded quickly and forced a smile onto my face."Of course. I'll be there for dinner."The old man's face brightened immediately."Good. Good." He chuckled before looking toward Roman. "Make sure she doesn't disappear on us."Roman slipped a hand into his pocket and shook his head lightly. "She won't. She's family now."The words sounded simple enough, yet hearing them made something stir inside me. I had only been married for a few hours, and already everyone seemed determined to remind me of it.His father appeared satisfied with the answer."Perfect. Then I'll see both of you tonight."Roman gave a slight nod while I smiled politely.Soon after, we all headed inside the mansion. The moment we crossed the entrance, a few maids stepped forward. One of them stopped in front of me and bowed respectfully."Mrs. Evercrest, please allow me to show you around." She smiled, her eyes never leaving mine. Roman shook his head, “You should go with her. I'll join you later.” What? We were ju
Celeste's POVI fell backwards, his words hitting me like a wave of shock. "What?"He repeated his words, slowly this time like he was afraid I would ask for it again. I raised a brow at him.I barely knew this man. No, I didn't even know him at all, and he dared propose marriage to me. In such an
“Miss Celeste!” Yuna yelled. “What is it this time?”She grabbed my wrist. “You’re getting married tomorrow?!”Rumors spread faster than the truth in this city.I sighed and stepped aside, letting her in. “Come inside before you start shouting in the hallway.”Yuna followed me in but didn’t calm
Celeste's POVThe parents looked solemn, but they didn't demand that I pay for their child's life. The child's mother mentioned that he had always been ill and the death wasn't tied to the accident.I breathed a sigh of relief, quickly giving them a little compensation for their fault but I still
Celeste's POV“I'll definitely take care of it all. Just focus on finding the money we need.” Yuna assured me. I sniffed, cleaning the tears that fell from my eyes. “Okay,” I replied, cutting the call.My hand fell, and I held on tighter to the railings, letting the tears fall. I had never thoug
