Chapter 3

Sebastian’s point of view

I was having the literal worst night. Ryan has refused to back off and leave me to my peace. He was bent on explaining himself when he was many years late already.

And I on the other hand was not having it, I swerved off any chance Ryan mounted to hold a conversation between us. This should have happened years now, not after he declared himself as my enemy, or now that I only sees him as my rival and nothing else.

All thanks to Ryan, I could neither land The Aces in a contract or strike a partnership with Xavier. This must have been his plan all along, his revenge for what I did to him at the club.

Screw with my head and mess up my night.

He probably was behind Xavier’s early esteem for alcohol, and then leech at me all night so I’d have no chance to hold a conversation with the Aces, because I was too busy avoiding him and maintaining a constant distance.

The party has finally come to end around midnight, and guests were now greeting the celebrant and leaving.

This was my last shot at what I came here for, I eyed the crowd with keen observation until I found the Aces, the elite twin looking to invest and expand their wealth. They were already at the door about to leave when I rushed after them.

I couldn’t care less about the governor, it’s not like we were deep friends or anything, we were mere acquaintances that tolerates each other. The tolerance earned me an invitation to his party.

I was near the exit when a figure crossed and blocked my path. “Finally got you!” The figure remarked, as he grounded his stance in front of me.

My blood boiled at the sight of him. Help me God.

“Leave. Me. The. Fuck. Alone!” I raced into rage as I fisted my palm and launch forth a punch directly into Ryan’s face unable to control myself any longer.

I’ve kept it intact for a while now, held it in and try to remain cool, calm and collected.

I’ve kept myself in check throughout the night, did everything to avoid him and keep our distance. Yet he wouldn’t let me be, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be chasing after the people I should have talked with since. And somehow, he remains the reason why the chance to speak with them smoothly slipped out of my goddamn reach!

Ryan gasped as he rubbed on his jaw that I hit out of anger. He looked up and saw I’ve closed up the small space between them fiercely as I latched onto his collar and pushed him into the wall behind us.

“What is it with you huh? Left me in the wind for years only to come back and steal the one thing I’ve always dreamt of, as if that wasn’t enough, you started stealing all my investors, sabotaging my business. What the fuck?!”

“Calm down Seb, this is not good. We should talk somewhere more private!”

I was beginning to draw attention, and eyes flickered from their fixed position to focus rather at the scene near the exit, to focus on us.

I glanced around to see phones has also gone up to record more of what is happening. Murmurs broke out of the crowd present about the scene we’re causing.

There has always been a rumor, that both of us are enemies. Just that none of us ever confirmed it. The rumor is mainly about how I am jealous of Ryan’s success and picked rivalry with him out of envy, while the remaining few spoke about Ryan being a betrayal who stole something dear to me.

The world knew us as a formal best friends, but had no idea what separated us. Nobody does, all reasons or ideas were based off publicity and speculations.

“No we’re not talking! I don’t want to talk! What exactly is there to talk about after six fucking years huh? Nothing! Nothing at all! Stay away from me! Leave me alone! Or else-“ I paused to tighten the hold I had on his collar.

Fury crowned my face in a glorious blaze as I shook Ryan and slam him harder into the wall. “If you refuse to stay away from me……” he leaned in to whisper straight into his ears. “I’m promising you a devil you’ve never seen before,” I whispered the cropped part of my threat into his ear.

“What is going on here?” Governor DuPont, the celebrant who was in his late forties finally graced the scene.

Xavier also came out from behind the governor as he gasped with a wide smile at both me and Ryan. “I knew it, you both finally settled on throwing punches instead of bullets. That’s so rich, what did I miss?” His lips thinned excitedly as his gaze varied from me to Ryan.

I heaved a deep sigh as I let go of Ryan and stepped back from him. I did a little clean up on my chest as I looked back to address the attention that has forged for me.

“Run with whatever you all are gonna run with. Just know that I’m neither jealous nor envious of this bastard right here.” My index lifted to point at Ryan who was also fixing himself.

“Polish your words, fam,” Ryan growled silently in caution.

I heard him but chose to ignore and went on to address the phone flashlights pointed at my face. “He is my enemy, my rival, my bestest friend turned adversary. What I feel in place of jealousy is pure hatred, clean rage against him. Know this and know peace, and the world should also know that I’ve chosen to become his nemesis. Why? Because he’s a snake, a betrayal, and he deserves it.” My stoic expression never for once faltered as I whirled my head back to face Ryan one last time.

“I hope I polished those words well now?” My brows raised at him. “Consider this the beginning of my vengeance. If it’s the last thing I do on earth, I’ll make sure you regret betraying me.” My cold eyes brimmed with hatred, passionate and intense as I glared hard at him.

“Ouuuu, this is premium stuff. Yeah I’m glad I honored this invitation, this looks better physically than I’ll enjoy it on news,” Xavier commented and chuckled from where he stood. He’s crazy, I never knew that.

I stepped into motion and attempted to walk past Ryan when a hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me back and close, before I could get a grip of my stance, another hand slipped around my waist as a face leaned into mine to capture my opened mouth in a kiss.

Right in front of everyone, with phones held high for recording, Ryan pulled me in for a kiss after I just confirmed the rumor of us being enemies.

People went wild with gasps.

Chapter 80 Ryan’s point of view I’ve avoided my office long enough so it felt a little bit unusual as my feet padded down the hallway that led to my office. Bows and greetings flew my way till I arrived at the sole entrance of my workspace. My secretary was nowhere in sight, probably yet to clocked in since I’ve been scarce in attendance and wouldn’t be around to criticize her tardiness. I don’t even care. I just want her around so she can update me on the team’s progress about extracting Matthew Simmons’s hidden identity. I haven’t called her about it in a while and she hasn’t also. I’m curious if it’s because there was no update or if there was but it wasn’t important enough for my knowledge. I slept at Selena’s yesterday. We binged watch a show she called her favorite, and debate over topics while we were at it. I’ve kind of missed her. She’s actually so fun to be with it. I can’t believe she used to be a dull and reserved child growing up, it’s absurd. My mom hasn’t called

Chapter 93Ryan’s point of view “What is it? No work today?” Mom quizzed from she stood at the door, leaned against the frame with her arms crossed inches below her chest. I raised my head up to look at her, wondering why she had a smirk on and brighter than usual. There’s no need to tell her I’m staying in today because I don’t want to face my reality just yet. I want a day off, all to myself, with my world’s shenanigans not shoved deep in my face. So instead of replying her, I returned my attention back to the random research I was reading about. Yeah that’s the weird thing about me. While everybody spends their off day watching a movie or a show, I love to pick a topic and research on, dig up stuffs and know all there is to know about that topic, then discard it when I’m done. That’s my own way of clearing my head. Doing that shifts my total focus away from my real world problems. Watching a movie doesn’t, I can definitely still think about my problems while my eyes are burie

  • The CEO’s Private Desires    Chapter 92

Chapter 92Sebastian’s point of view Not much could be proceeded with my plan yesterday when Donna decided dinner was gonna be a hard-work. She knew too well I don’t eat outside, I loathe take-outs or any fancy dishes there is to eat in a restaurant. If it’s not cooked by me, then it won’t be eaten by me. So we spent the rest of yesterday cooking what she wanted- which was a hectic meal by the way, luxurious and probably one of the fanciest I’ve ever seen. And while I did most of the cooking, she kept my ears alive with gists. When we were done she wanted to spend the night even, but I told her she’s intruded my peace enough. Though Ryan called me late yesterday, but I still didn’t share my plan to catch this sucker to him. I truly would prefer it a secret until its success. And today when I arrived at the office, the chief of security was the first person to walk through the entrance of my office. Donna did rang me up seconds ago to inform me about his request- which I permitt

Chapter 88Ryan’s point of view My conversation with mom surprisingly unknotted a complex bundle in our relationship. I’ve now chosen to forgive my mom for our past and give her a second chance. Let’s see if she’s going to be a mother, and if she has truly buried her wicked ways. All that’s left to tackle now is my sister. And I should’ve braced myself for the scream that’d follow after I went into her room without knocking. “Where are your manners?! Does this look your fucking basement?!” I let her rambled on, while I stay rooted to a spot near the room’s exit with my arms thrown around my chest and head lowered. “Now get out!” She came to the command after yelling my head off. My head raised up to match her fiery gaze, “I would have the minute I met your reaction after I came in. But what I came in here to do isn’t to leave. You’re going to hear me out whether or not you want to, you have no choice. But first, I’d like to apologize for not knocking, I was just eager to get in
