I led Clyden up the stairs, still not forgetting about what he had said earlier. I thought that he’d agree to his grandma’s proposition right away, but I was surprised when he refused right off the bat. My heart was still accelerating from his words, so I had to take in deep breaths to calm my heart and mind.

I opened the door to his room and led him to the bed. Yes, this is his solo room. That is one of the many things that he asked for in our marriage— for us to have separate rooms. Actually, the bedroom that I’m currently staying in should have been our shared bed, but he wanted to sleep in a separate room, so he had one built opposite of mine.
