Chapter 7 Alonso

ALONSO.

I could tell she was uncomfortable before I even get the chance to say what I wanted to say, what do I want to say I'm usually not the one left speechless but today at this very moment I am.

But why did she do that, why did she let me touch her does she consider me to be a husband, or did she do it out of pity? Either way, she shouldn't have done it, or should she have I'm confused.

“Go back to bed, it's nothing.”

She nodded and crawled back under the blanket and drifted off to sleep leaving me awake looking out at the black and white sky, as much as I would rather not admit it having someone laying next to me in bed is a great feeling, even if she was forced to do it.

I turn to look at her and smile, she's a nice person a little weird but nice it's a shame she's stuck by my side, I will have to come up with some sort of plan when the time is right to get her out of this marriage and set her free to live a life she deserves.

The rough winds become subtle, and I slowly drift off to sleep.

Father insisted we have breakfast with him and Mariah this morning and as much as I didn't want to nor did Annabella, I still did because I had a surprise for Mariah that would leave her dumbfounded.

Annabella cooked breakfast seeing that Mariah decided to sleep in and once the table was set, I rolled over to her room which is on the first floor, and said,

“Mother, breakfast is ready.”

She opened the door smiling I smiled back just knowing that stupid grin would soon be wiped away, we're seated, father is talking to me about the pack, and Annabella is quietly listening in.

“Annabella, Can you pass me the butter please.”?

I asked, watching as she slowly stretches her hand across the table next to Mariah’s plate and takes hold of the butter dish, Mariah drops her slice of bread and grabs Annabella’s hand.

“GRACE KELLY,” Mariah shouted

Annabella pulls away and looks at her confused,

“The Wittelsbach Graff diamond ring, that cost billions, you bought for an orphan.”

The smile that's been hiding deep, deep down inside finally curled around my lips. Annabella dropped her fork and looked at me like I'm some sort of crazy person.

“I didn't buy it for an orphan, I bought it for my wife.” I continued eating.

“You have to take it back,” Annabella said,

“I can't there is a no return policy.”

“Ohhh.”

“Keep it safe would you, I wouldn't want it to end up in the wrong hands.”?

My father choked out a little laugh, eyed me, and continued with his vegetable soup, it wasn't my intention to buy Annabella such an expensive ring. But when the jeweler called like he regular those and told me they finally get their hands on a piece worth billions, a piece that Mariah has been talking about non-stop I had to have it.

Father looked at me like I was crazy when I swiped my card, the bank even called me after they blocked the card saying that I haven't used it in a while, and they thought it had been stolen.

They gave me a manual with instructions, and it also has a GPS tracking chip located in the diamond, oh right I forgot the best part.

“If you look closely, Annabella you'd see your name is engraved into the stone.”

I point at it, and she smiles, Mariah slams her plate and storms off to where I don't know, and I don't care.

As we finish up having breakfast the thought of what Mariah might do to Annabella came to mine.

Did I have to do that, did I have to buy such an expensive ring? Yes.

Am I regretting it now, knowing that I just put Annabella in harm's way? Yes

But was it worth it, seeing the look on Mariah's face? It sure as hell was.

I'm cut from my thoughts as I hear something fall to the floor and break, father hurried into the kitchen where Annabella just took the dishes, and I follow along.

Morpheus became angry at what we saw before us.
