I stumbled out of my apartment in New

Jersey, almost tripping on my sneakers. Heaven's help me. I was always late for the bus but not today. It was weekend and that meant spending it over at Ray's.

I didn't stop running and tripping until I was inside the bus. Yeah! I mentally congratulated myself. I had a lot to gist Ray about when I got to New York City.

I held until the railings of the rickety old bus that led to New York, as though my life depended on it.

The gown I wore clung beautifully to my body. Ray would love it, I thought, congratulating myself.

The distance from New Jersey to New York was just two miles, and I wondered why he wouldn't let me drive.
