Chapter 84 Ryan’s point of view Seb reeled back into his old self following the events of today. Instead of him to wait and brainstorm on how we’d deal with this guy together, rather he went silent and mute throughout our ride back to the city. Even as I prate off his ears, all I got was a steeled face and a locked lips. He dropped me off at my office, and just rode out of my sight before I could get into his feelings, or whatever thoughts going on in his head. I recalled very clearly the only sentence he uttered while chasing me out of his car kind off. “I have this thing I need to get to. We’ll talk later and everything, so bye for now.” Then he unlocked his car, a gesture that hints at his request for me to exit. I didn’t realize how much he’s been closed off until he said and did that. Only then did I realize he hasn’t said a thing since we watched that car exploded. I knew he got a text because he checked his phone and that what was when he went mute. I don’t know what t
Chapter 83 Sebastian’s point of view Twenty minutes later of myself and Ryan talking and laughing about random stuff. I sighted a red sedan came to an abrupt stop far in front of us. “Ryan look. I think he’s here.” I pointed out at the car parked faraway while I called to his attention. “Why does he have to pack that far? I can’t see a thing from here?” He spoke with a squinted eyes, as if trying to see into the car. He even went as far as raising a shield up with his palm over his eyes to grant himself a better sight at seeing into the far point of an image. “Should we have brought binoculars. And looks like he came alone, unless there’s a full gang inside that car of his,” I too noted in observation. “We definitely should have brought guns though cause what if he has one? We really didn’t think this through,” I said in addition. “Okay this is definitely a trap. Let’s wait and see what happens?” Ryan was barely finished with his sentence when my phone pinged. I already knew wh
Chapter 82 Ryan’s point of view Seb thinks Matthew’s demand could be a trap, and yet here we are seated in his car for a ride at the pasted location he received. Jungle Beach. I’ve heard of it, it’s actually not quite cordial as one would think the beach is. It’s secluded, and lacked the buzz of an activity location. Which proves more of Seb’s theory that this we’re most definitely driving to a trap. We’ve been on the ride for minutes now and Seb wouldn’t talk to me. He always appeared to be lost in his thoughts whenever I took a glance, and although his eyes were focused on the road, I still could detect his divided attention. Not like I’m over the way he treated me or that I’ve totally forgiven him like he requested. I was just hoping he’d lighten up to address my accusation. I don’t want to be right. Because if I am, then we’re strained. We’re fucked up for life. He used my own redemption against me. That’s all I could think about every time I’m reminded of the loss. I just
Chapter 81 Sebastian’s point of view I nearly went against the decision to visit his office. It took every ounce of my willpower to get inside my car and ride for here. So imagine the rage when his secretary was getting professional with me. I’m sorry but does it look like I’m here on business? I don’t care what image my outburst at her would have painted. All I care about right now is Ryan’s well-being, and when I was finally granted access to see his face, my walls faltered. Pity morphed into my expression uncontrollably, and I found myself taking quick strides towards the chair he was seated. There was little to no effort invested to hide his frustration. His hair was rough, and eyes puffy. I could say he spent his night wallowing even. I grabbed on his collar the moment I got to him, tugged him to his feet before I flung my arms around him. “I’m sorry,” I whispered as his head leaned into my neck. “I’m so sorry.” I pressed myself further into his body. “Uhm,” he mouthed a
Chapter 80 Ryan’s point of view I’ve avoided my office long enough so it felt a little bit unusual as my feet padded down the hallway that led to my office. Bows and greetings flew my way till I arrived at the sole entrance of my workspace. My secretary was nowhere in sight, probably yet to clocked in since I’ve been scarce in attendance and wouldn’t be around to criticize her tardiness. I don’t even care. I just want her around so she can update me on the team’s progress about extracting Matthew Simmons’s hidden identity. I haven’t called her about it in a while and she hasn’t also. I’m curious if it’s because there was no update or if there was but it wasn’t important enough for my knowledge. I slept at Selena’s yesterday. We binged watch a show she called her favorite, and debate over topics while we were at it. I’ve kind of missed her. She’s actually so fun to be with it. I can’t believe she used to be a dull and reserved child growing up, it’s absurd. My mom hasn’t called
Chapter 79 Sebastian’s point of view Ryan was on my mind all through the night. Was he fine? Was he okay after we ended our brief phonecall? What exactly happened to him? He’s not usually like that. Heck he’s never been like that. I couldn’t concentrate on whatever it is I was here to do. Instead, I rush my meet up with the cops and was back on the fastest flight back to LA. “I thought we’d at least visit some places here before we return home you know..? Like get to know Chicago better and check out cool spots. Why are we rushing home?”Since I didn’t inform Donna about the call I had with Ryan, I couldn’t speak against her crash out. Albeit we were never here to do any of the things she said. We were here to find out more about this Matthew Simmons guy and how he was able to attack my company here, not to have a vacation or fun day in Chicago. “Is it me or you’ve been awfully quiet since I don’t know….?” I whipped my head around to face her. Concern lingered over her face and
