"Moon, wait!"
Lucas halted, his chest rising and falling fast. His hands were clenched by his sides, as if he was holding himself back. “Please,” bulong niya, “can we talk?” Napangiti si Moon ng mapait. “Talk? After everything? After that girl introduced herself as your fiancée like I was just another employee craving your attention?” Lucas stepped closer. “She wasn’t supposed to, Moon, hindi ko alam na—” “Don’t,” she cut him off, her voice low but sharp. “Don’t insult my intelligence.” Moon felt her face burn, not from shame, but full of betrayal “I deserved the truth,” she added, her voice cracking. “At the very least, Lucas, I deserved goodbye.” His fists were shaking now. Not here. Not now. And not when Daniella could be watching. “Moon, please… let me—” “No,” she whispered. “Save it. For her.” Tumalikod si Moon. And with every step she took away from him, Lucas felt the weight of the secret he carried push him down even deeper. --- Later that day… Inside the Madrigal conference hall, Daniella sat at the head of the table, legs crossed, sipping from a porcelain cup of earl grey. “Oh, Miss De Vera,” Daniella greeted sweetly, her red lipstick too perfect, too sharp. “There you are.” “Yes, ma’am. Here are the files that Mr. Madrigal requested.” Daniella stood. “You’re very efficient,” Daniella said. “Kaya pala nagustuhan ka ng fiancé ko.” Moon blinked. “Excuse me, ma’am?” “I mean professionally,” dagdag ni Daniella agad. “You’ve been working under Lucas for a while, right?” Professionally.” “Hmm. Well, I do hope you remain professional. Alam mo naman, some girls tend to overstep when the man in charge is… irresistible.” --- The next day… Rumors began to swirl. “Did you hear? “I heard his fiancée personally asked for her transfer sa lower branch…” Moon walked past them all, holding back tears. Sa HR department, she was called in for a random performance evaluation, something that had never happened in her two months sa company. Sa bawat sulok ng office, she could feel the eyes. The whispers. Lucas saw her once in the hallway, looking so small despite her strength. He wanted to reach out pero naroon si Daniella. Laging naroon si Daniella. --- Later that night… Moon stared blankly at the city lights from her apartment window. A soft knock echoed. She opened the door, and to her surprise, there he was—Lucas Madrigal. Soaked in guilt. Tired. Wounded. “Lucas, anong ginagawa mo dito?” “I needed to see you. To explain everything.” Moon crossed her arms. “Now you care?” “I never stopped.” “Then bakit mo ko iniwan?” Lucas looked at her, voice low and honest. “Because loving you meant hurting you.” Silence. Moon didn’t reply. Not yet. But her eyes spoke the pain he caused. And behind those eyes, Lucas saw something else, anger, yes. Betrayal, yes. But still… hope. He just didn’t know how long it would last. ---“Please, Lucas. Just leave.”Moon’s voice cracked, but she didn’t care. Her arms remained crossed, guarding herself from the very man who shattered her.Lucas stood still. His breathing ragged, voice almost pleading.“I can’t. Not yet. Hindi pa puwede, Moon.”She looked away, jaw clenched. “Lucas, don’t make this harder.”“I need to tell you something.”“Tapos na tayo. There’s nothing more to say—”“There is,” he cut in, desperate. “Seven years ago… it wasn’t just about saving face. That was only part of it. The truth is, matagal na kitang gusto, way before that stupid incident kaya nagkaro'n tayo ng contract”Moon slowly turned to face him, disbelief painting her features. Alam kong mali. Pero noong panahong 'yon, that was the only way I could think of. You were always so unreachable, Moon.

“Madrigal Group’s ambiance is so boring. You really need a touch of my taste,” she said with a loud, confident tone, eyes roaming around the office like she owned it.Nakasuot siya ng dark red velvet dress, fit na fit sa maputi’t perpektong katawan niya. Louis Vuitton heels. Prada bag. “Lucas, baby, you didn’t tell me your secretary looks so... young. "Yes love? Did you missed me?"Si Lucas… may fiancée? Bakit walang pasabi. Bakit bigla.Ang dahilan ay
Inside Lucas Madrigal’s black SUV7:42 PM — Rain tapping lightly on the windowsThe silence between them was deafening, even with the soft hum of the car engine.Moon sat still, her hands clenched on her lap, eyes locked on the windshield as streetlights painted gold streaks across the glass. She didn’t dare look at Lucas not when her heart was racing like hell, not when her mind was screaming with a thousand why’s.Lucas gripped the steering wheel tighter than necessary.“M-Moon...” his voice finally broke the silence. She didn’t respond. He glanced sideways, only to see her jaw tighten. She was clearly holding it in the questions, the anger, the pain.“You’re quiet,” he said.Moon let out a sarcastic laugh, bitter, short, painful. “What do you want me to say? ‘Thanks for the ride, boss’?”Lucas sighed. “Stop calling me boss.”“Why not? That’s what you are now, right?” she snapped, finally turning to him. Her eyes shimmered not from tears, but from suppressed fury. “You’re not the sa
Sa white long sleeves na may nakaluwag na two buttons. Perfect pa rin kahit disoras ng gabi."Saan mo nakuha 'yung alak?" tanong niya habang dahan-dahang lumalapit."From the fridge. And from the pain you caused me, obviously.""You're drunk.""No shit, Lucas," sabay tungga ko sa bote.
Moon murmured, impatiently tapping her high heels on the marble floor. She was wearing a perfectly pressed silk blouse tucked neatly into her pencil skirt, hair in a slick ponytail, holding a leather folder filled with reports she crammed the whole night. Bagsak ang confidence niya today. Wala siyang tulog. Wala rin siyang gana. Bakit? Because Lucas Madrigal decided to ignore her again — for the fifth time this week."Morning, Ma'am Moon," bati ng janitor, who was sweeping near the lobby."Morning, Kuya Danny," she greeted with a small smile. Finally, the elevator doors opened. Pagkapasok niya, bumuntong-hininga siya and leaned her head slightly against the elevator wall. Bakit ba kasi siya pumayag sa set-up na 'to? From fake girlfriend to secretary, ang downgrade, girl.----"Miss Moon, may sinasabi si Sir Lucas. Meeting daw in fifteen minutes," announced Gabbie, her co-staff, habang sumisilip sa cubicle niya."Thanks," she nodded. She fix
