LOGINRILEY
After an hour, we walked back to the bookstore, which was closed since it was late. I opened the door to let us in; even though it was his grandmother's shop, he probably had keys. He never revealed them to me and let me do it myself.
We walked quickly through the bookstore and straight up the stairs until we reached the top. We stood like we did when he came to get me for our date—really close. So close in the face that I could feel the heat from his body excite me again, which caused a surge of wetness between my legs, but I kept my focus and turned to face the door. I placed the key in the door, only to unlock it, but I never opened it.
Would it be too soon to ask him to come in?
Turning around, my eyes went to his while he stared at me. "Thank you for tonight," I murmured. "I enjoyed myself."
Logan grinned.
"I am so happy to hear that. I want to take you out again," he asked, which startled me.
He wanted to see me again. So soon. Was that too eager, or was I... f**k, I needed to get a grip. The man was desirable as sin. Of course, I was going to say yes.
Gulping while I keep my eyes on him. "You want to see me again?" I asked, and I let out a nervous laugh. "I thought I bored you to death with all the questions."
Logan chuckled, which was doing more for me, and I wanted to hear him do it again. Now, that was weird.
"You will never bore me, Riley," he said, moving closer, which made me move back and hit the door with my whole back frame. He didn't seem to care. "I want to take you out again," he said, his eyes bore back into mine. "Second date?"
I looked at him for a few moments and smiled.
"Okay, I would love that," I said, wondering if he would kiss me. His closeness was doing too much to me, making me want to pounce on him, but all my head wanted to do was go slow. I didn't want to get hurt.
Logan didn't seem to be that kind of guy. He seemed to be a good catch. But I have met a few who acted like they were over the years and threw me under the bus when they didn't like what I was giving back to them. The worst would be when they would ghost me and not tell me what I had done, but it became apparent that they didn't like who I was or had a hard time getting to know me.
We stood in silence for what felt like a house while he stared at me until suddenly I heard something that made my heart race and my core tighten again.
"I want to kiss you," he murmured, which made my eyes widen.
"You want to—" I said, but I didn't finish my sentence when he stepped closer, closing the gap between us, and placed his lips on mine. He stopped me from talking with his mouth.
I pulled back, startled, while hitting the door behind me, which seemed to surprise him. His eyes stayed on me while I tried to process what had happened.
There was little to no gap between us, which made the heat from his body intensify.
My eyes stayed on his while his eyes were wide and black.
As I spotted them that shade, Logan closed his eyes and waited until he opened them again, but they were back to blue.
What the actual hell?
How did he do that?
It must have been my eyes, surely.
Logan looked at me, his face unreadable. I wanted to kiss him again. I don't know what the harm was, right? The date was amazing, and we had a good time. Ending a wonderful date with a kiss was reasonable enough, even to me.
Taking a leap of courage, I closed the gap between us and placed my lips on his again, which made him freeze, but he quickly recovered. His hand gripped my waist and leaned me against the door, while his other hand cupped my face while he kissed me more. His tongue gliding over my bottom lip, I happily let him.
The kiss deepens when his tongue slides into my mouth and explores every bit of my mouth. I get wet instantly, and that's just by kissing him.
We are having a hard make-out session outside my door. After a few more seconds, a low rumble escapes his chest escapes, and he moves away again, panting while his head rests on mine. We both pant, both with need and want in our eyes.
I could seriously take him into my apartment and f**k him now, but this is our first date, and I couldn't do that. I have never returned a man to mine until the third or fourth date.
Once we both composed ourselves, he moved slightly and smiled. Something was there, but I couldn't figure out what it was.
"I like how you taste," he murmured, making my heart race again.
"Don't make plans for tomorrow," he said, sounding like he had gathered himself better. His eyes stayed on me while he continued. "I want to take you out again."
Before I could even agree with him, he rushed to speak again. "I will see you tomorrow. Be ready by four."
With that, he moved back and walked down the stairs. My eyes never left him, even when I heard the door close behind him from the store. I hear him locking the store once he's outside; he has a key!
I stood, shocked at what happened.
What the hell happened?
Letting my mind have a few moments to register, it became apparent that Logan Peters kissed me, and I liked it.
And what a kiss it was. I was gushing inside, like I wanted to explode. I think I'm falling for a guy I have known for a week. Is that possible?
Shaking my thoughts out of my state, I turned and headed into the apartment. Knowing exactly what I needed—a cold shower.

RILEYStepping into the back, my mind raced over everything that had happened.Logan Peters asked me out on a date, and I still couldn't believe it. The hot stud of the town asked me out on a date.Even though my mind was swirling with everything imaginable, the excitement of seeing him again was there. But as soon as the excitement came, so did the nervousness. And then questions rippled through everything that could happen. He may not like me, but maybe he was doing it all to make me feel safe and welcome in the new town.Shaking my head, I made some coffee and leaned back against the counter, relishing again the mere thought of what would happen. There was so much I needed to do.What the hell was I going to wear for this date?Where was he taking me?There were so many questions that I gave myself a headache. After having my coffee, I walked back into the store, only for Margret to tell me I could finish early. The look she gave me was enough to tell me Logan had told her we were
LOGANI finally found her—my mate.It has taken me eight years to find her, which is a long time for a werewolf to be without a mate, especially an alpha.Riley is human, but I don't care; she is perfect.I'm a werewolf, the alpha of the Black Claw pack. After moving about three years ago, we settled into the unfamiliar territory. While exploring, we all came across an abandoned town on the south side of the territory. It looked like it had been vacant for years. After many meetings with all pack members, we came up with turning the town into a tourist hot spot. Everyone had ideas for each store, including my grandmother, and even named it Forest Valley. Within a year, we all got to work and finished it. Everyone worked on their own businesses and made it more like the towns in those hallmark movies. The town is close to a lake and has amazing scenery. We knew we had to advertise this place, and we did. We started our own bus services, which would take a few pack members away, and the
RILEYONE WEEK LATEROver the next week, after seeing my apartment and loving it from the middle, I walked into it. It felt like home in some weird way to me, which was even harder to believe with the history I had. After traveling for almost a year to find the right place to call home, I settled in the small town of Forest Valley. I am convinced that this is where I could see myself living and making a life for myself. The town has everything you could want, from the stores to the gorgeous scenery with the forest all around. When I got here, I looked around after unpacking what I had. I wanted to look around to see what else there was to offer. Margret showed me a way out, which was at the back of the store, and that was when I found a path from the back entrance of the bookstore leading to a beautiful lake. For the last three days, I have gotten up early and walked to the lake where you can see the sun coming up. It was so magical.I have been working at Margaret's bookstore for ove
RILEYI stepped off the bus into the new town. The woman at the bus station booth said this place was worth seeing, and she was right. It had the most beautiful scenery, and the town seemed to have its own history. The breeze hits my face. The musky smell of the forest hit me, which was much better than I had over the years, such as manure. I have stayed in some worse places than this.I stood and scanned the town. It looked small, with a few stores, each with its own quirky style, which made it even more amazing. This is probably somewhere I can call home—maybe.Looking over my shoulder and back at the bus stop. It was right in the middle of the town. I place my bag on my shoulder as the bus leaves the station.I look both ways to cross the road and take everything about this place. There is so much to see. But my eyes fall on the one place I love—a bookstore.I love reading and everything that it offers. It is an escape from reality when you need to leave, and sometimes, I always ne
