ELISHA POV

I knelt in front of my parents' graves, gently tracing my fingers over their names carved into the marble.

Three days. It had only been three days. Yet it already felt like an eternity since I last heard their voices.

"Mom... Dad..." I whispered, forcing a smile despite the tears filling my eyes. "I don't know how to start over."

A lump formed in my throat. "I've always had the two of you beside me. Every dream I had... every plan... you were part of all of them."

My voice trembled. "Now I'm standing here alone."

The wind gently brushed against my face, as if answering me. "I wasn't ready."

I laughed weakly through my tears. "You didn't even leave me instructions on how to survive without you."

Silence answered me.

"I know you're probably worried about me."

I wiped away my tears. "So don't. I'll cry today."m I'll cry tomorrow. And maybe for a long time after that. But I promise..." I looked at their gravestones. "I'll protect everything you worked so hard to build. I won't let your sacrifices go to waste. I'll continue living."

"Not because it's easy... But because both of you would've wanted me to."

I smiled through my tears. "So... please keep watching over me."

"And if I make a terrible decision..." I laughed softly. "Just visit me in my dreams and scold me."

"I love you. I always will. Until we meet again.

Behind me, I heard footsteps.

"Eli..."

I slowly turned around.
It was Uncle Lucas.

He gave me a sad smile before standing beside me. "They're very proud of you."

I lowered my head. "I don't feel strong." I said honestly.

"You don't have to. You all have the rights go cry, to be in pain, to mourn."

He placed a hand on my shoulder. "Being strong doesn't mean you stop crying. It means you keep moving even while you're crying."

I bit my lip. "What if I can't?"

"I believe in you. I know you can do it because they raised you."

Fresh tears rolled down my cheeks. "I keep thinking... what if I had gone home earlier? What if I had called them? What if I had been there? What if they were still alive?"

Uncle Lucas gently shook his head.

"You cannot blame yourself for something you couldn't control. If it's time for them to go, you can't stop it."

"But—"

"No."
His voice was calm but firm. "If your parents were here, do you think they'd want you to carry that guilt for the rest of your life?"

I slowly shook my head.

"They loved you more than anything. They wouldn't want their daughter to spend her life blaming herself."

I finally broke down.

He pulled me into a comforting embrace.

"Cry. You don't have to be brave today."

---

We left the cemetery just before sunset.

Before getting into the car, I turned around one last time.

"I'll come back. I promise."

---

Inside the car the silence was l unbearable.

I closed my eyes.

Mom laughing in the passenger seat. Dad singing terribly while driving.

I smiled then cried again.

YANA POV

I quietly watched Eli from the passenger seat.
She had her eyes closed, but tears continued to fall one after another.

She wasn't making a sound and that's hurt even more.

Since Uncle and Aunt passed away. She hadn't been the same.

Elisha wasn't just my best friend. She was the sister I never had.

Watching someone so cheerful slowly lose her light. It was heartbreaking.

I reached for her hand. "Eli."

She slowly opened her eyes. "Hm?"

"If you ever feel like the world is too heavy... don't carry it alone."

She looked at me silently.

"You still have me. You still have a family. And no matter how many times you break down. I'll always help you stand up again."

A faint smile appeared on her lips. "Thank you."

I squeezed her hand. "I'll remind you of that every day until you finally believe it."

For the first time since the funeral. She smiled.

And I silently prayed that one day that smile would become genuine again.

I don't want to see her in so much pain. She's all I have and it hurts me big time seeing her at this state.

ELISHA POVThe room was located on the highest floor overlooking the beach.Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the ocean. A spacious living room sat in the center. It has also two separate hallways branched off in opposite directions.Caden handed me the card keys to the room, and I immediately accepted them."Thank you." I said with a smile and excused myself to arrange my things."Take your time." He said softly. When I entered the room, it was spacious. I placed my suitcase beside the table and walked toward the curtain and pulled it aside.A beautiful view greeted me. From where I was, I could clearly see the blue ocean and white sand. For the first time in weeks everything felt peaceful.I couldn't help but smile. Maybe this business trip wouldn't be that stressful after all.I only arranged my things for a while and immediately changed into comfortable clothes. After that, I went out and headed to the living room where my boss was.His brows were furrowed as he seriously focuse

ELISHA POVNearly two hours later, the driver suddenly spoke.“Sir.”“Hm?”“We’re approaching the first stop.”Caden slowly opened his eyes.I looked outside. Rows of coconut trees welcomed us. The sea stretched endlessly toward the horizon.“It’s beautiful,” I whispered.“The client chose the right location,” Caden said. The SUV entered the resort property, and several project engineers immediately greeted us.“Good morning, Mr. Guevarra,” they greeted when we got out.“Morning,” my boss answered briefly. They turned toward me. “You must be Miss Elisha.”I nodded. “Good morning.”One of the engineers laughed. “We’ve heard a lot about you.”“About me?” I even pointed at myself.“Mr. Guevarra said that he already has a secretary who keeps him organized.”I slowly looked toward Sir Caden. He simply continued walking as though he hadn’t heard anything. The site inspection lasted almost three hours.Construction workers moved from one building to another while engineers discussed schedule

ELISHA POVThe rain grew even heavier by the time I reached my condo. Good thing I agreed to ride with Caden because if I hadn't, I might still be at the company right now with no way to get home.As soon as I got out, he immediately said goodbye and left because his friends were waiting for him, and it seemed like they had something planned. My phone suddenly rang, and I saw that Yana was calling.“Hello, bestie!”“You sound happy,” I said.“Duh! I’m always energetic, unlike you.”“If you say so. Why did you call?” I asked.I heard her let out a deep sigh. “I just wanted to check on you. If I didn’t have so many pending tasks at work, I would visit you.”I laughed. “What are you talking about? Don’t worry because I’m okay. Besides, work should be our priority.”“Am I hearing this correctly? That doesn’t sound like what you said during your first few weeks at work.”I rolled my eyes. “That was normal during the first few days,” I insisted.“I’m still worried about you. I know what you

ELISHA POVThe next morning, I arrived at Guevarra Corporation around 7:30 A.M., and I noticed that the lights in Sir Caden's office were already on."He's here this early again. Did he even go home?" I whispered to myself.I simply placed my bag on my chair before making a cup of coffee and walking into his office."Good morning, Sir."He didn't look up immediately. Instead, he finished typing something on his laptop before closing it."Morning." His eyes landed on me. "You look tired.""You're one to talk. You need some rest too, Sir," I said with a small laugh as I placed his coffee on his desk."Hmm. Do you think so?"I nodded."You've been going home past midnight for weeks now, Sir. Sometimes I even find you here again the next morning, so I'm pretty sure you never went home. The company isn't going anywhere if you take a break. It'll be much worse if you get sick," I said.He didn't respond. He simply kept looking at me.I suddenly felt embarrassed and cleared my throat."Anywa

ELISHA POVOver the past few days, my life had become even busier and more stressful, not only because of work, but also because of what I was truly feeling.I kept telling myself over and over that maybe I was just confused, that maybe as the days passed, this strange feeling I had for Caden would eventually disappear.Maybe I was only admiring him.Maybe it was because we spent almost every day together.Maybe it was just a passing feeling.Unfortunately, every little thing he did only made it worse."Miss Elisha."I paused in what I was doing when I heard my boss's voice and immediately looked at him."Yes, Sir?""I need the Rivera Holdings proposal," he said."I already prepared it." I stood up and handed him the folder."I wasn't finished speaking.""I know, Sir," I replied."Do you know exactly which one I want and what I'm asking for?"I chuckled. "It's already scheduled for your ten o'clock meeting, Sir."I saw him shake his head before opening the folder."Good."After saying

ELISHA POVAs usual, I arrived at the company early.I immediately organized Caden's schedule, prepared the documents he needed, checked his emails, and then made him a fresh cup of coffee before walking into his office."You've gotten faster."I jumped slightly when I suddenly heard a voice beside me."Good morning, Sir. I didn't know you were already here.""I need to finish something before the meeting. Did you finish today's reports?""Yes.""What about tomorrow's meeting agenda?""I finished it before I went home yesterday."His eyebrow lifted slightly."You've become unusually efficient."I smiled proudly."I'll take that as a compliment, Sir.""It wasn't.""It sounded like one.""You really only hear what you want to hear."I laughed hearing what he said.---At around 11:00am I noticed that everyone had suddenly become busy.Everyone was rushing preparing some presentations, financial reports, and even contracts."What is happening?" I asked Queen."The meeting that was suppos
