Blake’s Pov

By the time I was done showering, I was already sure I was going to avoid Ridge all day if I could, because I wasn't sure I wanted him to see how much he had affected me.

And to finish it off, the way he had winked at me and suggested going to the bathroom with me with a tone that made it sound so normal was just so… I wasn't even sure what word to call it.

Sighing, I got dressed and started to walk out of the room, the doorknob turned and pulled, and Julie appeared at the other end of the door.

“Hey, Blake. I've missed you.” she started, a small smile on her face.

I smiled with a shake of my head. “Hey, Julia. I've missed you too. I didn't know you arrived already.” I said, in the same enthusiasm she had said hers.

“Oh yes, Nina, mom and I.” she said, simply, but I dropped my mouth open. Julia didn't tell me their mother was coming as well, not that I had a problem with that. I was just surprised, that was all.

“Oh, wow. Okay. I'm glad you all are here then.

Blake’s PovInstead of answering the question, the woman... sorry, Erin, asked Ridge another question. “You don't remember me?” she asked and Ridge frowned. “I don't remember you, lady. If I do, I wouldn't be asking you this question now, would I?” he asked her and she nodded her head with a “that's true” expression on her face. She bit her bottom lip and adjusted the sheet against her shoulder. “Remember your trip to the gathering of packs a couple of years ago?” she asked and Ridge nodded. I was still standing there patiently, waiting for him or her to tell me how they knew each other, but none of them seemed to be getting there anytime soon. “Yes, why?” Ridge asked. “Well, I was there too, and we got talking at the bar, I don't know if you remember.” Erin said, and I looked at Ridge. The room felt like it collectively paused. My stomach dipped… but that was not out of jealousy, not exactly. It was out of unease, of what story that accompany that. Ridge didn’t move. He didn

Blake’s Pov Somewhere around noon, the woman woke up as we all sat down in the living room, and Nabi came to announce it. “Alpha, the woman is now awake.” she said. I jumped to my feet, walking towards her to go to the room before anyone else could react. I didn't even wait for Ridge’s question, but I heard them perfectly. “Oh really? Are you sure?” I could hear the doubt in his voice and that was just silly, because this was great news, and he had no reason to doubt anything. I walked down the hall to the room as I heard the footsteps of others behind me. The air in the hallway felt heavier with every step I took, like it was bracing for whatever was waiting on the other side of the door. My pulse picked up, not from fear exactly, but from anticipation. Answers. That’s what this woman might have. When I reached the door, I didn’t hesitate. I pushed it open and stepped inside. She was sitting up in the bed, her back pressed against the headboard, a blanket draped loosely ov

Ridge’s PovI was jealous of my family, because of how close and free my wife was with around them, but she was still intense with me. Take for instance this morning when I went in to shower and found her in her bra and trousers, she had freaked out, but look at her now, all smiles and laughter. “And stop trying to keep it all in.” I heard my mother say, just as we all sat down, thankfully, she was sitting beside me. “I hear you,” Blake said, picking up the juice jug Nabi just placed on the kitchen table before she left. Quickly, as she was placing it back down, I grabbed it as well, knowingly brushing my hand against hers. I felt her freeze for a second before she recovered and pulled her hand back like something had burned the shit out of her. I leaned in against her with a smile. “What? Did something make you uncomfortable?” I asked and he glanced at me with a frown, probably wondering what I was doing. Well, I was wondering the same thing, especially with all that had been

Ridge’s PovHer cheeks flushed the prettiest shade of pink, and it hit me like a punch to the gut. Not because she was embarrassed; Blake never stayed embarrassed for long, but because that spark was back. The one that lit up her eyes when she wasn’t guarded or annoyed or fighting ghosts in her sleep. I hadn’t seen it much lately. She was always tired from planning her bakery, or distracted about something, smiling with her mouth but not her eyes. Ever since we got to this beach house for our supposed honeymoon, something had been off. And not just because of the half-dead woman I carried in from the woods. Though, yeah, that hadn’t exactly helped as well. I was still waiting on my wife for want me before we made love, but I knew the only reason I was anxious about that was because of the token rule. Normally, I wouldn't care because I knew she had gone through a lot and I would want to give her all the time she needed until she was ready. Blake cleared her throat and stepped ba

Blake’s Pov I woke up to the sound of crashing waves from afar, competing with arguing voices drifting from somewhere downstairs. And then, faint traces of a familiar scent. I blink my eyes opened, my gaze landing on the black velvet box lying on the nightstand, the one that held my wedding ring. I must have removed it last night before I started baking, and I remembered slipping it into my pocket. Right before Ridge showed up with a naked woman in his hands. Okay, I knew I could also describe her in some other type of way than “naked” but no one could blame me now, could they? It had been a week since we got to this beach house, and shit had managed to find me here. That must have been why I had that nightmare again last night, and this time, it was with a touch of drama; with me running through the woods. I wasn't sure if that bloodied woman being here had added that touch, or it was overhearing that it might be about me. Sighing, I rubbed my face, then held my head in
