The Wedding Preparation

Athena slowly roamed her eyes throughout the whole room. It was a spacious room filled with nice-looking furniture. The walls were painted in purple and white giving a warm and welcoming vibe. Athena had entered this room a few times to clean it but she never expected someday it would be her room. Temporary to be exact. But still. The room had a huge balcony facing her favourite spot in the whole mansion. The garden. She could see the beautiful garden from the balcony of her room. It was on the third floor. Just in front of Roman's bedroom.

When two days ago she got the shocking proposal from the Morin family she was shocked beyond her limit. She didn't know what to do or say. She didn't understand why they would choose her and why the Mighty Roman Morin agreed to marry a maid of his house when he could have any girl he wanted.

The answer was his grandfather and aunt. He would do anything for his family no matter what.

So when Henry asked everyone to leave to talk to her alone, she didn't know what was coming. But one thing was clear as water.

She entered the room as a maid of the Morin family but exited the room as the would-be bride of the Morin family.

After Athena agreed to the marriage proposal, she was told not to work as a maid anymore. She was immediately shifted into the mansion and given room to stay until she was officially married to Roman Morin.

Athena sighed and sat on the soft white bed. When her buttocks touched the soft material she immediately laid on her back while her legs hung on the edge of the bed. She slowly rubbed her hands on her face before placing them behind her head. Her chestnut hair was messily lying on the bed, while her eyes were fixed on the ceiling.

In just a month, she will be from maid to the daughter-in-law of the Morin family.

Athena closed her eyes slowly and let her thoughts consume her. She was Athena Carson, without any proper family. She worked for the Morin family since her childhood with her mother, her mother was a maid in that family too. But she died of cancer when Athena was 19 years old and currently she was 23 which meant it's already been four yearssince her mother died.

She had no siblings, no family. The Morin family was what she called a family as they took care of her since her childhood. But she never expected that Henry Morin would choose her as his granddaughter-in-law one day.

"Athena! Athena!" Hearing a voice calling her name continuously, Athena woke up from her nap with a jerk. She rubbed her face and found Emilia sitting beside her in the bed. Athena got up and sat down on the bed. Her neck hurt from sleeping in that weird position.

"Emilia, when did you come back? I'm sorry I didn't know when I fell asleep." Athena said with a sheepish smile while looking at Emilia who was looking at her with an excited face.

"Oh, Athena!" Emilia exclaimed before pulling Athena into a hug. Athena was surprised by her sudden act but soon managed to compose herself and hugged her back with a smile. After a while, they broke the hug but Emilia still kept holding her hands in hers.

"I just heard the news. Why didn't you tell me before? I'm so happy for you. I'm glad because now you will be truly a part of our family." Emilia expressed her joy by her words. Her face showed how much she was happy with the news of her best friend becoming her sister-in-law.

"I'm sorry Emilia. Everything happened so suddenly that I didn't know what to do or how to react. You were away because of work so I didn't want to bother you." Athena explained with a smile, hoping she would understand and wouldn't be mad at her.

"I understand, but let me tell you, we have many things to do and prepare for the wedding and you have to choose me as your maid of honour," Emilia said with a grin while making Athena laugh.

"Of course. If not you, then who else would be?" Athena replied with a question making Emilia grin.

"Ok. Now freshen up and get changed. Mom wants us to go and get your wedding dress. We have lots of shipping to do." Emilia said while getting up and tidying up her clothes.

"Ok. Give me 15 minutes." Athena said while getting up. Emilia nodded and exited her room with a smile while Athena moved towards the washroom to freshen up.

Athena went shopping with Emilia and Mrs Morin, both were very kind to her. They helped her to choose the wedding dress and brought her many things to match their standard. Athena was afraid to think how much those things cost.  But she didn't bother thinking as it wasn't her money and they were super-rich so that amount might be very small to them.

A few days had passed after that but there was one thing that was bothering her. She didn't see Roman for almost a week. Sometimes she thought the wedding bomb might have shocked the poor soul so much that he needed time to recover. But she kinda missed his handsome face as it was a kinda feast to the eyes.

She got excited thinking how jealous other girls might be seeing him becoming her husband. Such a yummy eye candy was going to be her husband. Now she could crush on him as much as she wanted and it wouldn't be weird since he would be her legal husband. Athens shook her head and smiled sheepishly at her perverted thoughts.

She was getting more shameless day by day!

"Daydreaming again, aren't we?" Someone said from behind making Athena frown and then turn around. She found Becky looking at her with a smirk while crossing her arms.

"What do you mean?" Athena asked, confused.

"Ahh, you are so lucky! From  a maid to be the daughter-in-law of the Morin family!" Becky said with an eye roll making Athena look at her with a smile.

"Yes! Indeed I'm very lucky." Athena replied with a smile, already understanding Becky's intention.

"A crow could never be a Peacock just by wearing some colourful feathers," Becky said while making her way towards the opposite direction.

Athena looked at her retiring back and shook her head with a smile. Whatever she said was true but who said she was the crow? She has already noticed the change of behaviour in the maids except Lexi and Aunt Layla. They were both happy for her and still treated her kindly. She didn't need the whole world to like her; only a few people were enough. Thinking that she made her way towards her room as it was already late at night.

She reached the third floor and slowly pushed open her bedroom door. But to her surprise, a guest was waiting for her in the room.

Roman Morin.

He was standing by the open window of her room facing the garden while talking to someone over the phone.

"What are you doing here?" Athena asked dumbfounded, making Roman turn around.  He was wearing a casual tee shirt and sweatpants. But still managed to look heavenly handsome.

"Can't I be in my would-be wife's room?" Roman replied with a devilish smirk after cutting the call and keeping the phone in his pocket. His smile made Athena frozen in her place. She was sure of one thing.

That smile meant trouble!
