Third Person's POV

Melanie met Elmer at the entrance.

Elmer leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Prof. Norman is going to be here for this expo."

Melanie froze, her eyes widening slightly, and her back muscles tensed up involuntarily.

Elmer smiled wryly. "Good thing you found someone to help you out quickly. If he'd seen you walk in late, well..."

She immediately understood the implication.

Marcus always operated strictly by the book; excuses never helped. Lateness was seen as a sign of disrespect.

Her choice to mate and become the Razor Pack's Luna after graduation was already a mark against her in Marcus's mind.

To show up late for their first reunion? The consequences would be severe.

The back of her scent gland felt cold.

"So, thankfully, you weren't late," Elmer finished, lowering his voice.

Melanie slowly brought her breathing back to normal.

She nodded and walked with Elmer toward the ticket booth, her pheromones carefully contained. They moved through the crowd, the lights, an

Melanie's POVI knew Moira was, once again, trying to "bind" us into a single unit, attempting to maintain the image of a complete Alpha family at this kind of dinner.I didn't look at Archer's reaction. I just followed Moira into the dining room to sit down. The dining room had a long table. Plates and cutlery were already set on both sides, with a row of shared dishes in the middle—roast beef, roasted vegetables, salad, chicken wings, small rolls, and a few light, hot dishes that I preferred.I sat across from Moira and Trista. In my periphery, Archer pulled out the chair to my left and sat down next to me.Moira finally looked a little satisfied. After the main courses and sides were served, she told Archer, "Get some food for Melanie. She just rushed back and must be hungry."I didn't look at him. "It's fine, I'll—"Before I could finish, Archer reached out. From the nearest platter, he cut a piece of the spicy

Melanie's POVAfter getting into the car, I drove straight toward the Razor Pack.Leaving the city streets and the human areas, the night deepened. The car headlights sliced the shadows of the trees along the highway into segments.I drove up the private road, and the outline of the main estate came into view. The old manor was only partially lit at night, the windows like half-closed eyes.By the time I got there, it was completely dark.Inside, besides the omgeas, only Moira was present.Notified that I had arrived, she set down her cup and personally came out of the living room to greet me.When she saw me walk in alone, the smile on her face paused noticeably. "Where's Trista?" she asked.Archer not riding with me was normal, but Trista usually came back with me.Since my ankle healed and I went to the Alpha villa to have dinner with her, she hadn't contacted me once on her own initiative. As for where

  • The Breaking Point of Mate: Giving Up on My Alpha   Chapter 56

Third Person's POVThe delicate line of her shoulders, the clean, full curve of her chest, and the sharp tuck of her waist were suddenly exposed, highlighted by the morning light and the steam. The moment the robe was yanked open, the scent that had been suppressed by the fabric also escaped—it wasn't just shower gel or hot spring water; it was the she-wolf pheromones, now activated by the heat.It carried a cold, moonlight quality and a slight, contained sharpness, like a blade slipping beneath the surface of the water.Everyone froze.Melanie's face flushed hot, even the tips of her ears burning. She instinctively reached out and pulled the torn robe closed.Dwight's eyes darkened. The burst of pheromones hitting him with the steam made the wolf inside him surge up—Alpha wolves are inherently possessive, and they react more acutely to powerful she-wolves.Normally, a marked Luna would clearly carry her mat

Third Person's POVDwight clearly saw that she was noticeably more distant toward him now than she had been before. That aloofness wasn't intentional coldness; it was a subtle, invisible boundary—she wouldn't cross it, and she didn't want him crossing it either. He instinctively blamed it on the awkward encounter at the racetrack. Seeing her leave, he simply nodded and didn't try to stop her.As Melanie walked away, Elmer came out with his plate. He glanced at the people at her former table. "Who was that?"When he waved earlier, Dwight's back was to him. From a distance, he just saw the broad-shouldered back of a man and a child sitting next to him. He assumed they were just random guests sharing a table. But seeing Melanie go over and talk to them, they couldn't be total strangers."Dwight," she explained simply."Dwight?" Elmer raised an eyebrow, surprised. "I thought you two weren't close. Why were you sitting

Melanie's POVNot far away, by another pool, a little girl about Trista's age was squatting on the edge. She was leaning far forward, reaching out to slap the water. This pool was about four feet deep, or about 1.2 meters.I instinctively calculated the distance in my head, my body tensing up before my mind could fully process it."Hold still," I started to say. Before the words were fully out, I heard a splash—The little girl tumbled into the water.I reacted purely on instinct, surging out of the pool, vaulting the edge, and quickly pulling the child out of the water and into my arms. Her hands clutched my neck desperately. She was crying and coughing, her small face bright red, her breathing ragged. The shock had clogged her chest and throat before she could fully catch her breath."It's okay. Breathe—slow down."I gently patted the child's back to comfort her, asked for her family's information, a

Melanie's POVHe and Camille were standing side-by-side, coming down from the upper floors. That whole "busy" was probably just having dinner with Camille. But I didn't say any of this out loud.During dinner, I tried to keep my tone light, sticking to talking to Trista about school and the cartoons she was watching.Maybe because I had intentionally given her more freedom lately, not using my Luna aura to control her or correct every "rude" thing she said, she was much closer than before. She wasn't moody or impatient anymore. She ate and talked, occasionally leaning into me. Her pup pheromones quietly diffused into the air, making the table finally feel a little bit like "home."After dinner, Trista pulled me upstairs. She said she wanted me to bathe her, wash her hair, and blow it dry tonight.Usually, Shannon did these things; she only asked me when she wanted me to be a "special guest."I agreed to everything she asked for tonight.I stood in the bathroom, carefully avoiding her
