A girl screamed before her body bounced off and fell onto the asphalt. Her small body lay sprawled and covered in blood. Thankfully, the bag she was carrying propped up her head, but the child made no moans or cries. "You hit a kid, Boss." William witnessed the little girl being thrown clear. A man in a white shirt exited the car hurriedly, his breath ragged when he saw the little girl lying there, covered in blood. The man who came out of the car's left side just muttered to himself when he saw the little girl his boss had hit. 'Alana.' The man called "Boss" carried Alana's body. "Willy, you drive. Fast!" Henry ordered before getting into the car. "Okay, boss." William drove rapidly through the city streets. Luckily, the road wasn't jammed, even though it was busy with vehicles; the traffic was smooth. Henry, the CEO of BARA Corporation, still looks young and handsome at thirty. He kept looking at the face of the child, who was weak and helpless in his arms due to his negligence while driving. "Boss, is the child still breathing?" William glanced briefly at the rear-view mirror to check Alana's condition, then returned his focus to driving. William kept trying to focus, even though his mind was on the mother of the child his boss had hit. 'How do I explain all this?' The man in the driver's seat could only mutter to himself. He didn't tell his boss that he recognized the little girl. Henry stared at the face of the girl slumped in his lap. Despite being very pale, the little girl still looked beautiful and sweet. The man in the blood-covered white shirt placed his index finger under Alana's nose. He breathed a sigh of relief when he still felt the child's breath. Not long after, they arrived at the hospital. A nurse took Alana to the emergency room. Henry and William hastened after the gurney the nurse was pushing. The nurse admitted Alana to the emergency room. Henry waited outside, afraid something would happen to the child. If anything went wrong, he could never forgive himself. William approached his boss, who was standing by the emergency room door. "Boss, we'd better tell her family." "God, how could I forget, but where do we find out? I don't know who her parents are." Henry remembered the child's bag the nurse had given him. There might be some family info in it. Henry handed the pink bag to his assistant. "Fine, Boss." William took the pink bag. "I will contact Alana's parents soon." "Alana?" Henry's brow furrowed. "That child's name is Alana?" "Yes, boss," William answered. "How do you know? Do you know her?" Henry shot several questions at his assistant. "It has a name." William showed Alana's name on the pink school bag. "This must be the little girl's name." "Yes, that must be her name," said Henry. "Find out the kindergarten and ask them for Alana's parents' number," he continued, pointing to Alana's school name printed on the bag. William nodded, then moved away from his boss. Once further away from Henry, William contacted Alana's biological mother. "Hello... your daughter had an accident. Hurry up and come here. I'll send you the address." Without waiting for an answer from the person on the phone, William immediately hung up. He couldn't answer the questions Alana's parents would surely ask him. William returned to Henry after finishing the call. "I've called the mother," William said. "She'll be here soon." "That's great." That was all Henry could say. Now, he was thinking about apologizing to the little girl's parents. After a long time, a doctor came out of the examination room. "Are you the family of the little girl who had the accident?" the Doctor asked. "Yes, Doc," replied Henry. "I am the father." William's eyes widened when his boss claimed to be the father of the child he hit. "The little girl lost a lot of blood. For blood type AB, the hospital is empty," the Doctor explained. Henry was silent for a while after hearing the Doctor's words. "Please take care of the further administration and registration immediately for treatment," the Doctor added before he left. Henry was very agitated. The grown man kept looking out the emergency room window. Henry desperately wanted to know how the little girl was. He didn't do it on purpose. Henry would have driven his car slowly if he had known this would happen. Even though William had previously offered to drive, Henry insisted on going himself. The result was this: because he wasn't careful, he hit a little girl. He was ready if Alana's parents were furious with him, and he would take complete and sincere responsibility if they demanded it. Henry continued to be restless. He imagined the face of the little girl in his arms, which felt familiar to him. "Boss, if you want to go home, let me take care of this matter," William said. "How can I go home if I've caused that little girl harm? What if she's not okay?" Henry gasped, agitated. William was silent. His lips started to open again, but he stopped himself when he saw the increasingly agitated look on his boss's face. A nurse came out of the emergency room, and Henry immediately went to her. "Can I come in?" asked Henry, eager to meet the little girl he had hit. "Please, sir!" the nurse answered kindly. Henry nodded. He immediately entered the room while William took care of Alana's registration. Henry entered the emergency room with mixed feelings: nervous, scared, and sorry. His heart beat faster as his eyes remained focused on the little girl's face. Henry's large hand slowly caressed Alana's hand. The little girl's hand was icy. Her head and hands were in bandages. "Sweet child, wake up! I'm sorry, for making you like this. Uncle promised to buy a big doll for you, and we will be friends. Get well soon, okay?" Henry rubbed Alana's hand gently while watching the little girl's pretty face. 'Your face reminds me of someone.' "Alana wake up-" "Lana!" The sound of a woman's scream made Henry stop what he was saying and turn to the source of the sound. A woman Henry knew very well was now standing on the right side of the bed. The look on her face was messy and anxious. Henry was shocked when he recognized the mother of the little girl he had hit. "Amanda...."Mrs. Vena even knelt in front of Amanda. She spoke in a hoarse voice while looking down. "Amanda, please forgive me. I regret planning to take Alan and Alana from you. I realize your relationship with my grandson is important, which I never felt before."Amanda was stunned to hear Mrs. Vena's apology. She never expected that Mrs. Vena would kneel before her and apologize so sincerely. Her heart was filled with emotion and began to soften."I have seen your influence on my grandchild's life. I realize my mistake and promise not to separate you from them. You are a great mother, and my grandchildren need you. I ask that you forgive me."Amanda felt moved and wanted to give Mrs. Vena a second chance. She could see the genuine change in the woman's heart."Mrs. Vena," said Amanda understandingly, "I appreciate your apology. I also hope that we can improve our relationship in the future. Wake up!"Amanda stood up and helped her ex-in-law to get up. Even though the woman had done a lot of w
In a quiet living room, Henry sat on the sofa with a tense face and sharp eyes, looking at his mother. Beside him was Amanda."Why don't you bring my grandchildren?" Mrs. Vena asked, pretending to be excellent."Mom, we decided to get married again." Amanda got straight to the point. "I hope Mother will approve of us."Mrs. Vena was silent; she couldn't say a word. Even though Amanda had given birth to two grandchildren for her, she didn't want Amanda to be her second daughter-in-law because she didn't want to have a poor daughter-in-law.Henry smiled sarcastically, seeing his mother just silent and without saying a single word. "As I thought, Mom was nice to Amanda and just wanted to make her miserable."Amanda held Henry's hand so that the man wouldn't continue what he was saying."Amanda, we were fooled by this old woman. Do you still believe her?" Henry started the conversation in a firm tone."I'm sure Mom has changed, especially now that we have Alan and Alana. I'm sure your gue
Henry stood in front of Amanda. Expectant gazes turned to Amanda, who was sitting in front of him. Silence immediately enveloped the room; only the sound of the clock ticking on the wall could be heard in the ears of the four of them."It's been a long time since we lived apart, Amanda," Henry said tremblingly, trying to suppress his nervousness. "We've been through a lot together, and honestly, I can't live without you."Even though he felt nervous, Henry dared to propose to his ex-wife again in front of his assistant and secretary."We have been apart for so long, but my love for you has never changed. Even though you once hurt me because of a misunderstanding, the love in my heart never faded."Amanda looked at Henry with a face full of doubt. Her mind and heart were racing. Remembering the reasons behind their decision to separate made Amanda's heart cut like a dagger. She knows that mistakes and misunderstandings have ruined the love they once had."But..." Amanda looked down; sh
William arrived at his house after Mr. Anderson came home. He ran into Henry, who was going home."Boss, when are you arriving?" William asked."Where are you from?" Instead of answering, Henry asked his assistant again."I ...." William stopped speaking when the cell phone in his pocket rang non-stop. William reached into it and looked at his cell phone screen. "Mr Jo? Looks like there is important information," said William to Henry.Willy answered a call from the butler at the Boss's house."Sir, there is important information about the old lady," said Mr Jo from behind the telephone."We'll go there now. Let's talk at home.""Are you back, sir?""Boss and I are home," answered William, "we'll be there soon."William hung up the phone immediately. "Boss, I'll change clothes first. We're going to your house now.""Your clothes are wet; where have you been?" Henry was surprised to see that his assistant's clothes were wet."It was raining there. I got caught in the rain when I got ba
