(Ivy’s POV)

I just finished sipping some milk, hoping it would help me sleep. I sat down on the chair for a few moments letting the warm milk sink in.

I looked over at my shoulder and what he said earlier…I didn’t think he’d notice my scar. He probably saw it when we spent the night together by the sea after we were attacked by rogues.

Honestly. I don’t know what to think. Things are getting complicated again.

I needed some air. Slowly, I got up and stepped out to the porch. The night was quiet, the kind of silence that almost pressed against your chest. As my eyes wandered, I noticed a figure by the tree.

My brows drew together. It was Jace. He was sitting on a log with a cigarette burning between his fingers.

I frowned and walked over. Since when did he start smoking again? I thought Celina had made him stop.

“What are you doing? If the others see, you’re gonna get scolded.”

He barely flinched at my voice, he just glanced over his shoulder and didn’t seem that surprised to see me.
