LOGINWhen I heard her response, I looked at the seat they were sitting on and of course, he was gone and he sent this bitch to do his work for him. I must say I’m glad he found someone else to fill in for him but he really had bad taste for sending her to me. I stood up and she smiled, “good girl, now follow me,” she turned and that was when I saw two other girls with her.
“Why do I need to follow the ugly duckling?” I saw her stop immediately and if it was action movies, they are going to play the sound of a plane taking off to match with her expression, “I don’t look like a duck do I?”
“What did you just say?” She turned to ask.
“Perhaps the ugly duckling is not only ugly but also dumb?” I raised an eyebrow.
She laughed, “I think I underestimated you, do you have any idea who I am?”
“If worse comes to worse, you will be the captain of the cheerleading team, there is nothing new there.”
“You are smart, at least you answered correctly but you also missed something else, I am the school bea and everybody respects me and what’s more? I’m also the girlfriend of the school beau, so the least you can do is be happy that I’m even talking to you which I wouldn’t have done if not that he begged me to,” she announced, flying her hair side to side as she spoke. So typical.
I rolled my eyes, “fine, thank you for the introduction and to free you from your supposed work, I don’t need touring, I can manage very well on my own, so thanks no thanks.”
She laughed again along with her girls, “Could it be that you are like this because Adrian isn’t the one to guide you? I’m sure you must have been imagining how to drool on him but too bad,” she took a step closer, “you know what, I’m going to let today pass because, one, you are new and two, you don’t know he is mine. Now that you do, don’t you dare have any ideas, you can spy on him from afar and day dream about him which after all, that’s all you would be doing, but when you try to talk to him, you are going to answer to me, ask your loser of a friend how I work,” she pointed at Christy who only bowed her head and she left with her friends.
“What the hell is that all about?” I asked no one in particular.
“That’s Stacy Wood, like you said, she is the captain and is the only girl that can approach Adrian. Her father owns the biggest car wash in town and also, the principal is her uncle,” Christy filled in.
I nodded in understanding, “I see, so she is really this Adrian guy girlfriend?”
“Actually, nobody can tell. Adrian has never told anyone that she is his girlfriend and neither had he denied whenever she claimed to be.”
“He doesn’t let any other girl approach him?”
“Not really, Stacy is the one who prohibits girls from approaching him. Adrian on the other hand talks to whoever he wants and sometimes he would even invite himself to any girl’s table and have lunch with her, but the end part is always scary.”
“Why is that?”
“Because Stacy will fight the girl, mostly beating her up. The last girl he did that to, she made her drink from the toilet with everybody watching. Her friend, Arianna, made a video and uploaded it on the school website, which means everybody, including the teachers got to watch it. She was later summoned to the principal’s office but just like everybody expected, nothing serious happened, she was just told to apologize to the girl and that was the end.”
“Hmm, because her uncle is the principal?”
“Exactly, ever since then, no girl no matter how much they are crushing on Adrian allows him to sit with her. They mostly just get up and leave the table for him,” Christy added.
“Then what did Adrian do, you know, about that other girl.”
“Nothing, he didn’t even talk to Stacy about it or even approached the girl again. Though the girl claimed that he apologized to her but no one believed her because Adrian didn’t bother to agree to it when he was asked by Stacy in front of everyone.”
“I see, he is even worse than I thought,” I implied.
“And also dreamy,” I heard her whisper in infatuation and I rolled my eyes, “and to add more to it, he is the school’s bad boy.”
“And you like him because of that?”
“Who doesn’t like a bad boy?” She asked me.
“I don’t,” I answered, “I prefer putting them in their place.”
“Like you did Kevin? You know he is going to get back at you for that.”
“When he does, I will be waiting.”
“Oh, I know I like you,” she beamed, “do you think we can be friends?”
“I don’t see why not,” I smiled.
“Oh thank you thank you thank you,” she hugged my arm, hopping up and down, “what class do you have next?”
“English.”
“Me too,” she shrieked, “but we need to hurry though, Mrs. Meyers don’t like latecomers.” Grabbing my arm, she pulled me with her into a run.
The next day, I couldn’t wait to get to school, more like I couldn’t wait to see Adrian, I had made up my mind last night to tell him today that I love him, yes, I love him and I was going to do so today, immediately I saw him. But what I wasn’t prepared for was what I saw in school, Adrian didn’t come to school. It hurts having your enthusiasm killed like that but I finally consoled myself to tell him tomorrow but he didn’t show up in school too and I didn’t see him for five days straight, including the weekend. That has never happened before and I was getting pretty worried, on Tuesday, I couldn’t take it anymore so on my way home, I dialed his number, wishing for him to answer. He did and my heart heaved a deep sigh of relief, “someone decided to call me,” his cool voice sipped into my ear and I let it travel through my whole being, I have missed him, a lot.“I just want to find out if you are dead or alive.”He chuckled, “have you missed me?”“No,” I rushed to say but then sighed,
“Penny for your thought?” I asked Adrian, he just smiled and shook his head softly. I wanted so badly for him to tell me not to mind what Stacy said, not to listen to her and that he would never do such a thing to me but he didn’t, he didn’t even bring it up. I had to calm my racing heart internally, maybe he felt there was no need to since he won’t be doing it. Maybe he believes that showing me his true intention would be better than exchanging words with girls. Ah I have lost it, now I’m finding excuses for him.“Earth to pigeon,” he whispered.I forced a smile, “I should be saying that to you.”“Really? You are the one who didn’t hear what I said to you just now.”“You said earth to pigeon.”He shook his head and smiled, “before that.”I frowned, I didn’t hear anything else before that, “what is it?”“I asked how would you feel about going for a walk?”“Oh,” I smiled, “I would love to.”Adrian took my hand and led me out of the gymnasium, we walked in the direction of the school fi
I turned sharply to Christy, “now don’t you dare tell me that its a lie because I can see it in the way you look at him. Half the girls if not all the girls in this school looks at him that way.”I heaved a sigh, Christy is my BFF, she wasn’t happy with me after she found out that Adrian had been coming to my room but I never told her, I finally got her to forgive me and now, I don’t think I want to hide anything from her again. Plus, she is the only one I could talk about this stuff with, “is it that obvious?”“Well, if you keep looking at him like that.”“Looking at him like how?”“Like he is the only guy in this room, like you only live for him and all your dressing tonight is just for him and you want him to have his eyes only on you. Girl, been there, done that. But listen, I’m going to start my pep talk again, now this is an advice someone dear has given to me, I know I’m not that kind of a girl but you are Molly, you don’t take shit from anybody and you put whoever that messes
I can’t wait to show you off! Did you hear that? He can’t wait to show us off! My subconscious rambled in my mind, technically, he said he can’t wait to show me off, not us. I corrected her and she rolled her eyes at me, duh? I’m you, remember? Oh yeah, that is correct, I often forget that since she often challenges my thought like another human.“Penny for your thought?” Adrian asked and I glanced at him, our eyes met briefly and he returned his to the road.“Nothing much, I’m just,” I sighed, “nervous, I guess.”“Nervous? Why Pigeon, whatever in the world that would be making you nervous.”“Mostly because this is the first time I’m going to a school dance?” I felt his gaze on me and I looked at him.“What happened, no guy ever asked you?”“That should be I never gave them the chance to. I tend to chase them away before they could even get close to me,” I heaved a sigh, licking my lips.Adrian nodded, his gaze still on the road. I could see the school coming into view. “Still have th
I put on the last pin on my hair and looked at myself in the mirror, I look beautiful, I know, my brown eyes are clear like a chocolate fondue, speaking from Adrian’s term. I loved that comparison, well, mostly because he was the one that made it. I had gone to my parents room and took my mother’s jewelry, it was silver and sparkles in the light, just like my shoes and my dress. I applied my lip gloss which made my lips glow, then I stood up and looked at myself full length in the mirror, I hardly take time to dress myself like this but I know, I just want to be beautiful tonight, I hope I succeed.A knock on my door made me look behind, “yes?” I called and Max entered.“Whoa sis, you look…” he looked from my dress to my shoes then up to my face, “breathtaking.”I smiled at his compliment, gulping, I licked my lips and got the sweet taste of my lip gloss, “you think?”“Of course,” he insisted, “if I was the one going out with you, I would be afraid of you being snatched away from me.”
In the box in my hand was a pair of silver shoes, I looked up at him in shock and he scratched his head. “I wanted to give you something as a thank you for agreeing to go with me to the dance, even though we had a deal that I will leave you alone for seven days,” he rolled his eyes, and that made me chuckle. “but when I saw this on Saturday night, I only thought of you so I got it. I wanted to give it to you on Sunday but I didn’t know how you are going to react so I said on Monday but ended up saying today. I would have postponed it again if not that tomorrow is the dance and I really want you to wear it to the dance,” he licked his lips, “do you like it?”I looked down at the beautiful shoes, I couldn’t believe my eyes, I brought one half out and looked at it, it glistened with the light and reminded me of the sparkles on my dress, it would go well with it. Something on the heel brought my eyes to it and it was a logo I know all too well, a logo that I know he was obsessed with, Lou
“Ms. Davis, may I know the reason you have chosen to disturb the class?” Mrs. Meyers asked.“Um…” I looked around and everyone was looking at me, even Christy was looking at me with worry, “I’m sorry Mrs. Meyers, it won’t happen again.”“It better not or there will be consequences and please, mind
The time to leave finally arrived and as I expected, Christy woke me up and we loosed our tents. Nobody was actually happy leaving but there was nothing we could do, the principal has spoken and we could only obey.Getting to the bus, I walked straight to the back seat and sat down, pushing my back
As you all know, I was woken up in the morning just when I was starting to enjoy my sleep. I got up and hand combed my hair before walking outside. The sun was so bright that I had to close my eyes and open it slowly to adapt to the brightness, courtesy of sleeping late. I met Christy coming out of
Somehow, I don’t know how, but I had managed to push Adrian away, he looked at me, his eyes locked on mine, I gulped and closed my eyes, “hey,” he called to me but I said nothing and rather, I turned and started walking to the shore. “Pigeon,” he grabbed my hand to stop me but I shrugged off and co
