The air in the VIP terminal turned bone-chillingly cold.

Ethan stared at Victoria, his mind reeling in absolute disbelief. The woman standing before him was not the quiet, timid wife who used to cook his meals in silence and flinch whenever he raised his voice.

She wore a sharp crimson designer suit, her shoulders back, her gaze burning with an undeniable, royal arrogance. Her eyes—once filled with soft devotion whenever she looked at him—were now completely hollow of emotion.

"Victoria..." Ethan took a step forward, his voice tight, almost breathless. "Where have you been for five years? I searched everywhere for you."

"Searched for me?" Victoria let out a light, mocking laugh that sounded like delicate glass shattering. "Why, President Vance? To make sure I was still alive and not tarnishing the grand Vance family name? Or did you miss having a free servant at home?"

Ethan’s jaw tightened. "That’s not why—"

Before he could finish, little Chloe stepped up beside Victoria, wrapping her arms around her mother’s leg and looking up at Ethan with big, innocent eyes.

"Mommy," Chloe asked loudly, her voice carrying across the quiet terminal. "Is this the mean uncle who dumped you for a fake princess?"

A sharp gasp echoed from Ethan’s secretary, Director Chen, who immediately lowered his head in terror. The six bodyguards behind Ethan stood frozen, not daring to make a sound.

Ethan’s eyes snapped down to the little girl, then back to the boy, Leo, who was still standing calmly beside Victoria with his hands tucked into his tiny suit pockets.

Two children. Both roughly four years old.

Ethan’s heart slammed against his ribs with the force of a sledgehammer. He did the math instantly in his head. Five years ago... six weeks after the divorce...

"Victoria..." Ethan’s voice trembled, a sudden, wild desperation breaking through his icy composure. "Who are these children?"

"They are mine," Victoria answered calmly, reaching down to gently rest her hands on her children's shoulders.

"Are they..." Ethan swallowed hard, his throat painfully dry. "Are they my children?"

Leo looked at Ethan with an expression of pure, unadulterated disgust. "Don't flatter yourself, mister. Our father is an astronaut who lives on Mars. He's way cooler than a guy who wears cheap wristwatches."

Director Chen nearly choked on his own breath. *Cheap wristwatches? That Patek Philippe cost two hundred thousand dollars!*

Victoria didn't correct her son. Instead, she offered Ethan a cold, razor-sharp smile. "You heard him, President Vance. My children have nothing to do with you. Five years ago, I signed your agreement and walked away with nothing, just as you demanded. You lost any right to ask about my life the moment you threw me out into the storm."

"Victoria, listen to me!" Ethan stepped closer, his hand reaching out to grab her wrist, driven by a sudden, overwhelming panic that if he let her walk away now, he would lose her forever.

*Snap!*

Before Ethan’s fingers could touch her, Victoria’s chief bodyguard, Mark, stepped smoothly into his path. Mark grabbed Ethan’s wrist in a vise-like grip, blocking him completely.

"Step back, President Vance," Mark said, his voice flat and threatening. "You are approaching the Global CEO of the Sterling Group. Attempting physical contact will be treated as an act of hostility."

Ethan glared at Mark, his eyes flashing with lethal danger. "Get your hands off me if you want to keep your job in this city."

"His job is safe, Ethan," Victoria interjected, her voice dripping with ice. "Because you don't own North City anymore. And you certainly don't own me."

Ethan forced his eyes away from Mark and locked onto Victoria's face. "The Sterling Group...? You're the mysterious investor behind the Sterling conglomerate?"

"Surprised?" Victoria tilted her head slightly, her red lipstick curling into a victorious smirk. "Five years ago, you thought five hundred thousand dollars was a massive fortune to offer me. Tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, I hold fifty-one percent of the voting rights for your company's survival. If I sign the merger, Vance Enterprise lives. If I walk away, your board of directors will throw you off the throne by noon."

Ethan stood paralyzed. The woman he had discarded like trash five years ago had returned as his absolute executioner.

"We will talk tomorrow in the boardroom, President Vance," Victoria said coldly. She adjusted her sunglasses, covering her eyes once more. "Come along, my loves."

"Goodbye, cheap-watch uncle!" Chloe waved sweetly with her teddy bear as she walked away.

Leo didn't wave. He simply tapped his tablet screen one last time, sending a subtle, encrypted ping directly to Ethan’s private smartphone before following his mother down the VIP exit corridor.

Ethan stood in the center of the terminal, surrounded by his silent security team. His chest rose and fell heavily as he watched Victoria’s majestic figure disappear through the glass doors.

*Buzz. Buzz.*

Ethan’s phone vibrated violently in his pocket. He pulled it out with shaking hands.

It was a text message from an untraceable, encrypted satellite burner number.

The message contained a single attached image file: a high-resolution DNA comparative analysis report generated three minutes ago using a hair strand collected from the airport floor.

The result at the bottom was highlighted in bright red:

**PATERNITY CONFIRMED: 99.99% MATCH (ETHAN VANCE & LEO STERLING / CHLOE STERLING).**

Below the image was a tiny line of text written by Leo:

*[Try not to go bankrupt before tomorrow morning, Dad. - L]*

Ethan’s phone nearly slipped from his grasp as a wave of intense shock, grief, and roaring fury crashed over him.

They were his twins. Victoria had carried his children, born them alone, and raised them without him.

He whipped around toward Director Chen, his eyes bloodshot with terrifying intensity.

"Cancel all my appointments for tonight!" Ethan roared, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings of the terminal. "Find out where Victoria is staying! And bring me Melanie Vance right now!"

The luxury Maybach glided smoothly through the capital's evening traffic, its dark-tinted windows shielding its passengers from the lingering flashbulbs of media crews outside. Inside the quiet leather interior, the air felt heavy. Chloe had already fallen fast asleep on Ethan’s lap, her small hand loosely curled around the lapel of his tailored jacket. Ethan sat remarkably still, barely daring to shift his weight for fear of waking her. His gaze remained soft as he looked down at his daughter, before quietly turning his eyes toward Victoria.Victoria was staring out the window, watching the neon city lights bleed across the glass. But her posture was rigid. "Leo," Victoria said smoothly, breaking the silence without turning her head. "Show me the message again."Leo tapped his tablet screen, projecting a holographic mirror display onto the leather panel between the front seats. The encrypted text flashed in sharp white letters:*[The old man was just the distraction. The Sterling

The courtroom fell into an absolute, breathless hush. Every eye in the gallery—along with millions of viewers watching the live stream across the country—was glued to the massive seventy-inch screen hanging above Judge Miller's bench. On the screen, four-year-old Leo had expanded the metadata logs of the leaked psychiatric reports. Bright red highlights lined the digital code, flashing line by line."As you can see on line forty-two of the file structure," Leo explained, his tiny voice surprisingly steady as he pointed a laser pointer at the monitor, "the PDF document was generated three weeks after my mother had already departed North City five years ago. Furthermore, the electronic signature attributed to Dr. Harrison of Capital General Hospital was created using an administrative software key registered directly to Vance Manor's primary server network."A loud collective gasp erupted across the gallery. Reporters scrambled to take notes, their camera shutters clicking furiously.

The atmosphere inside the courtyard of the Sterling Villa was electric with tension. Two sleek black government sedans with dark-tinted windows pulled up to the stone driveway. Four official-looking men dressed in dark suits carrying federal badges stepped out, led by a sharp-faced middle-aged man holding a red leather dossier. It was Inspector Vance-aligned Agent Harris from the Capital Child Protection Services."Under the emergency directive issued by the High Capital Court," Agent Harris announced in a cold, monotone voice as Mark stepped forward to block them, "we are authorized to conduct an immediate inspection of the living conditions, emotional state, and physical safety of the minors, Leo Sterling and Chloe Sterling."Mark crossed his arms, his massive frame completely blocking the front door. "You're five minutes away from getting your credentials revoked, Agent Harris. This is private property.""If you obstruct a federal officer, Mr. Mark," Harris smirked, holding up the

The shadow of the capital city stretched long and thin over the tarmac as Victoria’s private jet touched down. Inside the primary suite of the plane, Victoria sat in a velvet armchair, nursing a cup of black tea while reviewing the legal briefing for Friday’s hearing. Across from her, Ethan sat on the leather bench, his laptop open, his fingers typing furiously as he dispatched his private intelligence teams across the capital. For the first time in five years, they were sharing a space without screaming, but the silence between them was thick, heavy, and pregnant with unspoken tension.Suddenly, Mark stepped into the suite, his face pale and dark. He held a tablet in his hand, his eyes shifting nervously between Victoria and Ethan."Boss," Mark said, his voice unusually tense. "We have a major situation. Samuel Vance just fired his opening shot."Victoria didn't even raise her eyes from her documents. "What did the old man do?""Ten minutes ago, three major national media outlets p

The corridor of Vance Tower suddenly felt ice-cold. Victoria stopped dead in her tracks, her hand clenching the phone so tightly her knuckles turned pale. Great-Grandfather Vance—Patriarch Samuel Vance—was the true shadow ruler of the entire Vance dynasty. A ruthless, old-world traditionalist in his eighties, he cared about only one thing: the purity and continuation of the Vance bloodline. When Victoria was married to Ethan, Samuel Vance had treated her like a invisible ghost, completely ignoring her because of her modest background. Now that he knew about the twins, he was coming for them like a vulture."Leo," Victoria said, her voice dropping into a razor-sharp tone. "Is the perimeter secure?""Yes, Mommy," Leo replied calmly. "Mark has already doubled the security around the villa. But the legal documents attached to the crate are real. Great-Grandfather Vance filed an emergency petition with the High Capital Court under the Ancient Family Estate Act. If we ignore it, they will

The atmosphere on the eighty-eighth floor of Vance Tower was suffocating. Outside the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the morning sky was still overcast, casting a gray shadow across the grand mahogany conference table. Inside, forty board members, chief officers, and major shareholders of Vance Enterprise sat in rigid silence. At the head of the table sat Ethan Vance. He had changed into a fresh navy suit, but the severe exhaustion beneath his sharp eyes was impossible to hide completely. His hands were clasped tightly in front of him on the table. To his right, a group of elderly board members led by Director Thomas—a long-time ally of the secondary Vance family branch—were whispering feverishly among themselves. "If this Sterling Group CEO decides not to sign today, our stock drops thirty percent by noon," Director Thomas grumbled loudly, casting a cold look at Ethan. "We shouldn't have relied on President Vance's personal connections. We should have prepared a backup acquisitio
