I finally got back from my six-hour shift, and it was now half-past 7 in the morning. I was in the kitchen, planning to cook breakfast for Clyden, when Gertrude, the Gonzalo family’s head maid, suddenly went inside the kitchen.

She looked at the ingredients on the kitchen counter and asked, “What are you doing so early in the morning?”

“Oh, I just wanted to cook some breakfast for Clyden,” I responded.

I heard her softly scoff and placed some of the ingredients back in the pantry. “Umm, I was going to use that,” I said.

“Clyden prefers the food that we cook, Miss Maia. Don’t you remember from back then? He didn't eat at all when you were the one who prepared his breakfast. We were the ones assigned with cooking his breakfast, so you don’t have to bother yourself with this anymore,” she fakely smiled.
