Handsome Enough?

In front of me was the guy whose car I had damaged. He was dressed just like the previous day, in an expensive suit only now he wasn't wearing sunglasses. He looked so at home, almost as if he owned the place.

A surge of panic shot through me as I remembered the fake phone number I had given him. Instinctively, I hid behind a nearby wall, I prayed silently that he hadn't seen me.

"What are you doing here?" a voice suddenly exclaimed, catching me off guard. My shock intensified when I realized that it was the very same man I was trying to hide from

"I work here" I started composing myself

His blue eyes scrutinized me from head to toe "You don't work here. I know all the staff"

I shifted away from him

"Well maybe you don't know everyone"

"I do know everyone. So who exactly are you?" His eyes once again ravaged my body, making me feel uncomfortable

"I'm new. It's my first day" I finally said

He nodded his head and then a glint appeared in his eyes like he had just remembered something

"Oh okay.. The number you gave to me, I'm sure it must have been a mistake.. I tried calling it and it didn't connect"

Oh shit! He had called the number. I had to say something…

"I'm running a bit late, and it's my first day. How about we discuss this later? Thank you," I said, attempting to walk away from the uncomfortable situation. But before I could make my escape, his hand grabbed mine sending a spark through my bones and preventing me from moving away

His voice sounded colder than usual

"You gave me the wrong number on purpose, didn't you?" he accused, his grip tightening slightly.

Panic flooded my eyes as I tried to free myself from his grasp. "Of course not. I really have to go now. We can talk about this later," I pleaded, desperately peeling his hand off mine and swiftly walking away.

As I hurriedly made my way towards the office I had been directed to, I couldn't shake off the nagging thought that if that guy was indeed a worker there, how could he afford such an extravagantly expensive car? Pushing the question aside, I made my way to the receptionist.

"Hi I'm Nora Roberts, I was told to resume today" I said to the beautiful blonde lady who looked nice.

She returned my smile and searched through some files as she spoke

"Oh you're the new Personal Assistant to Mr Nathaniel Lockhart"

So that's his name, I've never really paid attention to the owner, I've just loved the company.

As the receptionist spoke again, I pulled out of my thoughts "The boss has been waiting for you, follow me"

"Okay"

She led me up the stairs and to the front of a door

"Here we are, just go in he has been expecting you"

I looked at the door and back at her

"Should I knock first?"

"There's no need for that, just go in and introduce yourself"

"Okay thank you"

"Let me know if you need anything"

I smiled lightly at her and nodded my head in appreciation. At least someone who worked here was nice. I hoped that the boss would also be nice. She told me not to knock, what if he was in the middle of something and I just walk in. Well she said not to knock So I guess, I'm not knocking.

Taking in a deep breath, I turned the doorknob and opened the door.

"Well well, we meet again" a familiar voice said. I looked up and it was the guy whose car I hit. Wait a minute, if he was sitting in that seat in this office that only meant that

"You. You're the boss?" I ask with a raised voice and a pointed finger

He looked genuinely shocked at my shock

"Why do you sound so surprised? Aren't I handsome enough?" He asked raising his perfectly sculpted chin

I rolled my eyes and folded my arms

"I don't think being handsome is a qualification for being a boss"

Placing a hand on his desk, the semi jovial look he had on, dissipates and his stoic expression returns

"You should keep it in mind that I am your boss. Considering everything you've done so far, damaging my car, giving me a wrong number and destroying my good shirt last night. I have so many reasons to fire you right this moment"

It finally dawned on me that I could lose the job I needed. Dream or no dream. I needed a job to pay my bills.

"Mr Lockhart. I am very sorry for everything" I begged with my hands joined in a plea

He looked pleased at my demeanor

"What are you going to do to fix it?" He asked with a little smirk

I wanted nothing more than to wipe the stupid smirk off his face

"I can't afford to fix the damages to your car but I can pay you back by being a wonderful personal assistant to you sir"

"That's not enough" He immediately said

"I'll do anything. Please I really need this job"

He looked pleased at my words

"That's more like it. We shall continue this discussion later, for now, I need you to fetch me a cup of coffee"

"Does that mean I'm not fired?" I asked

"Are you retarded? Would I ask you to fetch me a cup of coffee if you weren't my assistant?"

I had only asked a question, he didn't have to make me feel dumb.

I bowed my head

"Thank you sir. You will not regret this"

"I already do" He murmured but loud enough for me to hear

Minutes later, I returned with a cup of coffee in hand.

"Here's your coffee sir"

He collected it and dropped it on his desk.

"For now, you can go and sit with the receptionist. Learn all you need to from her, she was my assistant at some point

Tomorrow there'll be provision for you in this office" he stated and took a sip from the coffee, his eyes lit up as he tasted it, it was almost as if he was surprised that it tasted good but wait what had he just said

"I'll be staying in here with you?" I asked

He shook his head

"No you'll be staying in here with another handsome boss…. "of course you'll be staying in here with me. Do you get a perk from asking dumb questions?"

"I'm sorry sir"

"You better be. Now leave"

I hated his attitude but I couldn't do anything about it. He was my boss and I owed him for the car, so even though I wanted to walk closer to him and pour coffee on his head, I gently bowed my head in respect and left his office.

Luckily the receptionist who introduced herself as Laura, was very nice. She explained everything I needed to know, gave me the needed documents and put me through with a kind voice despite my questions.

Finally it was six and I could go home. As soon as I was at home, I took a quick shower and changed into some comfortable clothes. I was about to put on my television when I heard a knock on the door.

The only people who visited me by this time w

ere my friends and they were both busy with work so who could it be?

I flinched as the person knocked again …
