Alex’s pov

I closed the gap between us, this time refusing for him to move away as I held his hands tightly in mine.

“I’m sorry,” I said in a genuine manner. “I really am. I was a douchebag. I was an ass. I was an idiot. I was stupid.”

I looked over the railing, thinking of what next to say, but I shook my head.

“I have no excuse for how I acted towards you, Dennis. None at all. There’s no excuse in this world that would excuse my actions. But I am begging you, please take into consideration that I don’t want to lose you. And I really am sorry for what I did today.”

We stayed staring at each other for a while before his tears came even more. Then he flung himself into my arms.

I held him close, feeling him wracking up with tears in my chest. I placed a hand on his back and placed another on his head, pulling him into me, closing my eyes to live the moment with him.

This was what my mother was talking about.

“I don’t know what to do,” he sniffed. “My mother, she might die.”

I hushed hi

Sophia’s povI called for a meeting as my reporters, who I keep on the payroll, appeared and I looked at all of them with very narrow eyes. I was pissed. I was hungry for news and they were not giving me what I wanted. I folded my arms and I frowned.“I’ve been waiting here for something. Anything that you can give me and I haven’t seen anything. Right now I am both pissed and I am angry and I am wishing you guys can at least come up with some sort of story that would turn this whole thing to a favor for me.”They all exchanged looks before turning to me.“Ms. Sophia, we are trying our best, but at this moment in time we need to verify the sources. We’ve already thrown what we can out there. The wolves are snatching, the sharks are out there biting, and major news apart from our own companies have picked them up, but we still need more things to throw out there. The pregnancy stuff was supposed to be the final battle. We can’t just let this go. We are very close to destroying whatever

Alex’s povHe looked at me in shock for a minute before he recovered and frowned.“My office, now,” he said through gritted teeth, as I gave him a deep sigh and followed him to his office. We soon got into his office as he slammed the door behind him and turned to me. “What the fuck is your problem, Alex? Why are you here?”“Good morning father,” I smiled. “Great to see you. Hope you had a wonderful night last night after what you did to my husband.”He scoffed. “Oh please. I didn’t do anything. I just wanted to talk after hearing that news and then I bumped into Dennis. How was I supposed to know you wouldn’t be home?”“There’s this thing called calling? You should try it sometime.”We stared at each other for a while before he walked to the bar by the corner to fix himself a drink. He finished within seconds and then he downed it as he looked at me with a sigh.“You know I’ve done everything I can for you. I’ve called lawyers. I have called witnesses. I have called the media. I have

Alex’s povI got into the boardroom that morning to see only Paul standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows. He turned to see me as he frowned.“I heard there is a board meeting today,” I said to him as he stared at me for a while before chuckling, then removing his hands from his pockets to rub them together like the greedy fool he was.“You’re not supposed to be here Alex. You know that.”“It’s my father’s company,” i blurred out. “I can be wherever I want.”“Well, with the way you’re running it, might as well be the company of fools. Because from where I’m standing, you have single-handedly destroyed your father’s legacy.”I scoffed. “I didn’t destroy anything. I had a moment of weakness, and sure, some of the things that I have done, it might be disturbing, but I wouldn’t call it a moment of destruction or say that I’ve destroyed my father’s company. It’s still intact, it’s still growing.”He nodded while looking away from me. “You have a tendency of destroying whatever comes to yo

Alex’s pov“Look, whatever happened in the past, I apologize for it. But you can’t keep holding on to that. I’ve gone through my own fair share of shit, you know that.”He stared at me for a while, in a wordless way, shaking his head from side to side like he wasn’t believing that I was before him, saying all the shit I was saying.“You used to be a prick,” he said.I chuckled with him. “Yes, I have gotten that a lot of times from my husband.”“I’m sure he sees you as somebody who needs help.”I stared at him for a while, thinking of what to say. Before it hit me, I would just tell him the truth. I leaned forward in my seat.“Dennis has helped me understand my flaws. He has helped me see a different light to all I used to do in the past. He has helped me know that the things that I used to do, I don’t need to do them anymore. And I’ve come to realize that I’ve been the problem. I used to be the problem. I used to go out with different ladies, used to treat people however I wanted beca

Alex’s povI drove to the restaurant where Mark should be. When I got in, I saw him seated there alone, eating. It was the family restaurant… his family’s restaurant. They had been using this place to make a living for years, sometimes illegal without them knowing, but due to Mark’s association with powerful people like me, well, let’s just say we had him covered. He was out of the police radar. None of them would ever do anything to come close to this place, knowing they would be dealing with we billionaires… especially me.I was the one who kept the cops on my payroll to make sure that Mark was still indebted to me. I could remember the last time we spoke… it was when he had almost been arrested. They had found so much evidence to put him behind bars for more than twenty years, but due to my connections with the force and the media, I spun the narrative. I made him look like the hero instead of the villain, and he got off with community service. So now, he was serving that communit

Alex’s pov“Are you okay?” he asked me, as I scoffed.“Well, I’ve been kicked off the board and possibly the company. And I don’t even know what to do next, because everything is going to shit.”He shook his head. “I’m so sorry.”I stared at him for a while before slowly walking towards him to stand before him. “Dennis, why didn’t you tell me? You could have easily told me all of this a long time ago… about the blackmails that Lydia was doing to you. You could have told me this. Now my entire life has been ruined.”He looked to the floor with a sad look on his face as he took in deep breaths. He looked sorry, but that wasn’t going to fix anything for me.“I’m sorry,” he said, holding my hands in his, but I removed them.“No. Sorry isn’t going to fix this.” “So what? You’re just going to leave me out to dry?”I shrugged. “I don’t know. I have no idea what I am going to do anymore. Because of you, everything that I have is ruined. Because of you, my parents see me as a screw-up. Thank
