ETHAN’S POV

The building was almost empty when Caleb arrived.

The executive floor lights were dimmed to night mode, only a few offices still glowing. I stood by the window of my office, staring down at the city without really seeing it. Sophia’s words kept re-echoing in my head.

I had called Caleb an hour earlier with no explanation. Just a request. He hadn’t asked questions.

The door opened quietly.

“You look like someone who hasn’t slept,” Caleb said as he stepped inside, closing the door be

ETHAN’S POVThe front doors opened again.A tall man stepped inside wearing a gray suit. Silver hair. Late fifties perhaps. Calm presence. His eyes scanned the almost empty hall until they fell on Isabella then his face broke into a warm smile.Laurent Beaumont.I recognized him from the photos my investigator had sent weeks ago. He walked towards Isabella. Isabella’s face transformed when she saw him. It was the first genuine warmth I had seen from her all evening.“Laurent.”She walked toward him quickly.“Isabella.”They embraced. It was brief but genuine. When they stepped apart the man held her shoulders and looked at her carefully.“You look exactly like your mother.”Isabella smiled softly.Lucia approached them.“Monsieur Beaumont, Welcome.”“I'm sorry I'm late.” “We are honored you could come.” Lucia answered Laurent nodded politely. His attention returned to Isabella. He looked at her with obvious affection “You have built something remarkable here.”“Thank you. That m

ISABELLA’S POVThe launch was scheduled for seven PM. I arrived at the ISMARA building at noon.Five hours to make sure nothing went wrong.Lucia met me at the entrance and immediately frowned.“You look terrible.”“Good morning to you too.”I walked into the showroom. “Status update?”She followed beside me with her tablet.“Catering is ready. Bar fully stocked. DJ confirmed. Press list finalized. Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, and about forty other publications.”“Influencers?”“Twenty confirmed. Three have over five million followers.”“Investors?”“Laurent Beaumont confirmed. The Milan group is coming. A few of Moretti board members will be present. Marcus Moretti also.”I stopped.“Marcus is coming?”“Yes.”A small sense of relief settled inside me.“Good,” I said quietly. The next few hours passed in a constant rush of last-minute adjustments. Everything had to be perfect. At five, Lucia finally grabbed my arm and steered me toward the elevators.“Go get ready.”“

ETHAN’S POV I heard about the board meeting before I even reached the office.Caleb was already waiting when I walked into my office. He stood near the window with his phone in his hand, scrolling through something.“You missed quite a show,” he said.I set my briefcase on the desk. “What show?”“The emergency board meeting this afternoon.”I paused.“What about it?”Caleb looked up. His expression carried a mix of surprise and something close to admiration.“Your wife just tore Samuel apart in front of the entire board.”I leaned back in my chair slowly. “Explain.”Caleb walked across the room and dropped into the chair opposite my desk.“Samuel contacted several of Isabella’s suppliers. Claimed there were irregularities in their contracts. Tried to scare them into backing out of the ISMARA launch.”I felt irritation settle in my chest.“That sounds like Samuel.”“It was worse than that,” Caleb continued. “He bypassed legal. Went directly to the suppliers. Threatened litigation.”“A

ISABELLA’S POVThe call came at six in the morning. Alessandra, my fabric supplier in Milan.“Isabella, we have a problem.”I was upright instantly, reaching for my laptop. “What kind of problem?”“Our launch contract. Someone from Moretti Luxe contacted us yesterday claiming there were irregularities. They’re threatening legal action if we fulfill the order.”Cold spread through me. “Who?”“Samuel Moretti. He said he was auditing ISMARA-related contracts. Raised concerns about pricing structures and conflicts of interest.”I pulled up the contract. “Alessandra, it’s clean. Legal reviewed every clause.”“I believe you. But he’s threatening litigation. My lawyers are advising we pause until this is resolved. I can’t risk my company.”“How long?”“At least two weeks.”The launch was in ten days. I needed the fabric in five.“Give me twenty-four hours,” I said. “Don’t make a final decision.”“Twenty-four hours.”I ended the call and dialed Lucia.“What happened?” she asked.“Samuel threa

LUCIA’S POVThe offshore account transfers were completed at two in the morning.I sat in my home office watching the confirmations populate across three different screens. Shell companies in Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, and Delaware.Perfectly legal.Questionably ethical.Absolutely necessary.I'd crossed lines before, but this felt different. This was about protecting someone who'd become more than a client. Someone who'd become a friend. That made it both easier and harder. Easier to justify. Harder to stomach if it went wrong. Each one holding Moretti Luxe shares purchased through private sales and secondary markets.Isabella sat across from me, reviewing the updated ownership breakdown."How close are we?" she asked."Closer. You now control thirty-eight percent through various entities. Ethan controls twenty-two percent. Samuel has twelve percent. The rest is distributed among smaller shareholders."Isabella's fingers paused on the keyboard when I mentioned Ethan's shares. Ju

ISABELLA'S POVI was leaving the ISMARA building at eight when Samuel stepped out of a car parked across the street."Isabella. Do you have a moment?"I stopped and looked at him. "I'm busy.""I can see that. You're always busy these days." He walked closer. "Too busy, some might say.""What do you want, Samuel?" I said and resumed walking to my car."To talk. Privately. As family.""We're not family," I shot at him, spinning so hard my hair flung into my face."Technically, we are. Whether you like it or not," he said calmly. He gestured to his car. "Please. Five minutes."I should have refused. Should have walked away. But I was tired of avoiding confrontations. Tired of letting men like Samuel control when and how we engaged."Five minutes," I said. "Here. Not in your car.""Fair enough." He leaned against the building wall. "I wanted to talk about the board meeting today.""The one where you tried to limit my authority and failed?""Your lapdog already informed you.""She's my st
