"How do you know about that?!" Lena’s scream tore through the soundproof cabin of the SUV, laced with paralyzing terror.

The warehouse. The cold concrete. The stench of blood. The dying man. It was the darkest corner of her mind, locked away behind years of therapy and forced smiles. No one knew. Not Emma. Not her mother. Not even the doctors who claimed her trauma was just a side effect of a concussion.

She shoved violently against Adrian’s chest, her nails digging into his suit. "Who are you?! Are you one of them? Did they send you to finish it? Answer me!"

Adrian did not flinch. He kept his massive frame hovering over her, his hands caging her wrists against the seat. His eyes scanned every millimeter of her panicked face.

"I'm not one of them," he said, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "I’m the reason you were there."

"Liar!" she spat, kicking at his legs. "You’re a twisted liar! I saw the hospital records! You told Emma you were in a car crash eight years ago! You told her you were recovering in Switzerland!"

"Because if the people who put me in that warehouse knew I was alive, they wouldn't have just come back to kill me." His grip tightened. "They would have tracked down and killed the girl who dragged my bleeding body out of the wreckage."

Lena froze. The oxygen vanished from her lungs.

A heavy silence slammed into the car. The only sound was the hum of the engine and the aggressive squeal of tires as the chauffeur navigated the winding mountain roads.

She stared up at the billionaire. Adrian Hayes. The untouchable golden boy. The man her sister was supposed to marry just twenty minutes ago.

But as the amber streetlights flickered across his face, the corporate veneer stripped away entirely. She stared at the sharp angle of his jaw, the deep shadow in his eyes, the ragged rhythm of his breathing. Her mind violently fractured, desperately trying to reject the buried memory clawing its way up.

The overwhelming smell of rain and rust. A wet, agonizing cough echoing in the dark. A hand, slick with warm blood, grabbing her ankle to stop her from running away.

"No," Lena whispered, shaking her head frantically. "No, you don't understand. I was in an accident. I hit my head. The doctors told me my memories from that month are fragmented. They aren't real. The nightmares aren't real."

"They lied to you."

"Stop it!"

"They wiped your records, Lena!" Adrian’s voice broke its calm restraint. He suddenly let go of her wrists, giving her space. "They manipulated your doctors! They erased the police reports! They convinced you the most traumatic night of your life was a delusion so you would never look for the truth!"

Lena scrambled backward, pressing her spine hard against the opposite door. She fumbled blindly for the handle, yanking it, but the child locks were engaged. She was trapped in a speeding steel cage with a madman who knew her deepest secrets.

"Unlock this door!" she demanded, panic rising in her throat. "I am going back to my sister! I don’t care about your conspiracies or your family lies! You ruined my life today, you destroyed my family, and I am not going anywhere with you!"

"Your life was ruined the second you stepped into that church," Adrian fired back, returning to the calculating CEO he was known to be. "Do you think crashing a Hayes wedding is a simple scandal? Do you have any idea what you just triggered?"

"I exposed a liar!"

"You exposed a target!" Adrian leaned forward, the terrifying intensity returning to his eyes. "Whoever arranged for me to marry Emma wasn't just making a mistake. They made sure I married the wrong sister so the right one would stay hidden. By standing up in front of the city today, you painted a giant target on your back."

Lena’s breath hitched. "What are you talking about?"

Before Adrian could answer, the SUV violently swerved.

The brutal screech of tires ripped through the air as the vehicle jerked to the left, throwing Lena hard against the leather seats. Adrian immediately lunged forward, wrapping his arms securely around her and shielding her body as the car slammed into something heavy on the dark road.

Metal crunched with a deafening groan. Bulletproof glass cracked inward, spider-webbing across the windows in a terrifying pattern.

"Drive!" Adrian roared at the chauffeur, his voice drowning in the horrific grinding noise of the collision.

"They’ve blocked the pass, Mr. Hayes!" the driver shouted back, blood dripping from a fresh cut on his forehead as he furiously gripped the steering wheel, trying to reverse. "There are two black trucks up ahead. They ran us off the road!"

Lena pushed against Adrian’s chest, her heart hammering against her ribs as she peered through the cracked glass.

Through the thickening fog and the blinding glare of high-beam headlights, heavily armed men were stepping out of the blocking vehicles. They weren't paparazzi. They weren't the police. They were moving with lethal precision.

Adrian reached beneath his seat. When his hand reappeared, he was gripping a sleek, black handgun. He racked the slide with a terrifying, practiced ease that sent a new wave of terror through Lena's veins.

He looked down at her, his eyes completely devoid of warmth, replaced by a deadly, chilling calm.

"You wanted to know if the nightmares were real, Lena?" he whispered, his finger slipping seamlessly onto the trigger. "Welcome back to the warehouse."

The freezing wind howling off the Potomac River did absolutely nothing to cool the apocalyptic hellfire burning in Isabella’s dark eyes. She stepped completely out of the Leviathan pod, her bare, bleeding feet leaving perfect, crimson prints on the immaculate mahogany deck of the stealth yacht. She was a horrifying, magnificent vision of pure, unadulterated sovereign wrath. Her hospital gown was shredded and soaked in radioactive ash and her own blood, her dark hair plastered to her skull, the heavy Vanguard combat knife perfectly balanced in her grip.Helena Vance backed away, the glowing biometric master cylinder trembling violently in her perfectly manicured hand. The eighty-year-old architect of the global shadow government had completely exhausted her contingencies. There were no cartel mercenaries left. No sleeper agents. No blast doors to hide behind. It was just a mother, a daughter, and a river of blood between them."Stay back!" Helena shrieked, her aristocratic velvet compl

The deafening roar of the Potomac River violently breaching the subterranean containment vents was a sound of absolute, world-ending destruction. Millions of gallons of freezing, dark water aggressively exploded through the overhead grates, crashing down into the massive cavern with the kinetic force of a collapsing skyscraper."The Leviathan!" Julian rasped, his massive body violently shuddering against Isabella’s shoulder as he pointed a trembling, blood-slicked hand toward the absolute lowest tier of the catwalk, directly beneath the primary coolant reservoir. "Sector Four wasn't built as a cage, "moya dusha".... it was built as a launchpad."The first wave of freezing river water violently slammed into the searing, irradiated steel of the reactor pit below. The catastrophic temperature collision instantly generated a blinding, suffocating wall of superheated steam. The entire cavern turned into a boiling, pitch-black abyss."Nikolai!" Isabella’s fists rained down on the thermal glass with a bone-shattering desperation that completely defied her broken body."Julian!" Her scream did not echo; it was violently swallowed by the dying, suffocating red glow of the sealed lower pit.On the other side of the unbreakable barrier, the King of the underworld was a fallen god. Julian Sterling lay collapsed on the irradiated steel grating, his massive frame completely motionless. The bloody handprint he had left on the glass was already beginning to dry in the catastrophic, baking heat of the sealed chamber. The lead-lined control rods had successfully smothered the nuclear chain reaction, but the residual radiation inside the pit was a localized, lethal oven."He’s not moving, Izzy," Leo whispered, his voice trembling violently as he stumbled back from the dead-man's switch. The boy was completely pale, his psychological conditioning entirely shattered, leaving only a terrified child staring at a mass grave. "The radiation...

Leo screamed, the mechanized sleeper-agent completely obliterated by the raw, human terror of the burning abyss. His fingers were violently cramping, slipping against the heavy spring mechanism of the detonator. "Izzy, my hand is failing!""Hold it, Leo!" In the absolute dark, guided entirely by feral, apex instinct, he lunged for the solid steel blast doors. His massive, blood-slicked hands violently gripped the heavy emergency release lever. The electronic locks were dead, frozen by Leo’s system override. With a demonic, world-ending roar, Julian violently forced the lever downward, completely shattering the internal locking pins with brute, kinetic force. Helena’s command shattered into a raw, terrified shriek, completely stripped of its aristocratic velvet. The suffocating "HISSSSSS" of the ICU’s atmospheric scrubbers reversing polarity aggressively dominated the subterranean room. The atmospheric pressure violently plummeted, popping Isabella’s eardrums and instantly pulling the remaining oxygen directly out of her lungs. The red emergency strobes pulsed like a dying, frantic heartbeat over the stark white tiles.Helena’s dozen armed guards didn't hesitate. They swung their suppressed assault rifles toward the reinforced observation windows of the surgical suite, unleashing a deafening, catastrophic barrage of heavy-caliber fire."CRACK. CRACK.
