Author’s POV

Standing from the bed, Samantha heaved a sigh and traipsed over to the closet. She dragged out her box and grabbed some wears from it. She examined the selected wears and chose the ones in black alongside a mask.

Samantha returned the box and proceeded to dress up.

“I shouldn’t care but here I am.” She mumbled as she fixed the straps of the mask.

Ready in her black attire, she went back to her bed to pick up her phone and a revolver. Samantha checked

  • The CEO's Bodyguard   Chapter 59

Samantha’s POVThe rest of the weekend slipped by more quickly than I expected. But, over the weekend, my guys worked overtime to divert what was planned for the west wing. That should signal the end of issues at that end, or so I thought. In Ryan’s house, Olivia had somehow claimed every corner of the house as her territory. Her laughter lingered long after each moment passed, and her presence filled spaces that had once felt too large and quiet. Even the walls seemed to echo differently now, softer somehow.I stood by the kitchen counter on Sunday evening, sipping on my coffee and watching her drag one of Ryan’s ties across the floor like it was some kind of prized ribbon. She giggled, completely unbothered, while Ryan leaned against the doorway, arms folded, watching her with a patience I hadn’t known he possessed until Olivia came.“You’re going to ruin that,” he said, though there was no real warning in his tone.“It’s pretty,” Olivia replied, holding it up with both hands. “And

  • The CEO's Bodyguard   Chapter 58

Samantha’s POVI slipped back into the kitchen quietly, letting the sounds in the house wash over me; the faint clink of utensils, Olivia’s laughter, Ryan’s soft chuckles. The warmth of the space was contrasting, and in fact, very sharply, with the cold thread of unease threading through my thoughts. Every movement, every glance, reminded me that someone was orchestrating something, watching, waiting.Olivia, oblivious to the tension I carried, ran across the room, trailing her small fingers along the edge of the counter, giggling at some imaginary drama only she understood. Ryan bent slightly, catching her by the waist, his laughter soft and low.I paused, watching the way his eyes softened when they met hers, the gentle tilt of his head, the slight curve of his lips that seemed reserved for her alone. It was disarming. Even the light in his eyes, the kind reserved for moments untouched by duty or threat, carried a weight that made my chest tighten.“You almost toppled the whole stac

  • The CEO's Bodyguard   Chapter 57

Samantha’s POVThe weekend arrived quieter and earlier than expected.I had already been up for a while, seated at the dining table with my laptop open, reviewing the work reports David had sent in overnight. I might not be physically at the company, but I closely monitor the activities. The house was still, the kind of calm that usually came before something shifted. Then the doorbell rang. I paused, my fingers hovering over the keyboard.Ryan was already moving from the living room. I heard the door open, followed by a burst of energy that didn’t belong to the silence the house had been wrapped in.“RRA!”A small figure rushed in before I even stood up.Olivia.She ran straight past Ryan, her tiny shoes tapping rapidly against the floor as her eyes scanned the room with excitement. The moment they landed on me, her entire face lit up.“It’s you!” she squealed. Before I could react, she had already closed the distance and wrapped her arms around me.I stiffened instinctively. It last

  • The CEO's Bodyguard   Chapter 56

Samantha’s POVMy conversation with Adrian was easier than I expected, and I guess that was for a good cause. His warning stayed with me though, lingering in the quiet spaces of my thoughts long after I left his office, the weight of it settling in a way I could not quite ignore. He knew me too well and just had to let out that caution, slipping it into the conversation like something casual, yet it held more meaning than he allowed it show. A small smile tugged at my lips in subtle appreciation of his care, the kind that came uninvited but stayed anyway. It was obvious in our interaction that he still cared a great deal about me, as much as he tried to hide it, and I could see it in the pauses, in the way his voice softened without permission. And, for that I was grateful to know he still looked out for me, regardless of how I ended things.I let out a small sigh as I dropped my phone on the couch and headed for the kitchen, the quiet of the house settling around me as I moved. I wan

Adrian’s POV“The problem is that it’s convincing.”The words stayed in the space between us longer than either of us moved to break.I leaned forward slightly, resting my forearms against the desk, my eyes still fixed on her. “Convincing enough for who?”“For anyone who doesn’t know you,” she replied.“And you do?”She didn’t answer immediately. That, in itself, was an answer.“I know how you think,” she said finally. “This isn’t you.”A faint smile touched my lips, though there was no humor in it. “That sounds like trust.”“It’s not trust,” she corrected. “It’s pattern recognition.”I studied her for a moment, then nodded slowly. “Fair enough.”Silence settled again, but it wasn’t empty. It carried weight, thought, and calculation.“What exactly have you seen?” I asked. She stepped closer this time, closing the distance between us just enough to shift the dynamic of the room. Her hand moved to the desk, placing her phone down before sliding it toward me.“Look.”I picked it up.File

Adrian’s POV“Thank you, Mr Leigh.” The client I had a meeting with said and forwarded his hand for a shake. I met it halfway with a slight smile.“We look forward to doing business with you.”The man nodded, satisfied with the outcome of the meeting. He turned, his team following closely behind as they prepared to leave.Alex held the door open for them, stepping aside before falling in behind me. I walked with them toward the elevator, my pace unhurried, my thoughts already shifting to the next thing waiting on my desk.“Have an amazing day, Mr Leigh,” the man added as they stepped into the elevator.I gave a brief nod and watched as the doors slid shut. The moment they closed, I turned toward my office. Alex followed. My hands slipped into my pockets as I walked down the corridor, my expression calm, my mind already organizing the rest of the day. Then I stopped.Someone was seated at my secretary’s desk.“You’ve gotten someone?” I asked.“Yes, sir,” Alex replied.I gave a small no

Samantha’s POVI stood to my feet in a hurry and my hand has instinctively flown to my side purse where my revolver was. I moved away from the VIP section and went back to the general area. Everywhere has suddenly become deserted and I wondered when they all had the time to leave.

Samantha’s POVI should have felt nothing.I had trained myself for this—to be unreadable, untouchable, immune to the chaos of emotions. But as I stared at the engagement ring on my finger, something inside me shifted. It wasn’t the ring itself. Not the weight of the metal or the way the diamond ca
