The Brothers Mate

Great, just great. I had finally settled down here in France, as much as I could settle while always looking over my shoulder anyway. But she found me again, my fucking mother was here, I spotted her two days ago and I’ve now packed all my belongings and I’m looking up a new place to go and hide. 

She had found where I was now so I decided to call my Aunt, not like she could use it to find my location when she’s already so close. I loved my Aunt and it hurt to keep her so shut out of my life but my mother would hurt her if I tried to keep her in my life. I would never allow that bitch to hurt the few others i have that have shown me any form of love in my petty excuse of a life. 

You may be showcked to hear me talk of my mother that way but trust me, the fact i havesurvived this long is not because of her, its despite having her as a mother. I sometimes wonder what my life could be, if id had a mother who'd cared. If i had been in a family who were normal. Or even if i stood up to her and stopped running, id rather not risk that though.

Anyway, time to hear the voice i miss the most in life.

“Hello?”

“Hi Auntie May, it’s Misha.”

“Misha honey how are you? Why are you calling? Are you safe my darling?”

“Mum turned up in France near where I am. I need somewhere else I can go.”

“Omg, yes you need to get out of there if she’s nearby, she told us she was looking for you in Italy so I’m shocked she’s there! Where were you thinking?”

“I’m not sure, I’m so sick of having to flee every time she gets nearby. Do you have any ideas?”

“Now that you ask, I was sorting paperwork out at the family home a few weeks ago and I saw she has a warrant for her arrest in England. I don’t think she would risk the amount of time in prison she will get if she turns up there. Maybe that’s where you should go?”

“That’s perfect, she won’t be allowed into the country without being arrested! I had no idea she had warrants out on her, if only I’d known! I’ll head there.”

“Ok my darling, I’m glad to hear from you, but don’t tell me where you end up, I just want you safe and to start living your life!”

“I know Auntie May, I’m just sorry I can’t be with you. I love you!”

“I love you too darling, one day I’ll see you I’m sure! You stay safe please, I miss you.”

“I miss you too, I have to go now but thank you for the help!”

“You’re welcome, I’m glad I could help. Get there soon safely. Goodbye darling.”

“Goodbye” and with that I hung up. I now knew where I could go. I just hoped I’d finally be safe and could stop running.

In what felt like no time at all I was on the plane, I knew my nerves would die down when we got into the air. I kept my eye on the plane entrance until the air hostess closed it and we started pulling down the runway. Thank god, I could breathe now. Hopefully my Aunt was right and she wouldn’t risk coming to England, even for me.

I listened to music for the flight and was excited when I arrived, I had never been here before, mainly because of the weather but what’s some rain when I could be safe right? 

I had been researching while waiting for my flight and I had decided I would get off the plane and get a train to Middlesbrough, it was situated near water and had plenty of parks and open spaces, but it also had a museum and I was excited to explore everything it held.

I managed to find a one bedroom house for sale and having just sold my flat in France I had enough to get it and still have some money to live on while I find work again. The estate agent was surprised at how fast I wanted to move in but as it was empty and I was paying in full with no mortgage they rushed all the paperwork to accommodate me. They also allowed me to order a bed to the property and they went and accepted it for me so I would have somewhere to sleep tonight! 

I left the airport and walked to the train station, here I go, 4 hours on a stuffy train. At least I would be going straight to my new hone and settling down. Safe. Maybe not for long but still safe for now!
